“Mary’s role in the Resurrection of Christ,” said Pope St. John Paul II, “was the completion of her mission at the Annunciation in Nazareth.”
The pope gave his address, dedicated to prayer in communion with Mary, in the library of the Apostolic Palace due to coronavirus restrictions.
Pope Francis is expected to bless the statue of Our Lady during a stadium Mass in Erbil on March 7.
Advent is also the time to remember how our Blessed Mother brought the Light of the World to us, as recounted from Genesis through the Epistles.
Our Lady protects us by perpetually praying for us with the urgency of a mother, with a love so ferocious that it causes the hounds of hell to whimper.
Why does Our Lady wear blue? And do we still possess her veil and belt?
There’s plenty to be excited for in this season, even if you’re not nose-deep in the liturgical calendar.
“The Blessed Virgin's salutary influence on men … flows forth from the superabundance of the merits of Christ, rests on his mediation, depends entirely on it, and draws all its power from it.” (Lumen Gentium)
Our Lady wants us to know, without doubt, how much she and her Son love us.
