A Rivalry Set Aside: Army Cadets and Navy Midshipmen Unite in Halftime Rosary
Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly led the Marian prayer alongside Archbishop Timothy Broglio and Archbishop William Lori with 250 cadets and midshipmen.
A beautiful, grace-filled moment came on the sidelines of this year's Army-Navy game, when hundreds of cadets and midshipmen came together to pray a Rosary during halftime — hosted by the Knights of Columbus.
Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly led the Rosary, alongside Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, and Knights’ Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore, inside M&T Stadium in Baltimore.
“The Knights of Columbus is again honored to join young Catholic men and women to pray the Rosary during the Army-Navy football game, which draws us closer to Jesus Christ, our Holy Mother, and our Catholic faith,” Kelly said.

“These cadets and midshipmen are the best and brightest young adults our nation has to offer. As a retired naval officer, and as someone who joined our organization as a college Knight, I am proud of their selfless sacrifice to our nation and their witness to their Catholic faith.”

About 250 military members took part in the event Dec. 13, alongside Supreme Master Michael McCusker and other Catholic leaders from West Point and Annapolis. Participants went home with a commemorative rosary coin made to mark the event, now in its second year.
The U.S. Military Academy and the U.S.Naval Academy were playing their 126th Army-Navy game this month; the midshipmen won the game, 17-16.
