Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez

– CNA/Matthew Rarey

Following is the full statement on the release of clergy files, published Jan. 31 by Los Angeles Archbishop José Gomez:

My brothers and sisters in Christ,

This week we are releasing the files of priests who sexually abused children while they were serving in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

These files document abuses that happened decades ago. But that does not make them less serious.

I find these files to be brutal and painful reading. The behavior described in these files is terribly sad and evil. There is no excuse, no explaining away what happened to these children. The priests involved had the duty to be their spiritual fathers, and they failed.

We need to acknowledge that terrible failure today. We need to pray for everyone who has ever been hurt by members of the Church. And we need to continue to support the long and painful process of healing their wounds and restoring the trust that was broken.

I cannot undo the failings of the past that we find in these pages. Reading these files, reflecting on the wounds that were caused, has been the saddest experience I’ve had since becoming your archbishop in 2011.

My predecessor, retired Cardinal Roger Mahony, has expressed his sorrow for his failure to fully protect young people entrusted to his care. Effective immediately, I have informed Cardinal Mahony that he will no longer have any administrative or public duties. Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Curry has also publicly apologized for his decisions while serving as vicar for clergy. I have accepted his request to be relieved of his responsibility as the regional bishop of Santa Barbara.

To every victim of child sexual abuse by a member of our Church: I want to help you in your healing. I am profoundly sorry for these sins against you.

To every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, I want you to know: We will continue, as we have for many years now, to immediately report every credible allegation of abuse to law enforcement authorities and to remove those credibly accused from ministry. We will continue to work, every day, to make sure that our children are safe and loved and cared for in our parishes, schools and in every ministry in the archdiocese.

In the weeks ahead, I will address all of these matters in greater detail. Today is a time for prayer and reflection and deep compassion for the victims of child sexual abuse.

I entrust all of us and our children and families to the tender care and protection of our Blessed Mother Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Our Lady of the Angels.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend José H. Gomez

Archbishop of Los Angeles

Finally! Now let’s hear the rest of tithe story and connect the dots! Go-Go Gomez, proceed with the purification!

“Good” news of sorts.  Glad to see the continued purification.  After reading numerous documents relating to the abuse scandal in my own diocese, which were archived by a watchdog group, I felt like I had to rinse my eyes with hand sanitizer.  It is just unbelievable what went on, for how long, and how many people knew about it.  The most telling story however, and one that you absolutely will not read about in any secular news source, is the narrative of homosexual practice concurrent with child abuse.  The abusers in a large part were one in the same, but the abuses were treated very differently by the mass media.

Well, this is years and years late, and probably won’t be taken seriously by victims and those outside the Church. Let’s do better from here on out. Let’s teach the full truth of human sexuality and the dignity of human life. Let’s defend marriage bravely. And let’s see our bishops lead us towards Christ!

My heart goes out to Archbishop Gomez and the many Bishops who have inherited the environment they find themselves in.  However, I truly believe, wholeheartedly, that it’s no coincidence that these new breed of bishops came at the time that they did.  God, has called them to renew His church and it’s may not be easy, but they are decedents of the Chosen to be the new Spring time in the Church.

God bless.

Nearly all these sex abuse cases against Catholic priests involve homosexual priests.  The church made a grave mistake by allowing so many of them into the priesthood after Vatican II.  Yes I know that they said on on their entry into the priesthood that they didn’t have “strong homosexual urges”, or however the question was asked, and that they could live a life of celibacy but the the vast majority of them lied.  Documented studies have shown that homosexual men have a much harder time controlling their sexual urges than heterosexual men.  I think the church should start precluding any man who has same-sex sexual attraction from the priesthood.  I am just one man, but that is my opinion. You would still have some that say they are not homosexual, and a few would slip through the cracks, but absolutely nothing like the thousands of homosexuals that were let into the priesthood after Vatican II.  The media has a love affair with homosexuals and see wrong with this un-Godly lifestyle, so when they report on sex abuse cases in the Catholic Church they will never tell you that it involved homosexual priests.  They like to tar and feather all priests as sexual predators of children. Pray for our priests.  99% of them are not at fault.

The media needs to look into the abuse of children in public schools and see the cover up that occured and occures in that system.

Good riddance.  Other retired bishops of the same ilk should be shown the same door.

Go Gomez!

Sincerity is rarely perceivable so clearly as in this letter from the AB.  As a member in a neighboring diocese, none of our parishes are unaffected by these horrible abuses, but we can all continue to be sincerely apologetic for them.  Many examples of apologist scholars and theologians are available for us to discern how we will respond to our brothers and sisters in Christ who do not, as Ms. Rossinni writes above, feel capable of accepting apology on grave matters of both human dignity and evil.  We can prevail.  Pray for us.

Thank you ArchBishop Gomez for your leadership and courage.  I pray for healing in your Diocese and for your priests and hierarchy led astray.  God continue to give you the strength, guidance and wisdom and to carry out your difficult mission.  You are a good Sheperd!
Gratefully and Sincerely,
Mrs. Sharon A. Murphy

So, Mahony is relieved of public duties.

That’s nice. But in a sane word, the cardinal would be doing a nice stretch of state time—I’d say 7 years sounds about right—for his criminality in covering up the sex crimes of his priests against kids.

I tell you, send on of these pompous hypocrites to prison and the others would straighten up real fast.

Nadster, What about the narrative of heterosexual practice concurrent with child abuse?  They are sexual predators, period.

It appears that Most Reverend Jose H. Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles is well intentioned in dealing with this problem. However, I see that he has no clue as to what to do to avoid the reocurrace of the problem…
Although I agree that the most effective way to solve it is through prayer, and we all must do that, the Archbishop must talke ACTION, serious action to enforce the safety of our children… I just hope that in his follo-up address he will make some suggestions or decissions to be taken…

I would like to see the statistics on sexual abuse of priests and see how many involved homosexual priests versus straight priests.  I read it somewhere before but can’t remember the number, but the vast majority are homosexuals preying on young teenage boys, not adolescent boys.

... your jobs are not finished, good bishops and priests: and now perhaps we can begin to focus on purifying the wretched sexual abuse that goes on in this culture in millions (yes, millions) of “Catholic” homes. Incest in many forms is more common than poeple might think or even want to believe. Ask therapists, counselors, and anyone who works with wounded families.  The priestly scandal is the tip of the iceberg.

“The media needs to look into the abuse of children in public schools and see the cover up that occured and occures in that system”.

There is a much higher percentage of teachers that committed sex abuse with children than there are priests.  Schools are absolutely notorious for covering up the abuse and usually just send the teacher to another school.

THE “SMOKE OF SATAN” is being revealed, this isn’t just about sexually abused children, it is about all clergy abuse within the Holy Roman Catholic Church.  It is about everything our Blessed Mother warned us about in the Secrets at Fatima Portugal in 1917.  Pray our Bishops in union with our Holy Father consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, now!  End this diabolical disorientation that has infected the clergy and laity, including the professed, and consecrated alike.

God bless Archbishop Gomez!  He will be in my prayers because he will be challenged to be pastor to the 99% of his priests who will be looked upon by some as guilty by association.

Not only do we need to pray for the victims but for the priest who are the abusers, I pray that these priest are seeking help for themseves also, Their is no sin too great to be forgiven.  I am glad that the church is trying to clean up this mess.

Of those abused by priests, 83% were boys.
Of those abused in society in general, 50% are boys

I knew that when Pope Benedict appointed Archbishop Gomez that he would get things done!!!  Praise GOD that the Church is being cleansed of especially those in leadership who refuse to live the life of Christ!  Now please Lord let us also address the Public Officials who claim to be Catholic and yet work toward the spreading of abortion and Sodomite Marriage!!!

At many seminaries of the Catholic Church in the United States they purposely recruited homosexuals into the priesthood and blocked straight males who were faithful to the magisterium from entering the priesthood.  This was done on purpose to destroy the priesthood and church from within so they could rebuild it in their own perverted image.  Read the book Goodbye, Good Men by Michael S. Rose.  Also, The Homosexual Network by Enrique Rueda.

I wish you people would stop blaming homosexuals.  Sexual predators are responsible.

One reads about this stuff with a broken heart. The Church needs to return to it’s true mission. That of saving souls and uniting them with Our Lord, Jesus Christ. This means the Pope needs to return to stronger control over his bishops, priests and other religious. If the Church does not return to its Traditionalist roots - including the Mass, nothing will change. What a shambles the Church is in!!!! And to think, the Church did this to itself all on it’s own. Paul VI may have coined the “Smoke of Satan” phrase, but he ultimately will be judged by his actions which, among others, threw open the doors to the Evil One. Holy Mother pray for us.

Great letter.

Boy, oh boy! How about a little Christian Charity? I have read all these posts and there is judgement after judgement and censure after censure! Everyone has been condemned by the writers, from the Priests, the Bishops and the Pope himself. How does that build up the body of Christ? The abusers are predators! not all homosexuals are predators, and not all heterosexuals are perfect! Gracious! you’d think the entire CAtholic Church was one big Brothel. Let’s love one another and not blame others. God will not be mocked let Him sort it out!

A step in the right direction!

Mahony should have been terminated and purged a long time ago.  I am happy this step took place before he meets his maker!

Too little, too late, but blaming a holy Church for the actions of those acting contrary to its doctrine is unconscionable.

I am very glad to see Archbishop Gomez’s letter to the faithful.  It wasn’t only our precious children that were abused.  It was the whole church.  I have yet to see an honest admission of guilt from any of our clergy without threats of prosecution or release of documents.  We need to continue to pray for God to clean out the Church’s closet.  There are many more Cardinal Mahoneys.  These clergy should come forward no matter what price they have to pray and step down from their positions.  Such horriblness in these protection of abusers by the clergy is an abomination and as such these people should be brought to justice within the Church and outside.

If Burke or Chaput were Bishhop of NY you wouldn’t see them palling around with pro-abort, sodomite “marriage” politicians.  To me Dolan looks the other way and just wants to get along with them…...when they are causing great scandal to the Church.

Nothing would have happened, had the information not gone public. It was a Modus Operendi for our church leaders to do precisely what Cardinal Mahoney (and Law) did, aided by their seconds in command, such as the Monsignor that became the bishop of Santa Barbara.  In a way, our church IS “one big Brothel”; everyone keeps each others secrets.

Does everyone remember just one year ago, Bishop Zavala from Los Angeles admitted to having fathered two children?  Their diocese is paying for their upcoming college fees.  But it does not make up for the fact that
“Father” does not act as a father in their lives.  Only when these men are going to be outed will they admit anything is amiss.

When St. Paul’s Pastoral Letters to Timothy and Titus are heeded by Rome, with directives followed IN CONTEXT and in their fullness, we will have married MEN ordained to our ministry, helping much of what ails us.  In the meantime, children *may* be a bit safer around priests and bishops.  But teenage boys/men and women: beware.  The man with the collar may or may NOT be emotionally mature. Bishop Zavala?  61 years old.

Well….the USCCB have dug themselves in pretty deep in the last 30-40 years and they are going to have to get their ducks in a row, before the whole thing straightens out…...

when did Archbishop Gomez know what he knows today and did nothing to relieve Mahoney of his duties 1 year ago if he knew then instead of waiting till this became public again just curious cause it will come up

Br. Maurus says it well.

Is it Christian charity to deny what is right before our eyes? Statistics show that over 70% of priests in Germany do not believe in the real presence of the Holy Eucharist!!!! How is this so? The church of today is quite different from the church of 50 years ago when these “abusers” would never have seen the inside of a seminary? If one is not judgmental regarding this, then he must remove the pole that is in his eye in order to see clearly. Mahoney should be terminated. But isn’t that doing something after the horse has left the stable? The fact of the matter is that the Church permitted these men to reach positions of power. Knowledge of their evil ways was widespread. It either wasn’t to be believed or a blind eye was turned away. I submit it was both. Unless the Church reforms itself and rids itself of the silly novelties of the past 50 years it will continue its decline. The Church is Holy, but many of its leaders have not been worthy of following in the footsteps of some of the past Popes. I am Catholic. I believe in the Magisterium. With that, I believe the last truly holy Pope was Pius XII who saw the future and it is now.

I would like to see your site also carry the rebuttal by Cardinal Mohony, another California site carried.

Revnc
I continue to pray for my sins and those of the world.  I offer charity, fasting and.my sufferings.  I especially pray for victims. The Lord wants us all to turn to Him.  I give thanks to The Lord for our Holy Father, Bishops, clergy, religious, catholic lay workers and volunteers and pray they stay close to The Lord.

Rose Sweet, what do you mean by “the abuse that goes on in millions of ‘Catholic’ homes”? Honey, for your information, Jesus came to found one Church to lead humanity home.  It was the Roman Catholic Church.  And for your information, less than 1% of the Catholic Priesthood was guilty of abusing children.  Look at all the abuse that is going on in other institutions and under-reported, if reported at all.  I will pray for you, just as I do for all my non-Catholic brothers and sisters.

The Roman Catholic Church knowingly and intentionally withheld information that could have stopped the perpetrators from abusing more children. Experts such as Dr. Richard Sipe and Fr. Tom Doyle clearly identified that the chief causes behind the abuse and cover-up are due to the clerical culture that allowed this situation to exist and continue. A priest who did not feel free to identify himself for fear of repercussions from his bishop wrote, “Clericalism is not simply the burden of priests who abuse children; hierarchy betrays the whole Church by its dishonesty that they justify by a claim to superiority.”

Who is Richard Sipe http://www.richardsipe.com/about_richard.html
The basic problem of sexual abuse by members of the clergy has long been identified by people such as Dr. Richard Sipe and others as endemic and systemic to the institution.  Until the Church is ready to address this issue it will not go away and only worsen.

God Bless Archbishop Gomez for having the backbone to take this needed task. Many of us have waited years for this type of action to be taken. Please pray for the Archbishop and all victims of the in action of those here before his arrival

Trebert:  I believe the John Jay study.  If it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, chances are it’s a duck.  The VAST majority of sex abuse in the Catholic Church is committed by homosexual men.  I refuse to call them priests.  They should be purged from the church.  The one thing that I get tired of are Catholic priests in general being labeled as sexual predators.  The vast majority of Catholic priests are God-fearing men trying to leave their faith and tend their flock.  Richard Sipe is a left-wing radical.  Anything he has said should not be believed. There’s a reason he’s no longer a monk.

http://southernorderspage.blogspot.com/2011/03/this-is-richard-sipe-i-knew-flakey.html

Gomez is in serious trouble.  He had this information for the past year and at no time found it troubling enough to sit down Mahoney.  All of a sudden the diocese is out of options and has to release the information, so then Gomez comes out with his punishment and condemnation.  If the diocese had been successful in keeping the information quiet,  Gomez would have never punished Mahoney.  Gomez signed on with the comspiracy a long time ago.  If Gomez was really sincere he would have punished Mahoney a year and a half ago when he took over, not when he was out of options.

I remember reading when the homosexual scandal got so they couldn’t hide it any longer. At some point in almost all the reported stories, the Bishop of the diocese would complain that everything had been done to “cure” the perpetrator; “after all, the priest was cleared by a psychiatrist.” They put their faith in psychiatry!!!!! Can you believe the poor judgment of these Church leaders? Common sense would tell you that this activity by these homosexual men would not be given up. It’s an obsession. It’s a SIN! They would rather SIN than reform or leave the priesthood. To this day bishops still don’t acknowledge that it is a homosexual priest scandal. If it quacks like a duck,... Does anyone still wonder why so many people have lost faith in the Church leadership?

Schultz says, ” ....less than 1% of the Catholic Priesthood was guilty of abusing children. “

Maybe so, but so what? That one-percent is merely the tip of the iceberg. Consider:

1. That one-percent represents only the priests that got caught sexually abusing minors.

2. Many homosexual priests were at least smart enough to restrict their perverted behavior to those over the age, and hence neither the media nor the judicial system was interested in them. But these priests are still sickos; they are still functioning as priests in the Church; and they are still undermining Church teachings from their position.

3. And finally, a huge percent of Catholic priests had to know what was going on but they remained silent. Those few that had the courage to speak up were probably purged from the priesthood or censored by the bishops—the successors of the apostles.

The Catholic Church does not have a priest sexual abuse scandal, it has a homosexual priest sexual abuse scandal.  The John Jay Report which was ordered by the USCCB said 81% of the victims were boys.  In otherwords boys that were sexually abused by homosexual priests.  The USCCB is well aware of the findings of the report.  The problem is the media refuses to discuss homosexual abuse cases in any form because the liberal media has a love affair with the homosexual community.  The media though loves to inform the world of all thes abuse cases in the Catholic Church, which is there way for trying to destroy the Church.  The NEVER SAY that the vast majority of the offenders are their buddies in the homosexual community.  You want to stop the majority of sex abuse in the Catholic Church, quit ordaining homosexuals.  Pretty simple.

Charles Porter, with all due respect, you are wrong.  These are sexual predators.

I have been in disagreemnt with Cardinal Mahony for years. But this step taken by Archbishop Gomez perhaps was a rash decision. When the sex abuse scandal broke out it was something new to the Church. Many Prelates did not know what to make of it, nor did they have any experience in dealing with such matters. Sure now that we look back we see many mistakes were made, but can we now judge and condemn the mistakes? When the scandal broke out the Church was in a position it had never been in before, that should be taken into consideration when making judgements. The sex abuse scandal is still being studied by the Church and steps being decided on, this will be a long process. Mistakes were made, but that is what they were, Mistakes. They were not deliberate wrong actions by Prelates who had no experience with dealing with such a grave evil.

Angelo, the Kool-Aid drinker, writes, “but can we now judge and condemn the mistakes?”

Easy, because any normal, well-adjusted man would have been revolted if people under him were sexually abusing underage boys.

The first thing a normal man would have done is to reach for the phone and call in the civil authorities on the perverts. I would have. That this did not happen says mountains about how pathetic the leadership was (and still is) in the Catholic Church.

Excuse makers like Angelo can’t turn a sow’s ear (Church leadership) into a silk purse (genuine and God-fearing leadership).

Kenny, Where were you when the sex abuse scandal broke out. You having all the answers should have come out and directed the Church on exactly what to do, and you did nothing. Well here’s good news for you, Rome is still trying to figure out exactly what do about the scandal, they don’t have all the answers yet. This is where you come in, get to Rome and resolve all the issues. Put up or drink your Kool-Aid.

@Angelo - Kenny is correct.  A well adjusted, mature male would be violently incensed at the mere thought that someone was a abusing a child - let alone a priest abusing a child.  There is absolutely NO excuse for letting them off.  Get them help, sure.  Let them do time for their crime, absolution included for those that repent.  When their time is done, let them serve out their life in prayer, penance, and contemplation in a monestary somewhere.  But whatever you do, keep them away from children.

The fact of the matter is this - there have been bad people doing bad things and have been in positions of power, acting as gate-keepers for quite some time.  There is no amount of humiliation, pain, etc. that Mahoney is going to feel that will come anywhere near what a single child has had to and will have to deal with, for the rest of their lives.  He’s a big boy.  He can handle his penance.  I, for one, do not feel an ounce of pity for him.

God Bless

Angelo says:

1. “You [Kenny] having all the answers should have come out and directed the Church on exactly what to do, .. ”

Exactly right. But unfortunately I have no position or power in the institutional Church, hence the direction that I would have given—which is the direction most any God-fearing, normal man would have also given—was not followed. Instead the bishops and their sycophants came out with cover-ups, rationalizations, excuses, faux-apologies, and even outright lies.

2. ” ... and you [Kenny] did nothing.”

And you know that, how? Was I remiss, Angelo, in not make some citizen on those who aided & abetted the sexual assault of little boys?

3. “Well here’s good news for you, Rome is still trying to figure out exactly what do about the scandal”

That’s NOT good news. It shows that the Church hierarchy is still clueless about a basic issue of right-and-wrong and what real leadership means.

The real world appears to be too much for you to handle, Angelo. Go back and sip more Kool-Aid; it will help you to sustain you illusions.

So, Why does Cardinal Mahony get a ticket to Rome to vote in the next bishop?  If you let the CEO go, there are no more rights for him with that company.  If you fire or lay off an employee, they do not get benefits.  As a catholic, I think that ticket to Rome should be forfeited.

Tommy, I never said that what those evil priests done was OK. My point was clear, lets not start blaming the Prelates of the Church for inaction. Lets not start with, he should have done this or that. Lets not start acting as if we knew what had to be done all along. When the scandal broke out the Prelates of the Church were caught by surprise. They did not have the knowledge of what to do. They gradualy did the best they could. The answer to all the questions are still being studied. We all have been in a situation that has come as a surprise to us. Many, many times we did’nt know what we should have done until it was too late, and after having made wrong decisions. According to your reasoning we ought to be condemned harshly for making errors. You yourself in your post have made a grave error for which you should be held accountable for. Perhaps you should be locked up in a Monastery as a punishment. The mistake I speak of is your suggestion that those abusive priests should be placed in a Monastery. MONESTARIES ARE FOR STRONG HEALTHY MEN, and not for weak abnormal men. You insult those Men in Monestaries who are there as great men and not a bunch of sick perverted rejects.

Kenny, If you have no position or power, then should’nt you remain silent. Instead you go into a frenzy of fault finding, pointing fingers and renting your garments cyclone. You speak as if you know it all. Maybe you do, if so, then put your talents into action. And stop burying your head in the sand. As for Rome continueing to study this matter, the good news of which I wrote, is the good news that you can still go to Rome and fix it all. After all you have all the answers. What are you putting in your Kool-Aid? You might want to not make it so strong, it makes you lose your levelheadedness.

Linda asks why does Cardinal Mahoney get a ticket to Rome to vote in the next pope?

That is a legitimate question, the answer to which is disturbing.

It is because the institutional Catholic Church is so corrupt that it is beyond reform. It seems that the institutional Church will have to be reduced to a remnant, and only that remnant will have true value.

Kenny, You say, “the institutional Catholic Church is so corrupt that it is beyond reform”. This is Christ’s Church and it can certainly be reformed. The corruption in the Church started after Vatican Council ll, not because of the Council, but because many in the Church turned into madmen. Far too many created their own Council, an imaginary Council. They decided that what the Council said did not go far enough, so in the name of the Council they created a Council that suited their own whims and fancies, forcing it on Catholics against our wills. They caused mass confusion and good Catholics ended up blaming V2 for the whole mess. Their liberal rebellion caused grave damage to the faith of Catholics and after 45 years of the Councils end, they still will not apoligize to the Church and to Catholics. They remain in their stubborn attitude that they are still doing a perfect job. As far as Cardinal Mahony being an elector in the next Conclave, whats wrong with that? He is a Cardinal and is within the age limit to participate in the Conclave. Why deny him his right to do so? I myself would prefer that only Traditional minded Cardinals be the electors. But it is not right for me to make that demand nor even suggest it.

“As far as Cardinal Mahony being an elector in the next Conclave, whats wrong withthat? He is a Cardinal and is within the age limit to participate in the Conclave. Why deny him his right to do so? “

So, regardless of how corrupt the man is, because he meets the technical requirements to vote on the new pope, you’re okay with that. Interesting morality.

In a sane world Mahony would be doing a nice stretch of state time in California for being an accessory after-the-fact to the rape of children, thus making him enable to travel to Rome ....or anywhere else for that matter.

Oh, and another beaut hiding out in the Vatican, living seemingly a soft & cushy life, is the notorious Cardinal Law of Boston. Remember him?

Cardinal Mahony was RELIEVED of his duties.  That statement in itself would not make him elegible to vote.  He is NO LONGER a cardinal.  Or is that a title you cannot take away in our church?  Remember THE CHURCH is us.  The people in it.  We may not be able to vote for the next Pope, but we sure can put our point across that this should not be happening.  JMHO

Yes, I remember Cardinal Law. He said a Pontifical Latin High Mass at his Basilica of Santa Maria Magggiore. For the Holy Father to give him such a high position, perhaps we are the ones that are in such error as to be condemned. Kenny you are to be held accountable, for not coming forth at the time of the breakout of the sex abuse scandal. You having all the answers refused to go immedietly to Rome and tell the Pope and the whole Curia what had to be done. Where were you when this scandal broke out? I would like to know! This abuse scandal is still being figured out in Rome, go and tell them exactly what to do! In your own terms, put up, or drink your kool-aid.

But Angelo, pray tell, how do you know that I didn’t go to Rome—actually the Vatican—and was refused an audience with the pope?

The fact of the matter is that my hands are completely clean with respect to the despicable clerical homosexual scandals that have been rocking the Catholic Church both here and in Europe which is more than just about any in the Catholic hierarchy can say.

That the Church hierarchy is still trying to figure out what to do about its homosexual scandals—both those in the past and those pending in the future - shows that this current crop of ‘shepherds’ are clueless and in and fog.

As for you, if you can’t stop your asinine postings, at least try to instill some rational thinking in them. As it is, you sound like a 4th grader addicted to the Kool-aid of delusions.

Kenny, Congratulations, you know next to nothing about the sex abuse scandal except that it happened. As far as the Hierarchy being clueless about this nightmare in the Church, that is true, but they are now learning through experience. One thing the Church went back to, was the document signed in 1961 by Bl. John XXlll stating that no man with deep seated homosexual tendencies could be ordained. After Vatican ll the modernists in the Church dismissed everything and anything said by the Church before V2. Calling it the “spirit of Vatican ll”, a mentality harshly condemned by Bl. John Paul ll. Many seminarians warned Church authorities that Seminaries were infested with homosexual filth. These Seminarians were ignored by some authorities but at least Rome took them seriously. In the 1980’s Bl. John Paul ll ordered an investigation of US Seminaries. These modern seminaries put their act together for a while, until the investigation was over and they passed with flying colors. Then it was back to business as usual. ect… My point is that in this scandal there is more than meets the eye. We cant go around sipping kool-aid pointing fingers and hurling condemnations unless we really know what is happening. I was never a fan of Cardinal Mahoney and many of us were hoping against hope that the Pope would take him out of office. But I do not like the way he has been taken out of office, it was a humiliation for a Man who tried his best to address an issue that the Church had never dealt with in such a large scale. All other Church authorities like Card. Mahoney were in the same situation. Will they all meet the same treatment as Mahoney. The reason I previously wanted Mahoney taken out of office was because of all the heresies he alowed in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, especially through the yearly Cathecitical Anaheim Convention. If a man is to be corrected it should be for the right reason. Kenney, I will give you some very important advice that a priest gave me years ago, “Do not pretend to know what you do not know!”.

There’s no pretending here on my part. Essentially the entire Church hierarchy was complicit either by their errors of commission or omission in the homosexual scandal of the Catholic clergy.

There’s not enough white wash in the world to cover up their failure—a failure that any normal, well-adjusted man would have avoided just by virtue of being normal and well-adjusted.

So Angelo, you keep drinking your Kool-aid of delusion and keep pretending everything is honky-dory in the Church and mommy will come and tuck you in for a good night’s sleep.

And by the way, if the disgraced Mahony dares go to the Vatican to vote on the new pope, this will be yet another scandal that the secular press will hit the Church over the head with—and rightfully so.

Kenny, It is so easy to sit back drinking the sauce and pretending that we know it all and pretending that we have no faults. I have found that among the most loathsome people are the constant fault finders. Christ said to them, “You accuse others of sins that you youself are commiting”. I wonder if there is enough white wash to cover your crimes and mine. St. John the Evangelist has this to say to you and I, “Every man is a sinner. He who says he is not a sinner is a lier. He lies to himself and to God”. How does it feel to be directly accused of your sinful life? I am now really enjoying my kool-aid! “Judge not and you shall not be judged”, “As you measure so will you be measured”, “Judge what is in no mans heart, for only God knows what is in a mans heart”. Continue to enjoy finding fault in others but blind to your own.

Angie baby, the Kool-aid you’ve been drinking seems to have addled your thought process.

For your edification, those who hold positions of power have the responsibility to act right. It is they who bear greatest burden, not me or any other Catholic in the pew.

The entire Catholic Church hierarchy, including the last two popes, have been MIA, if not complicit, in homosexuals running amok in the clergy.

I myself am a sinner, but I am totally innocent of the despicable & sinful behavior shown by the Church leadership in the homosexual sexual scandals as are the huge majority of my fellow regular Catholics.

And to show your ignorance in your posting, I ask you: What faults of mine do you think I’m blind to?

So grow up Sweetie and face those facts as uncomfortable as it may be for you to do.

Kenney Loo, Its a whole different story when you are the one who stands accused, is’nt it? Have you heard the latest, the Holy Father was being sort of “blackmailed” by evil men in the Vatican, and a homosexual group lobbied to force the Church to make decisions. Now I believe the Pope’s Butler was telling the truth about revealing those documents for the purpose of letting the world know that evil Catholics were a main major scandal in the Vatican. What he done explains alot of things. But you carrying your kool-aid pitcher, knowing it all, you had to have known all about this. Instead of pointing fingers right now, why don’t you just give an answer to these problems and decide exactly what the Church must do. Don’t wait 5 years from now to give your expertize on what exactly has to be done. Fix all the problems now, Lotus Flower, and I’ll believe you!
