Parents Take Battle With Planned Parenthood to Next Level (7641)

Outrage grows against organization's sex instruction in schools.

Growing involvement in public schools on the part of Planned Parenthood has led to mounting grassroots opposition against the organization’s comprehensive sex education targeting K-12 students in public schools.

“We’re seeing more and more concerned citizens going to their school boards and elected officials demanding that Planned Parenthood-type curriculum be dumped,” said Rita Diller, national director of American Life League’s Stop Planned Parenthood Project (STOPP). Diller monitors grassroots efforts for the pro-life organization.

Parents in Onalaska, Wash., for instance, expressed outrage June 12 during a Fox News broadcast. They said their children were quiet, withdrawn and embarrassed to talk about what had happened in school the day before. When Curtis and Jean Pannkuk began questioning their 11-year-old daughter, they discovered that the principal had given the fifth-graders instruction on oral and anal sex.
“Our daughter didn’t want to go back to school. She cried all the way to school today,” said Curtis Pannkuk.

James Gilliland was enraged that his daughter’s innocence was stripped from her. His wife, Kadra, said, “I was shocked because I trusted my little country school. I trusted my school — that’s the bottom line, and they crossed the line.”

“It’s just the same as raping somebody, but you’re raping their innocence, instead of their physical being,” said Gilliland. “This curriculum has to go.”

The instruction was part of state-approved comprehensive sex education developed and pushed by Planned Parenthood, NARAL, Pro-Choice Washington, the Sexuality Education and Information Council of the United States (SIECUS), and a host of other organizations.

The graphic sex-ed incident at Onalaska is neither isolated nor new. Planned Parenthood and cohorts have been giving comprehensive sex-education instruction in the public schools since the 1970s.

John Pisciotta, a parent from Waco, Texas, who combats Planned Parenthood’s public-school agenda via his website ProLifeWaco.com, noted: “The label that PP gives to its ‘just do it’ approach to teen and pre-teen sex is ‘comprehensive sex education.’”

Besides various Planned Parenthood programs now being taught in thousands of U.S. schools, Planned Parenthood’s contraceptive-based sex-ed program has been adopted by the National Assembly of School-Based Health Care. The assembly has a membership of 2,000 school-based health centers, initially called “school-based clinics,” nationwide.

“We’re seeing a shift in public awareness and action. There’s increased outrage and a sense of urgency,” said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League and author of Parent Power, a book about how to get Planned Parenthood out of the schools.

The shift has in part been fueled by the American Life League-produced Hooking Kids on Sex video report, which contains graphic footage of Planned Parenthood-style instruction in the schools.

Since its release in January, the report has had 700,000-plus viewings on multiple websites, including YouTube. Sedlak said that the overwhelming response to the exposé has been that of “outrage.”

“Now, a significant number of people are finally paying attention. It’s always like pulling teeth to get parents to look at something extremely offensive, yet this is what their children see in schools,” Sedlak said.

The sense of urgency comes from the fact that the Obama administration’s federal budget initially zeroed out all funding for abstinence-based programs and allocated more than $200 million of taxpayer money to implement K-12 comprehensive sex ed across the nation. Congress then voted to allocate a tiny fraction of the budget to abstinence programs.

“The ratio is 16-1 between CSE (comprehensive sex ed) and abstinence. The Obama administration has been pushing for comprehensive sex education with great tenacity,” said Valerie Huber, executive director of the National Abstinence Education Association. (The association has just released a groundbreaking report, “Sexual Risk Avoidance Education: Considerations for Protecting Teen Health,” which challenges the content, research and funding of CSE’s risk-reduction approach.)

Obamacare and Sex Ed

According to the Guttmacher Institute, a former division of Planned Parenthood, the Affordable Care Act includes “many billions of dollars in new funding for community health centers, which provide family-planning services and other basic reproductive health care to their clients, and establishes a dedicated $50-million yearly funding stream for school-based health centers, many of which provide contraceptive care to students in need.”

Recently, an article about parent Douglas Muravez of Salem, Ore., being in the thick of the battle against Planned Parenthood instruction at his child’s school was published in the Salem Statesman Journal. After learning that Planned Parenthood had signed a contract with North Salem High School and was already teaching its program at the school, Muravez sent several letters to the school board expressing his concern about hiring the nation’s largest abortion provider to teach the class.

Muravez also requested a formal hearing with the school board. His request was denied. Muravez then distributed letters to fellow parishioners at St. Joseph Catholic Church seeking help to “to save North Salem High School from Planned Parenthood.” About two dozen community members pushed for a hearing, but only three out of four required board members agreed to a hearing.

While the school superintendent promised to put a teacher at the helm next year to address Muravez’s concern, the school plans to retain Planned Parenthood’s Teen Outreach Program.

School officials, including Salem-Keizer School District Superintendent Sandy Husk, stand behind the Teen Outreach Program, despite moving to replace the Planned Parenthood instructors.

“We feel strongly that this program, which was based on curriculum developed at the national level that aligns with standards set by the Oregon Department of Education, is an excellent option for our students,” Husk wrote in a letter to parents.

Liz Delapoer of the Planned Parenthood office overseeing the contract with the school district said that the program focuses on healthy relationships, decision-making and goal setting and includes a community service project.

But Corinne Kelly, who went through Planned Parenthood’s curriculum at her alma mater, Ray High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, testified before city officials about the curriculum in 2008.

“I chose non-honors biology because I had just never had the stomach to dissect frogs and other little critters,” said the 2010 graduate of Ray High School. “Little did I know I would have to stomach much more than that. A representative from Planned Parenthood was introduced, and soon she was visiting the regular biology classes every month.

“There, I would squeamishly sit in my seat through the representative’s lectures about rape, ovulation, birth control, how to put on a condom and spermicide. It was embarrassing because I had to sit there with all the girls and guys in the classroom. I was told it was okay to have ‘safe sex’ — that it was perfectly normal to do so; that I was responsible enough to make my own decisions, and, in case I ever slipped up, they would be there to help.”

“I got the sense that they were somewhat expecting me to fail — that it was impossible to remain celibate for four years in a public high school with raging teenage hormones,” she said. “Well, I am happy to say that it is my third year of high school, and, recently, I have been able to help begin an abstinence club. … Why I am here today is because I did not want to witness any more of my friends hurt by a bad decision encouraged by Planned Parenthood.”

Bottom Line

For parent Kristie Rutledge of Rockport, Texas, the wake-up call came when Planned Parenthood outreach staff tried to recruit her daughter to become a youth advocate for its program.

After examining Planned Parenthood’s instructional materials and investigating its local operations, Rutledge saw that Planned Parenthood’s bottom line in the schools was “to encourage sexual promiscuity among students in order to increase sales of contraceptives to young children and, ultimately, to push abortions on vulnerable girls.”

“Planned Parenthood’s curriculum and outreach programs look good on paper, but they are really just an outline designed to engage students in highly provocative, open discussions giving PP staff many opportunities to impart their sexual ideology upon our children,” Rutledge said.

Last year, Rutledge, along with local pro-life groups and pregnancy centers, protested Planned Parenthood’s curriculum. She told the school board, “The curriculum completely contradicts district and state policy by undermining abstinence and promoting sexual promiscuity with the instructions for students ‘to decide for themselves what abstinence means’ and what ‘having sex’ means.”

Rutledge utilized resources from pro-life and abstinence-based organizations, including the American Life League and the National Abstinence Education Association, and relied on STOPP’s “Plan for Defeating Planned Parenthood.” She helped develop a network of concerned citizens that collected information on Planned Parenthood’s teen programs through student testimony, public information requests and Internet research.

The ALL affiliate group South Texas STOPP also researched and distributed information on the individual and societal hazards of comprehensive sex education. (See “A Psychoanalytic Look at Today’s Sex Education” by Melvin Anchell, M.D., author of books on the subject, including What’s Wrong With Sex Education and Killers of Children.)

South Texas STOPP gathered more than 5,000 signatures on a petition opposing Planned Parenthood’s educational materials and public funding of their programs. A letter-writing campaign yielded dozens of letters to the editor, while hundreds of concerned citizens attended city council, county hospital district and school board meetings demanding Planned Parenthood’s programs targeting teens be dropped.

Rutledge stated, “The casual sex, hook-up culture that is promoted in comprehensive sex-education programs in our schools drives a wedge between parents and their children and is leading to the destruction of families and society at large. Parents have the duty to be the primary educators of their children, not Planned Parenthood. This is our battle.”

Many strange things have happened in human history, most of which we do not know.  But of what we do know, abortion and this PP curriculum are humai=nity at it’s most vulgary.  How much worse can it get than this?  I do not ant to know that.  Pray to the Immaculate heart of Mary of Fatima, pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for an end to this, and in reparations for our sins for not having stopped it before it began.  Timmy

It is sexual abuse to present children with age inappropriate material. if the Hooking Kids on Sex video is an accurate reafforestation of this programme, it is hard to see how what’s going on in the name of education is anything other than abuse.

Something’s wrong when schools can refuse to give a child Tylenol without a permission slip, yet the school can & does help teenage girls obtain abortions without parental knowledge or consent. These are the same people who lobby against cigarette ads because smoking is unhealthy. Well, casual sex is unhealthy in many ways too and the consequences are life-changing as well! Permanent STD’s and unplanned pregnancies, anyone? Loss of trust and innocence?  No wonder so many teens and young adults seem so unhappy these days.

Can parents pull their kids from these classes? Don’t the schools have to provide some kind of disclosure to the parents BEFORE rather than AFTER exposing kids to this?  Where is the accountability?

Is there anything parents can do BEFOREHAND so that their kid is not exposed to this stuff?  Can kids opt out?

Was it the principal of the school that talked anal sex to kids, or was it a PP instructor? Because if that was the principal, I’d go down there and tell him to take a long look at his office, he’s about to get fired for perversion and moral terpitude. How interesting that kids cannot legally buy adult magazines in a store by themselves, yet adults are giving this to kids in schools free…using our tax dollars. Crazy world.

So how do we stop pp from entering our public schools?  Do we start with our school board members? Help !

Teaching “how-to’s” of oral and anal (sodomy) sex to eleven-year-olds!?! This goes way beyond the pale of anything remotely acceptable. Parents who want to protect their children from that kind of indoctrination need to organize and make it crystal clear to the members of their local school boards they *shall* lose their posts when the next they are up for re-election. They would also take parents seriously if parents pulled their children out of public school in large numbers in order to educate them at home.

If adults & children had these graphic conversations in any other setting it might be considered abusive activity or sexual harassment by the adult. The children have not given any consent, nor apparrently the parents.Sometimes litigation is the only thing school districts take seriously.

You are correct. This is nothing less than pornographic sexual abuse of minors!

Well, no. When priests stick their paws into little boys’ pants, and the Catholic Church powers that be look the other way, THAT is just like raping someone.

“the principal had given the fifth-graders instruction on oral and anal sex…”

Which is why we homeschool in our household, but that’s beside the point. This is pure insanity. The principal should be arrested and charged with obscenity or corrupting minors.

This is what we get when Catholics vote for Democrats and their culture of death agenda.

The next presidential election will determine the course of our nation’s future history.  If Obama is elected again, Democrat immorality will prevail, and free elections will vanish.  Those traitors that vote for him will no longer merit salvation, and the Democrat Party will fall on the scrap heap of all failed socialist mockery’s of God.  Thank God for promising that He would never allow this to prevail over those who love, honor, worship, and obey Him.

I notice you don’t name the school district allegedly teaching fifth-graders about oral or anal sex. Until you do, it remains unverified and, frankly, unbelievable.

Oh the battle that must take place now many years after PP introduced their perverted sex ed curriculum into the schools, many catholic schools as well.  Going back to 1988, when our catholic school allowed sex ed to begin, my youngest child was in 5th grade.  Taking up the fight with a few other mothers only, it culminated with the diocese, and I was told it was best to remove my child from the school. We transferred to another catholic school which was promising to remove the sex ed course, but that didn’t happen.  Another battle.  I remember a book that was recommended, “Sex Education, The Final Plague”.  I did not read it but sounds right on the money to me.

An after thought if I may. Good parents, go for it.  Give it everything you’ve got to fight this evil monster, preying on our children and now, our grandchildren.  Don’t forget to get the grandpops and grandmoms involved too.  I would love to have Mother Angelica leading this fight. Wow!  Actually, she is.  From her sickbed with her sufferings.  Very powerful.  In the meantime, I will recruit as many grandparents and seniors to pray the Holy Rosary for this intention. And recruit prayer power through Facebook.  God bless and God speed with Our Lady’s Army of Angels.

It appears that anecdotal information is sufficient to set the hair on fire for some.  I would have greatly preferred to see an actual video rather than some other groups depiction of what they presumed was taught.

I would also like to know when the parents here started talking to their own children about sex.  Do you allow your kids to watch TV - do you sit with them so that they never see any type of “sexual behavior” - which includes commercials.
I was in a Walmart and they stock KY-Jelly in the Family Planning Isle.
While some will say they and they alone as parents will teach their children all they need to know about sex - I have my doubts, but take your word for it.
I would also want a sane response rather than a knee-jerk response to this issue, which appears to be a group who is pushing an agenda.

You only have to look at how the administration and the progressives who run the Democratic party (and are doing their best to infiltrate the Republicans) view human relationships to understand why and how our society is in shambles today.
There is hardly any human condition for which there is not an over bloated fraud ridden virtual money pit governmental solution coming out of Washington either through legislation or edict perpetrated by the career minded ruling class who have assumed the mantel of benevolent masters of a nomadic entitlement seeking citizenry.
There is plenty more but we can start with the CHILDREN.
There are government schools in every community which have a curriculum set up to teach what every growing child should know.  These include but are not limited to, How to sing Obama Um, Um, Um, how it’s possible to have two moms or dads and not just one of each, and why it is ok if moms like women best or dads like men best. As they mature they are taught the various ways they or adults can show affection for each other male or female, the dangers of sex with the opposite sex and how to apply a free government supply of condoms to protect against the main danger, what government assistance is available to them if sex gets them sick, and most importantly if they, god forbid, should be punished (the presidents word not mine) by being pregnant the government well funded Planned Parenthood is just around the corner to get rid of your problem child. Now you can graduate with honors (and with a little help from the public school administration that has covered for your inaptitude in order to preserve their funding) try to find a job in a jobless market. But if you can’t find one the government will foot the bill for you at the nearest fun and games college of your choice IF you promise to go to work for the wonderful government that gave you all the blessings of a godless anti-voucher budget busting unionize LIBERAL education.
Every lockstep Democrat in congress has to admit this is all true and they are the architects of it. AND it is not only available to every American citizen but also the illegal aliens within our wide open borders which the Obama DOJ refuses to protect and won’t allow the states to police.

PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!  Our world is so mired in sin, I cannot help but think the messages delivered by our Blessed Mother at Garabandal and Medjugorje will occur soon. Many will be converted and many will be lost but all will be given the grace required for redemption.  GOD bless us all!

This is such a load of lies and propaganda that it isn’t worthy of a retort.  People want to believe these lies because they don’t use the brains God gave them. They follow the leader like lemmings over the cliff.

First I refer you to the following article:  http://cnsnews.com/news/article/public-school-offers-open-jar-free-indian-made-condoms-kids-12 -  once you read this article, you will understand what is coming to the school your child attends. The school mentioned in the article (no longer the same school as in ‘Remember the Titans’ fame) appears to already have - and may well have been the model for -  the School Clinics mandated in the Affordable Care Act.  In the law, schools will have clinics where your children of any age will be able to receive services and counseling. The only time you will need to consent will be for vaccinations and some other true medical needs.  As for birth control, no consent is necessary and under the law, your child may be referred out to the ‘local community’ for ‘services allowed under local custom’ - read: if your state or city allows abortion without parental consent, your child can be referred and transported to somewhere (PP) to receive an abortion and returned to school without your knowledge.  Your child can then come home and if they have complications, you won’t know what is wrong unless you end up in the ER (even then, privacy act states docs can not tell you what is wrong).
With these types of programs being mandated and the pilot programs like the one in Texas where your childs lunch tray is bar-coded so their caloric intake is monitored it is truly the government who will ‘own’ our children.
One thing to think about: your child can not get their teeth cleaned without a signed consent from you!!!!

Sorry, I can’t agree with you people.  If you notice on the beginning of the article, it said “State Approved”  That means YOU, not NARAL, or PP.  The voters of your state, through your elected officials, that you voted for approved whatever it was.  But of course, lets demonize someone else.  Must be a liberal trick!.. must be those damn PP people… No, maybe you should take some responsibility for your own children.  But if you just keep pushing the “abstinence only model”, start counting the new babies that arrive!

with the filth of homosexual depravity and abortion accepted by the world as normal, with the Churches moral authority being silenced by the homosexual priests abuse scandal…...since the minds of abortionists and homosexuals cannot be convinced they are wrong and on the road to hell…i really believe that God will allow obama to win re-election to punish the Church further for the priest abuse abomination, and the pro-choice catholics who take birth control….since the minds of the pro-choice and homosexuals cant be changed, i really believe THAT GOD HIMSELF WILL SEND A DIVINE DISASTER WORLD WIDE WITH SUCH DEVASTATION UNLIKE SINCE THE FLOOD OF NOAH, in punishment for our acceptance of sin as normal

When I went through much milder “instruction” in 5th grade, I was physically sick.  Over the years, I came to realize that the school was diabolical to give no warning to me or my parents, that these people are perverts and evil in their intent.  It is adults sexualizing, molesting children.  Until this is treated as sex abuse and prosecuted, it will increase.  And hit the schools and administrators personally in their wallets!

Planned Parenthood must have informed its supporters of this article - TROLLS EVERYWHERE!

—-David, you do realize that school boards set policy as well as the Department of Education setting out ‘mandates’ rather than leaving these types of decisions to schools and parents.Often the decisions that the school boards make are without any input from parents.  More and more the ‘state’ (school boards, state and federal agencies) are setting guidelines - most of these are non-elected officials setting policy.  If you read my previous post, you might want to read the bill yourself and you will find that the clinics and services will be decided by HHS, Dept of Ed and/or the many new agencies that will be formed as mandated by the law.  Don’t forget, the law was passed with only votes from one party - not necessarily representative of the people. That seems to be part of the problem today, the politicians voting for what they want, for themselves and their donors not what the people want.  Locally, people need to demand a say in the decisions made by the school boards and individual schools.  Get involved or we will lose any chance we have to be heard.

This is an amazing video to share.  If this is what she left behind in Mexico, I cannot wait to see the Sign she will leave in Medj!!

To all the lemmings out there. ENJOY!

Planned Parenthood is all about sex, money, deception and ABORTION and they are working hard to recruit their next customer - our children and grandchildren.

Take a look at the Director of Planned Parenthood in this video.  She is complaining that is illegal in the state of Texas to push abortion on vulnderable girls on public school property.
http://texasnevertoldher.com/pregnancy.html

Find out who is preying on your children at school.  Follow the STOPP Plan.  Public information requests to the school for all sexuality course materials and names of authors and presenters of sexuality materials can be helpful.

Beware of the School Health Clinic.  Planned Parenthood could be working behind the scenes through the Health Clinic to prey on your child.

What to do?  Put articles in your parish bulletins warning parents to consider the facts in this article when they’re deciding between the parish and a public school.

I am so sorry this world has gone this way…porno is bad but sex ed is good….so confusing to a child??? it is so baffling to me an adult…the pain that too much info is bad…and the other is no info is awful too…
I don’t know we don’t live in the ‘50’s any more…a pandora’s box was opened…we have to shut it down fast…Victorian times was bad…let our kids read about the conscaquences of doing wrong in life…we have to tell them…they won’t listen…because their friends are doing things the wrong way but society says it is ok…oh what a evil quagmire…abuse of our kids…abortion is the ultament of abuse in my booK ... life is so hard…teach our kids the right way…each child is different…parents teach love and respect…thank you for sharing this article…sorry I am so long here…trying to instruct some of my teen grandchildren…praying for them…

Personally, if I still had school-aged children, they would not be in public school.  They would be home-schooled with good Catholic curriculum or in a Catholic school.

You cannot expect as a parent to give your children a moral education in public school. I know some kids go to rural schools where parents think their kids won’t be subjected to the same type of problems in inner-city schools, but according to this article, that is no guarantee.

If you have to, sell off some of your belongings and afford to have Mom stay home and teach her children, OR afford to send your children to a Catholic or private school.  One of the greatest gifts a parent can give their children is a good and safe education. You parents with young children are now forming the next generation of this country. How would you like to see your country look in 15 or 20 years?

“Planned Parenthood” is inhuman.

For “concerned parent” and others with children in the schools, a warning: even where there is a requirement to notify parents about upcoming sex-ed classes, many schools are getting around it by reclassifying the curriculum as HEALTH education, or even social studies. Parents just cannot be passive about this, they need to actively engage the school and teacher, asking what lessons are being taught and what the curriculum is. And if someone objects to telling you what will be taught, consider it a big red flag.

St Gerard, please pray for the protection and safety of our children and the unborn.

A young woman died today from an abortion performed at Planned Parenthood!  God help us all!

God help YOU all.  You are on your knees praying to keep your children ignorant about sex, while the church you are praying in is filled with predatory pedophiles, and that same church has been fighting tooth and nail for decades to keep their own dirty sexual habits and secrets swept under a very very heavy rug.  I for one want my children to know all about anal and oral sex, safe sex, and how to protect themselves from all predators, including and especially the priestly ones.  SHAME SHAME SHAME.  I am sure you will not print this, though you print a lot of lies, but the world knows about the priest abuse abomination, and you cannot hide it any longer.  Sexuality is a gift from the creator.  Knowledge is power, and that includes sexual knowledge.  A child who has been educated is unlikely to be lured by a pedophile priest.

Clairette Rose, We have all heard your rant many times over. Of course no one condones what took place and the awful sins of some priests. That said, have you bothered to contact your local schools and demand accountability for the dozens upon dozens of teachers, aides, counselors and other staff who have molested and abused children for many, many years?  When you stand up for all children and call out all the sinners then you can feel vindicated. if you are simply one of the Catholic haters then nothing we say to you will matter, you have tunnel vision. I implore you to become engaged at your local level, how about volunteering as a Guardian Ad Litem to help these children. There are many children who are victims of the staff, bus drivers, music teachers and others in the government school system, many churches of all denominations, sports coaches, private tutors, doctors and yes, even our neighbors.  So, if you do not do whatever you can then SHAME< SHAME< SHAME on you. I also disagree somewhat with your contention that ‘knowledge is power’ when it comes to sexuality, I think many more children have become victims because of curiosity after they are taught things that they are far too young to comprehend. I also think that our society has been infiltrated by the ‘anything goes’ attitude and our laws are so lax that many abusers are given the opportunity time and again to repeat the abuse on even more victims.  If more people would look out for our children and make our schools, streets and playgrounds safe for our children again then they would not have to be taught far too much about sex far too early—- they might even get the chance to be children for a while, would that be lovely?
