The Vance family is growing. On Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha announced they are expecting their fourth child, a boy, due in July.

The announcement comes as the Catholic vice president is set to appear at the March for Life on Friday. (Watch on EWTN.)

At the 2025 March for Life, Vance spoke of welcoming new life:

“I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them. ... And it is the task of our government to make it easier for young moms and dads to afford to have kids, to bring them into the world and to welcome them as the blessings that we know they are here at the March for Life.” The vice president also said: “America is fundamentally a pro-baby, a pro-life and a pro-family country.”

It is the first known time that a sitting second lady is expecting a baby while her husband is in office.

Almost a decade ago when the Vances were expecting their first child during a busy time as Usha was preparing for a new job, political commentator and podcaster Megyn Kelly broached how stressful it might be for them. The young politician replied: “You don’t plan your baby around your life; you plan your life around the baby.”

Catholics across the country have been celebrating the news of the baby, including Lila Rose of Live Action.

Congratulations indeed to the second family. Prayers for their new blessing and this witness during this monumental week.
