I just called the Department of Justice today. I have never done anything like this before but I felt compelled.
You see, it was all over the news yesterday that the DOJ had set up a special hotline number and an email address to report potential civil rights violations by the government!
Finally, I thought. Finally the government is willing to listen to us ordinary citizens whose God-given rights are being trampled and ignored in favor of the government's misguided and over-zealous policy initiatives.
No. I am not an illegal alien. But if the government has its way, I am soon to be an illegal Catholic. This because I refuse to be intimidated by and to comply with government agencies that try to force me to buy things the violate my religious beliefs.
So thought it was a great thing that at least one part of the government is concerned about civil rights violations by other parts of the government, so I called.
I am not sure exactly what the answer I received means, but I am sure my religious liberty will be restored soon. The answer I got was cryptic but encouraging. "Mailbox is full." I am sure that thousands of other abused Catholics got the same idea and called the civil rights abuse hotline at 1-855-353-1010. But just in case, I think you should call it too just so they get the message.

I am so grateful that you are concerned enough about civil rights violations by an out of control government to set up a hotline and this email mailbox.
I am sure you are not aware of it (or you would certainly have done something by now) but there are departments in your own government that are trampling on the rights of law abiding citizens for no other reason than they are Catholic!
Can you imagine?
They are trying to make us buy something that violates our consciences and that our Church has taught for over 2,000 years is an intrinsic moral evil. Moreover, they want us to pay for (and thus subsidize) drugs that actually kill unborn children in the womb! I know, right?
Anyway, I am glad I have this opportunity to report these egregious violations of God-given and constitutionally guaranteed civil rights. I look forward to your swift action to remedy the situation now that you know about it.

This is wonderful. But if illegal aliens are filling up their voice mail, since they are illegal, they should not have any civil rights. Civil rights are limited to Citizens of the United States. This administration is so damn stupid, as are the people who will be voting to put them into office, both Citizens and those who will be voting illegally.

Funny how some people can ignore religious rights/liberty because they, themselves are not believers. If they would think this through, they would realize that whether believers or not, history tells us their rights, along with everyone else’s are next on the chopping block. Do they believe for a moment this is only about Catholics? This mandate should concern everyone, including atheists.

I called and the msg now says “if you are calling about the immigration policies in AL or AZ, leave a msg.” I left one remarking that those laws were insufficient to prevent all the illegals entering our country and that giving illegals the right to vote as Obama is working toward violates MY civil rights as a citizen. Probably already on “the list” but if not, this should do it. It is surprising and very gratifying to see how many Christians are open to martyrdom if called for. “Live free or die” seems to be too much an American value for the POTUS to comprehend. My ancestors have been fighting and dying for our freedom since 1609 and I don’t want to shame them. Or my Catholic faith. Obama should taken Jefferson’s advice and back off having the state control the practice of religion. If there is one thing that convinces me that our president is not American, at least at heart, it is this lack of understanding of American character and values.

CeCi, yes, one has to be a citizen of the US to be able to vote…legally. Too many who are not citizens are voting anyway and this administration is doing NOTHING to prevent it; in fact, they are actively fighting states who are trying to prevent it.
Skye you really need to do some research on this and stop watching the Fox Network. Here in Utah and in most States you need a valid drivers license or state ID, or other proof of citizenship in order to vote. AGAIN ONLY US CITIZENS NATIVE BORN OR NATURALIZED CAN VOTE HERE IN THE USA. NO UNDOCUMENTED PERSON CAN VOTE FOR PRESIDENT

Traveler do some research on voter registration. Maybe in your state they even let prisoners on death row vote. Now days with priests having a taste for young children, nothing surprises me anymmore.
CeCi—In California it is specifically forbidden for poll workers to ask for any kind of ID. If you say you are Eric Holder, and Eric Holder is registered to vote, they must give you a ballot. Just to make it easier, three times a day they must post the list of people registered to vote at that precinct, telling which of them have voted or not up to the time of that posting. But there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE that anyone takes advantage of this and votes by someone else’s name. Nope, no evidence.
(I now live in Colorado. No ID either, but they don’t post the registration list.)
It is good that Utah requires ID.

I did exactly that two days ago. I told the lady that answered that I wanted to report three individual who were breaking immigration laws: Barack Obama, Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano.
When I told her she should be ashamed of working for such a corrupt outfit, I think she hung up on me.

When I voted in N.C. They asked my name & I offered my voter registration card and they said you are already on the list, so we don’t have to see it. She didn’t ask for proof that I was that person….anyone could have stolen my voter registration and used my name. There are hundreds of people who vote and shouldn’t. They are not legal citizens and this irks me. [my civil right] Obama is allowing these illegals to vote for him. As to healthcare, everyone will have it for what they can afford…which means if I can afford a $100 policy, I will get that much coverage and if I can afford a $500 policy, I will get much better coverage.This is what you call a Tier Policy, just like our RX and Supplemental. My daughter has a tumor in her head and should have a MRI every six months to make sure it has not grown, her doctor said that if healthcare passes, she won’t be able to have the MRI unless she shows symptoms [one of which is blindness, etc. That is not preventative medicine. We have a bunch of jerks running this country and it will become a socialist country before we know it. One English accent doctor is predicting it as she saw it happen in the UK and Canada. Also they have nothing in the Bill about suing doctors, which is another reason why healthcare is so high. Also Obama promised and promised since 2009 that he will not raise taxes….another lie. I tried to find a doctor for someone and when I told them she was 69, they immediately said the doctor is no longer taking Medicare Pts.

What we are pointing out is that without voter ID there is no mechanism at all to enforce that only the person who really registered is the one who is actually voting. If you say you are Eric Holder, and Eric Holder is registered to vote, they will give you a ballot and record that Eric Holder has voted. Without TRYING to enforce this, all the bluster about “well no one ever really does that” is just hot air, because we have no way of knowing, do we?
