Welcoming Gen-Z Catholics (and a New Look for the Register)

This Easter the Church welcomed thousands of new Catholics across the country, and among those numerous new Catholics are members of Generation Z, part of what many think might be a significant revival of faith among young people... Register staff writer Jonah McKeown explores the important question: Is this ‘Revival’ Real? And then, the National Catholic Register is launching a redesign, and we are delighted to tell you about the exciting changes and additions to our already award-wining coverage. Register graphic artist Melissa Hartog joins us.

A New Look for the Register

In this digital age, the National Catholic Register chiefly shares its award-winning Catholic content online at NCRegister.com and through its social-media platforms. But every two weeks, the editors pull together our best stories in our print edition.

Much like a thoughtfully curated “greatest hits” compilation, the print edition is mailed out to thousands of subscribers around the world — it even goes to the Vatican!

This issue is extra special because it marks the Register’s first major redesign in 18 years. Here’s what’s new:

Easier to read. By popular demand, we’ve increased the font size of our text. Readers will also appreciate bullet-point summaries for our longer articles and fewer articles that jump to another page.

Page II. This colorful new page highlights trending faith-related stories you might have missed.

Public Square. Our new section pulls together politics and policy coverage, including pro-life and religious liberty news and analysis, as well as the opinion page.

Editorial cartoonist Steve Breen. Steve is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and a devout Catholic dad of seven. His cartoons appear on the opinion page.

Devotion. This new section is focused on saints, prayer, feast days and the latest devotional programming from EWTN.

Vitae. Our new, expanded lifestyle section includes interviews with Catholic influencers and other newsmakers, along with features on art, books, film, travel, food and wine, Catholic weddings and more — plus a new Catholic crossword puzzle

The Deep Dive. This new, occasional page showcases our best long-form stories.

I’d love to know what you think of these changes. Drop me a line at [email protected]. Thank you for your readership!

Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Next week, the Bishops of the United States will meet in Orlando and consecrate America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This week on Register Radio we are joined by Bishop Kevin Rhoades to explain the importance of the consecration and how we can all take part and then Register senior writer Zelda Caldwell tells us about the remarkable phenomenon of diocesan priests living in community.
