TLC The Catholic Church, “the pillar and foundation of truth” (1 Timothy 3:15), is the mother of the Bible, which all Christians revere. This two-hour special tracks seven teams of grade-school and high-school students as they prepare for and take part in an annual quick-recall competition of familiarity with verses in selected books of the Bible. The winners receive scholarships.

EWTN In St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis celebrates Mass for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God and for the 49th World Day of Peace, the theme of which is “Overcome Indifference and Win Peace.” Blessed Paul VI said the solemnity “is meant to commemorate the part played by Mary in this mystery of salvation” and to “exalt the singular dignity which this mystery brings to the ‘holy Mother … through whom we were found worthy … to receive the Author of life.’”

2016 Rose Parade

ABC, HALLMARK CHANNEL, HGTV, NBC, RFD-TV, UNIVISION “Find Your Adventure” is the theme of the 127th Tournament of Roses Parade. The event this year will feature 42 floral floats, 20 marching bands and 19 equestrian units in procession along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, Calif.

PBS Julie Andrews returns to tour the city and host this annual concert in the beautiful Musikverein. The Vienna Philharmonic under Mariss Jansons will play favorite Strauss Family waltzes, and the Vienna Boys’ Choir and the Vienna City Ballet will perform.
