Moms and Modesty

Facts of Life

The pro-life effort 1000 Moms (HeroicMedia.org/1000moms) has grown since its launch last year. The aim is "to help build a culture of life within our communities" through prayer and other support, including social media, according to Catholic News Agency.

Another good witness is modesty. In a recent essay on modest summer fashion at LeahDarrow.com, Catholic speaker Leah Darrow weighed in on summer clothing and true beauty.

"We know from our own experience that women want to be beautiful, loved and to do something great in this world. This desire for beauty, love and greatness includes but goes beyond exterior. When we see a person like Blessed Mother Teresa, our hearts swell in love for her," she wrote. "In her, we see a kind of beauty that surpassed cosmetics, a love that reached beyond the body and cared for the soul and a holy greatness packed inside such a tiny woman. …

"Women can do so much to help mankind in not falling [into sin], but we can’t do it undressed. What we wear sends a message. And so, let us do something beautiful for God. Let’s offer the world an expression of feminine beauty that reflects God."
