COMMENTARY: As we honor America this year, there are several things we can do to honor the institution of our country. First, we can go to Mass with our families.
In a July 2 column, he reflected there is a fittingness to celebrating the memorial of St. Junípero Serra three days before Independence Day.
Whether it is self-evident or not, it is the philosophical belief in the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that helped make America both great and good.
COMMENTARY: Individual Americans have stepped up in times of strife since the first Independence Day.
There were significant contributions of so many courageous men and women, many of whom were Catholics, to what has been called ‘the great American experiment.’
