D.C. Arrival
Register Executive Editor Tom Hoopes is blogging live from today’s March for Life in Washington, D.C.
We gathered together in the parking lot of Holy Apostles Seminary and College in Cromwell, Conn., with temperatures in the teens. We left at 11 p.m. for an all-night bus ride.
There are four of us, this year: Dad, two teenage daughters and a 10-year-old son. The children have all been at the March for Life most years of their life, starting when they were in utero. Mom stayed home with the other four children; she’s due to give birth soon.
After eight hours of driving, we arrived in Washington in darkness, and then the sun came up, revealing tributaries of marchers in buses like ours, in vans and cars, traveling from far and near to fill up the Mall.
Walking through Washington, we’re seeing images of Obama everywhere. One convenience store even says: “We’ve got Obama water!”
We passed by the White House and wondered what he’s doing in there.
Mixing with the Obama fever are marchers with signs like, “I Regret My Abortion and “I Regret My Lost Fatherhood.”
It looks like it will be a beautiful sunny marching day, full of sadness and hope.
