In a whirlwind week of viral moments lighting up the internet — including some that have upended people's lives — what a strange feeling to come across a composite image of all the men that actress Winona Ryder has dated. And there, among her former beaus, was a face most Catholics would instantly recognize: Dr. Scott Hahn. 

Yes, it’s true that the Stranger Things actress is dating a man named Scott Hahn, who does bear some resemblance to the one we all know — complete with a distinguished beard.

But that is where the comparison ends.

Our Dr. Scott Hahn is known to millions across the globe for his deep understanding of the Scriptures. As a convert to Catholicism, he has helped bridge so many divides for others seeking the one true apostolic faith. He is also a devoted husband and father, whose son Jeremiah recently became a priest. 

I should admit upfront that I know absolutely nothing about the Scott Hahn that Winona Ryder is dating, and apparently, the internet is just getting to know him too. A quick Google search yields an abundance of information about Dr. Scott Hahn. Only after adding Ryder's name to the search does any information come up about this other man, who works in fashion design.

But maybe this mix-up will serve some good — and help some seekers get to know the real Dr. Hahn and the Catholic faith he explains so well.

For what it's worth, it's heartening to hear Ryder is apparently planning on marrying her Scott Hahn. The 53-year-old actress, who played a character obsessed with Catholicism in the movie Mermaids, has never tied the knot, so let's all raise a glass to this potential marriage — and to our esteemed Dr. Scott Hahn.
