Publisher's Note

As reflected by your loyal readership, you have come to expect the Register to provide you accurate journalism that, rightly, reports the news of the world through the filter of the Church’s timeless teaching.

With the efforts to redefine marriage, the push to propagate a culture of death through easily obtainable contraception and abortion on demand, and the infringements on religious freedom, it’s important for you to have someone to rely on to keep you abreast of the issues as they pertain to our faith — and to be a partner in helping to form and inform the consciences of the people in your lives. That’s what separates us from the rest of the pack.

That has always been our mission at the Register and EWTN — in whatever medium you find us: in print, on television, radio and the Internet. And, given our growing circulation at the Register, you are affirming our mission.

EWTN will expand on that commitment to you this summer with a new nightly news program. Responding to the need for more accurate news from a reliable Catholic source, EWTN News Nightly With Colleen Carroll Campbell will launch this July. Building on the success of EWTN’s many other news initiatives, we hope this new program will fill the gap that exists in today’s television news environment.

I am grateful for your continued commitment to us, and we renew our commitment to bring you the news of the world through the lens of the Church.

God bless you!

The Earth is Not Our Mother

“The main point of Christianity was this: that Nature is not our mother: Nature is our sister. We can be proud of her beauty, since we have the same father; but she has no authority over us; we have to admire, but not to imitate.”—G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy
