I’ll miss the camaraderie, the mission, and even the routines — but I’m grateful I’ll still be wearing the ‘uniform’ of a priest. I have no plans to hang that one up.
COMMENTARY: Memorial Day isn’t about veterans like me — it’s about the fallen. From combat casualties to tragic training deaths, their memory deserves our full attention.
‘We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for people who have taken their own lives.’ (Catechism, 2283)
The more we feel our lack of dignity, the more we seek it.
COMMENTARY: Celebrate this Independence Day with both gusto and solemnity.
