Catholics in New Media: Spirit Juice

Friday, May 28, 2010 1:00 PM Comments (10)

Spirit Juice Studios. They rock. Ever since I first saw their work I’ve been impressed. And they truly “get it” when it comes to using new media in the New Evangelization.

A bit about them from their website:

Spirit Juice Studios is a multi-disciplinary design studio comprised of individuals working mainly in the fields of web, print, motion design, and audio production. Based on the same idea of contemporary design for sorely-lacking Catholic entities, the studio was founded by Rob Kaczmark and Bernie Czerwinski in the summer of 2007.”

It’s refreshing to find more and more media companies in the Catholic world doing truly professional work. As Catholics, we have the best subject material - hands down. We have the Truth in full with a long, rich history filled with living examples of it. And I’ve long looked forward to when we would really start applying the impressive advances in multi-media production to the presentation of that Truth. The potential is huge. And it is going to have very significant implications as we continue to take the faith out into a desperate, and often hostile, world. We’ve had a slow start…but it’s beginning. And companies like Spirit Juice Studios are helping lead the way.

While they also do web/graphic design, event production, hosting/domain management and audio production, most of what I’ve seen from them is their video production. And they have some impressive clients, too, including CatholicVote.org, The Stoning of Soraya M, Catholic Heart Work Camp and L’Angelus.

Whether it’s a whole film, just a trailer, a promo video, a music video or anything else, you can be sure you’re gonna get something cool from Spirit Juice Studios. Here are a few samples of their work (below).

Wow, stunning, inspirational, and, I think, a glimpse of a very bright future for the Church.

Thank you so much for sharing this.  Your words are much too kind.

It’s inspiring to know that Catholics can have great media for a truly outstanding faith!

Wow. Took a look at their website and I like how it’s geared towards the Catholic youth. The video production is amazing! I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a Catholic video of such high-quality! Thanks for this post Matt.

Such a great article! Thanks for sharing this!

It is truly refreshing to me as a Catholic the way the “Message” is being
delivered by Spirit Juice.  Quality, inspirational and clearly understandable,  Fantastic!

I love it. Can’t wait to see this catholic business grow into my country, Trinidad & Tobago. I love your work!

Encouraging comments:  Wow!  These have great production quality.  This is what we need for the future of Catholic media communications.  I’m definately showing these to my son who attends “Doc School” at a local TV station to learn the art of making documentaries with other high schoolers.  He’s also hoping to go to JPCatholic to learn film making. Thanks for sharing these! :D

Contributing sole dissenter comments:  Well, I have to admit that I don’t think the “culture” portrayed in the first video is what one would call “beautiful and true”.  The sensual, rebellious, rap-music-rock-concert-culture (and the paraphernalia that goes with it) is kind of mega churchish pandering at best, and fitting in with the world at worst. We are called to be the leven and inspire the culture to a higher standard. I know we need to reach the youth, but I think we sometimes overcompensate, and the “Jesus Rocks!” message only adds to the irreverance.  I think the youth are thirsty for something different than what the world has to offer—something requiring purity, reverance and discipline.  I think that’s why the more traditional orders are full of new vocations.  I think we underestimate our youth.

Keep it slick, but keep it reverent. :D

Awesome! This is some of the best “spirit juice” since the stuff we used to mix up in the bathtub of the TKE house!

Great article about an excellent company.  As a youth involved in Catholic music ministry, I first had the privilege to team with Spirit Juice Studios five years ago.  Since then they have continued to develop their ministry into an even more amazing outreach.  I love their slogan, “Putting the juice back in Catholicism.”  Keep up the awesome work, Spirit Juice, and thank you for this post, Mr. Warner!
