Philadelphia City Hall seems to be hoping that pro-lifers forget that life is sacred. Good luck with that.

Forty seven victims of abortionist Kermit Gosnell were treated as non-human waste from the moment they were conceived. Their inhumane treatment continues even now, months after abortionist Kermit Gosnell was convicted of murder in the City of Brotherly Love.

Currently, the city’s medical examiner’s office faces quite the conundrum. Archbishop Charles Chaput along with several pro-life leaders asked for the release of the remains of the 47 babies for proper burial. Now, mind you, Gosnell was only convicted with the murder of three of these bodies, not all. The rest were what, collateral damage? Here’s the thing, to allow those babies to be released, honored, and buried would admit their humanity. But Philadelphia doesn’t want to be seen acknowledging the humanity of abortion victims.

A spokesperson for the city reportedly said the city can only release the bodies to family members. That appears to be a lie because on the city’s website under FAQ’s it states:

Who can claim a body at the Medical Examiner's Office?

Anyone, including friends and neighbors, may claim a body three days after the date of pronouncement of death.

“Anyone…” “Anyone…” Maybe “Anyone” means something different to the city of Philadelphia. Because it seems to me that by “Anyone” they mean anyone execpt those who will respect the humanity of Gosnell’s victims. You see, once anyone starts burying the bodies of the aborted, it changes the discussion. If anyone acknowledges the humanity of the aborted, where does it stop? City Hall doesn’t want to go there. They seem more comfortable with talk of “products of conception” and “blobs of tissue.”

That’s why you’d have to think the last thing the city wants to see is anyone marching outside the medical examiner’s office holding up placards with names for Gosnell’s victims. But that’s what they’re doing.

I spoke with Kristan Hawkins, the head of Students for Life, who was at a protest last week outside the medical examiner’s office along with dozens of others. ““The city wants to put this under the rug about Kermit Gosnell and the House of Horrors,” she said. “I think it’s about abortion politics.”

“They want this issue to go away,” she said. “We just want a proper humane burial for those 47 babies he killed."

Shockingly, the city told The Philadelphia Inquirer that they can hold the bodies for up to ten years before releasing them for burial. Ten years? For what? Gosnell is in jail already. The trial is over. And he reportedly waived his right to an appeal. But the city is saying they may keep the remains of these babies for ten years? That seems to me that they intend to outwait anyone and everyone’s interest in this matter. That means they think Kristan Walker and the Students for Life will forget. They think you will forget.

As of now, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Kristan told me that they intend to hold another event on November 1, All Souls Day. “We’ll be calling national attention towards this,” she said. “We want to call attention to the inhumanity these children suffered and show that even in death they are not humanely treated.”

Anyone can come. I think I’ll try to be there as well to show that I won’t forget. Please don’t forget. Anyone?
