Catholic publishers have recently released some fantastic books to help your prayer life, your parenting, and your understanding of the Catholic faith. Check out these titles for unique additions to your own home library.

From Silence to Silence: A Benedictine Pilgrimage to God’s Sanctuary, by Benedictine Father Francis Bethel: This Benedictine monk from Clear Creek Abbey in Oklahoma draws from the centuries-old monastic tradition of prayer and his own personal experience to provide a spiritual guide for Catholics who want to silence the distracting noise of this fallen world to hear more clearly the quiet or “silent” voice of God. I find every page full of peace, challenge, stillness and beauty.

The Rule: Counsels and Directives for Husbands and Fathers, by Devin Schadt, co-founder of the Fathers of St. Joseph and co-host of The Catholic Gentleman, is rife with straightforward, precision-guided wisdom to assist husbands and fathers in steeling themselves for the battle for their souls and those of their families. Through the intercession of St. Joseph, Custos (Guardian), you will learn 88 specific rules to deepen your Catholic masculine spirituality and to aid you in discerning spirits, growing in faith, and guarding your family. The Catechism of the Catholic Church from Every Sacred Sunday is perhaps the most beautiful edition I’ve seen of this pivotal book, with an heirloom-quality hardcover and more than 100 curated images from Catholic photographers.

In need of new recipes to add to the family meal rotation? Around the Catholic Table by Emily Stimpson Chapman offers more than 100 menu options, plus essays on the spiritual side of hospitality.

And how about a couple of new titles for children?

Emily Stimpson Chapman brings biblical truth alive for little hearts in The Story of All Stories: A Story Bible for Young Catholics.

OSV Kids Discover: The Pope by Colleen Pressprich is filled with fun facts and eye-catching graphics about the life, history, theology and unique role of the office of the pope. I can’t wait for more in this Discover series, as this one is a hit.

Sacred Heart of Jesus: Devotion to Jesus’ Heart for Children, by Patrick O’Hearn and illustrated by Adalee Hude, is a beautiful new prayer aid for young ones, with simple meditations, including Jesus’ private revelations to St. Margaret Mary, St. Gertrude and St. Faustina, along with relevant Scripture passages and reflections (BONUS READ: Our Lady of Sorrows: Devotion to Mary’s Seven Sorrows for Children).

Finally, illustrator Candace Camling has two new titles to help the littlest ones pray: Learn to Pray My First Hail Mary (with author Meredith Wilson) for toddlers and My First Interactive Rosary Book (which Camling wrote and illustrated), a hands-on guide for children ages 4 and up.
