The Truth Needs You
“For decades, through times of struggle and even persecution, the Register has survived and persevered. But now, the economic recession has hit us hard, and the Register is facing a dangerously growing deficit.”
That’s what I say here, in the strangely paranoid style of fund-raising copy. This one isn’t so paranoid, though.
The Register has indeed been through many times of struggle, and even persecution. Decades ago, the KKK was persecuting Msgr. William Smith, who founded the Register in 1927. We weathered that storm.
Now, it’s high postal rates and the economic downturn that threaten us.
But we’re even more relevant than ever. We won the fight against the KKK; we hope to win the fight against the foes of the Church today.
And if we helped to topple anti-Catholic laws back then, we can help topple anti-life, anti-family—and don’t count out anti-Catholic—laws now.
Religious people donate far more than non-religious people, so I’m sure many of our readers will step forward. I personally always jump at the opportunity to participate in these “double your donation” opportunities. It’s a great chance to do a lot of good with your donation.
Keep us in your prayers this Holy Week, and if think you can make just ... one ... last ... Lenten sacrifice, consider the work of the Register a candidate for it.
Thanks!
