Way of Beauty

CATHOLICTV Iconographer and realist painter David Clayton of Thomas More College of the Liberal Arts in Merrimack, N.H., creates and teaches “art that adheres to the timeless and sacred principles that comprise beautiful art, and which moves the hearts of those who see it to love of God and fellow man.” This new, 13-part Catholic art series will air at midnight Tuesdays, noon Wednesdays, 7:30pm Thursdays, 3:30pm Saturdays and 6:30am Sundays.

Cardinal John Henry Newman

EWTN Pope Benedict XVI will beatify Cardinal Newman (1801-1890) later this week. At 6:30am Sunday is Tranquil Work: Cardinal Newman and the Birmingham Oratory. At 10pm Sunday (re-airing at 1pm Tuesday and 5am Thursday) is Heart of the Matter: Newman Roundtable: The Life & Legacy of John Henry Cardinal Newman. At 5:30am Monday, In Step With Newman tours Newman sites. At 11pm Tuesday, Shepherd Speaks interviews Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster.

Lafayette: The Lost Hero

PBS “Humanity has won its battle. Liberty now has a country,” said the Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834) of the new United States for which he fought so well. This new documentary profiles Lafayette and his wife, Marie Adrienne (1759-1807), their suffering during the French Revolution, and Lafayette’s emotional return visit to America in 1824.

CATHOLICTV A religious order founded in 1980, the Brotherhood of Hope brings the Gospel to young adults and students at secular colleges and trains them to evangelize in turn. This new, 13-part series re-airs at 6pm Fridays and 11:30am and 10:30pm Saturdays.
