“It was truly amazing” to see 8,500 people adore Christ over the weekend for the New York State Eucharistic Congress, Kathryn Jean Lopez told EWTN News Nightly anchor Tracy Sabol this week.

Lopez went on to describe how moving it was “seeing Jesus being processed around” the “beautiful, holy grounds” of the Our Lady of the Martyrs Shrine in Auriesville, New York.

“People love Jesus so much.”

The beautiful photos attest to the blessings of the gathering:

People Explain ‘Why I Go to Mass’

‘Why go to Mass on Sundays? It is not enough to answer that it is a precept of the Church. … We Christians need to participate in Sunday Mass because only with the grace of Jesus, with his living presence in us and among us, can we put into practice his commandment, and thus be his credible witnesses.’ —Pope Francis
