Pamela Anderson Playing the Virgin Mary Says It All

Pamela Anderson, the silicon enhanced sex tape star and Playboy centerfold, will be playing the Virgin Mary in a sketch comedy show that will appear on the Comedy Network and in Canada.

Anderson will play the mother of Jesus opposite comedian Russell Peter Joseph in a mock manger scene in a comedy sketch Christmas special. CTV described the special as Peters’ “irreverent twist” on the Christmas special.

But I have to wonder—what’s the twist? There’s no twist to irreverence anymore. It’s been done and overdone.

Irreverence is so commonplace that it’s now the norm.

Honestly, how is it an “irreverent twist” when nobody’s making reverent Christmas specials anymore? You want to shock us, show a little reverence.

But I fear that too many of us have forgotten how to feel or show reverence. It’s not so much that we’ve forgotten how to worship, it’s just that we’re worshiping all the wrong things. So taken are we with our own hip detachment and sophistication, we’ve become an entire generation that doesn’t smile. We smirk. There’s a difference.

Ours is a culture of cynicism, chasing the ever-elusive cool. Everything must have an ironic twist to it or else it’s seen as too open and honest and must immediately be mocked by eye rolls, smirks and sneers.

We’ve become a culture of too-cool posers sprawled out in the bleachers, our lids half open to show how little we care. We worship irony and feign detachment while our souls cry out secretly to be anything but detached. We yearn for our lids to be opened in amazement. We want nothing more than to stop posing and kneel in reverence, but we’re afraid to show it. We’re afraid to build for fear of our creation being mocked.

I believe civilizations go through periods of construction and deconstruction. We’ve so completely deconstructed everything that nothing but the bleachers are left standing. I think it’s time to rebuild. To heck with cool.

Let’s stop rolling our eyes and look up to Heaven. Let’s not be cynical and maybe believe the best in people even when experience says different. Let’s not be sarcastic, let’s try honest. Don’t smirk, just smile. And let’s try a little reverence.

Let’s get out of the bleachers and onto our knees.

Well said.  At the risk of looking uncool, I think we need to deconstruct the value that our culture has put to that word.  Its become a false morality, a replacement for an ethics rooted in reality, in the existence of right and wrong.  In a way, its the perfect word to convey the relativism of secular culture.  Of course, its part of the cultural revolution and the revolution’s many ways of convincing people about a lifestyle change without appealing to reason.

We need to show some guts, stand up and bear the mockery.  All too often I am tempted to back down in the face of mockery of my view.  Such pride may very well be our biggest problem these days.

Pamel Anderson is reaching out and in playing the Blessed Virgin comes so much closer to Our Lady. Ms. Anderson must contemplate the existence of the Blessed Virgin Mary, even to mock, and in doing so has irrevocably marked her soul. Now, she knows she has one. Happy Thanksgiving.
Oh, and wait until these people realize that true FREEDOM lies within an innocent soul.

I don’t understand when there are so many “images” of Mary that you bow down to everyday.  You have no clue who these “images” favor and yet you bow down to them.

A very thought-provoking article Matthew, it sent me thinking in a direction I did not expect. The last two paragraphs are well worth reading again. And again.

The last line was great! Thanks for the Monday morning perspective.

This is just the usual.  Christmas and Easter are the most important times to express hatred of Christ and Christians.  That’s what “tolerance” means.

In short, we have become a society of teenagers in perpetual angst.  (Not to insult mature teens, to be sure…)  But we have sacrificed growing up in favor of perpetuating adolescence; being joy-filled in favor of looking cool.  Reminds me of junior high…

Anderson is just a no-talent, aging ex-bombshell who is using the tried and true method of attracting attention to a career nobody cares about anymore: insult Catholics.  Yawn.

As far at the other point.  When my daughter was a pre-teen I gave her this little exercise.  Whenever you see or hear the word “cool,” replay it in your mind and substitute “cool” with the word “stupid,” and more often than not you’ll gain a more clear perception of what is being discussed.

She’s now 20 years old and still reminds me of that one.

ceecee See we do not bow down to statues or images. We honour what they represent, Mary is given hyperdulia, a special kind of worship in Greek, LATRIA is the word for the absolute worship of God. English has but the one word which is attributed to shoes and is equivalent to adore as well.  We pray that the Holy Spirit will touch Pamela in this play, despite her motives.

The Holy Spirit is in charge. We can work with Him and pray that Pamela Anderson gets the grace to believe in the Christ Child. I am fairly sure she has never been reverenced as a Daughter of the King and His Mother made in the image and likeness of God. The leering, the jokes and the fantasies about her breasts over the years have been obscene and demeaning. CEECEE As to bowing down to images of the Virgin Mother of Jesus the Christ we have three words in Greek for the one English word worship. LATRIA is the word used for GOD; Hyperdulia is for MARY, a higher form of latria as it says, which is for saints and angels in heaven. We only worship and adore God even though we use those words loosely for shos, clothes and screen stars.

Not a fan of the so-called comedy network as the very little I’ve seen could hardly be called comedy (almost like calling Obama:president); but one has to shudder to think of just what they will be doing. Just because someone is part of a religious program doesn’t give any guarantees that the people will be touched: for example; look at Mel Gibson: he gave us such a wonderful (minus the hollywood nonsense) movie about the Passion of Jesus & where is he now? Not very pretty for his soul if he doesn’t repent soon. God WILL NOT BE MOCKED & when we make mockery of His Daughter & St. Joseph: well, to put it bluntly: THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!  Let all of us pray very hard for all of those involved that the Holy Spirit will touch each & every one of their hearts & that they will respond to His calling.  +JMJ+

JMJ Last I checked JESUS is the Goat-Sheep Judge and does not delegate that here, Mr Obama was elected as POTUS by the vote count, so has the people’s delegated authority from GOD to govern. I totally disagree with his sexual social agenda and am not sure of the health care plan’s full implications. However I do pray for him and his family, Cabinet and Congress all of whom need vision, courage and willingness to compromise to serve the Republic. I prefer to light the old candle and not curse the darkness. I pray Pamela makes it to heaven but my health at this stage cannot boost her over the Pearly Gates!

@HermitTalker: Your take on worship: Latria for God alone, Hyperdulia for the Blessed Virgin Mary as God would have it, and Dulia for saints and angels is correct and very welcome. An oversight in your work important to CeeCee: “LATRIA is the word used for GOD; Hyperdulia is for MARY, a higher form of latria as it says, which is for saints and angels in heaven. We only worship and adore God even though we use those words loosely for shos, clothes and screen stars.”
It is important that you know, understand and hand down the knowledge you are given to possess, which is a gift from God. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving

@HermitTalker: “Mr Obama was elected as POTUS by the vote count, so has the people’s delegated authority from GOD to govern.”
A prize fighter who throws the fight cannot be considered a legitimate contender. Obama, like Pelosi, says one thing and means another, bait and switch. Obama seized power with promises of bettering the general welfare but has implemented his own agenda, denying our Creator, denying unalienable rights, and human rights using every opportunity to increase his unauthorized and illegitimate agenda. A person who denies our founding principles in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal and endowed with sovereign personhood through the sovereign Person of God; a sovereign personhood of the newly begotten immortal soul who constitutes our nation from the first moment of his existence; anyone who denies these principles denies his own personhood, his own citizenship, (for he does not constitute our nation without his sovereign, endowed personhood)and he commits treason and sedition against our nation. This denial of unalienable rights to another human being causes forfeture of unalienable rights and citizenship. So, in denying the unborn an unalienable right to LIFE, Obama has made of himself an exile, stripped himself of citizenship and any public office he may have been appointed to, and considering that Obama took his oath of office on a Bible, he made of himself a LIAR. Obama long ago removed himself from the office of POTUS if he ever had it.

Dear Sir/Madame

To the horror of Canada’s 12,000,000 Catholics the CTV has chosen to air on Dec. 1st, 2011, “A Russell Peter’s Christmas Special.”

In the program the Virgin Mary will be played by Pamela Anderson, a porn actress who appeared in various sex tapes with famous rock stars.

As a member of the Roman Catholic Church and a citizen of Canada I implore the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and telecommunications Canada) and the CBSC (Canadian Broadcasters Standards Council) to ban the airing of the upcoming program in Canada.
Allow me to point out two recent cases where the CBSC intervened recently which clearly set precedent for such a ban.
In January, 2011, the CBSC banned the song Money for Nothing by Dire Straights as it was too offensive for Canadian audiences because it contained the word “faggot”. In the context of the song it is not really used in a derogatory way, nor is the word clearly audible, however CSBC felt a ban was in order after receiving only one complaint from a listener in St. John’s Newfoundland.

In December, 2010, The CBSC banned the Canadian evangelical minister Charles McVety after an industry watchdog ruled that statements he had made about homosexuals violated its broadcasting codes.

Is it not offensive to a Catholic to see the revered mother of Jesus portrayed by a porn star.  Would not Jews be equally offended if Pamela Anderson were to make an “irreverent” film about Auschwitz? Or would African Americans not be offended by an “irreverent” film about Rosa Parks.

The following is from section 8 of the Motion Picture Code of 1930 on religion.
1. No film or episode may throw ridicule on any religious faith.
2. Ministers of religion in their character as ministers of religion should not be used as comic characters or as villains.
3. Ceremonies of any definite religion should be carefully and respectfully handled.

The program that CTV plans to air this December 1st is hardly the type of program that would instill harmony in our multicultural society, rather it will foster religious hatred. If this is not an occasion were intervention is required I have to wonder what is.

I sincerely hope that the CRTC and the CSBC will take measures to ensure this program will not air on Canadian television.

Thank you,

Please send a complaint to the following. I will post my letter in another post in case you want to use mine…

Thank you Ms de Voe: I thought I wrote that in an added piece to CEE CEE above which you quoted back to me! Thank you Bill for the CBC address. Every note or letter counts.

That was not my point. I wrote what thought of his moral code. “W” stole the election also, thanks to the FL Sec of State, I lived there then, and the Supreme Court whose members admitted later in THE NINE book written by their clerks’ interviewers they had second thoughts. How many elections are free and fair. We humans do the best we can. I did not vote for “W” or for Obama. I saw the latter’s swing off the reservation with his mostly hidden secret way out leftist agenda because I studied, watched and listened. I got into lots of heated dscussions with friends who saw a new messiah.  I atill pray for them and our governments in Europe

1. Has anyone actually seen the scene where Anderson plays the Virgin Mary?
2. What right do we have to judge Anderson?  Let us take the logs from our own eyes.
3. Peters is Catholic.
4. Where is our Christian virtue of forgiveness for Anderson?

Ms Anderson deserves prayers and we cannot judge her soul. In fact we cannot even judge her body because some of it may be fake. We can follow St Augustine’s wise principle LOVE Pamela but HATE her sin and the CBC for violating their own code of not insulting any faith group. I wrote a letter to them but had to fill in 666 Babylon Street and other goofy data so the form could be sent.

i christopher boulos strongly disagree with the decision for the person chosen to play the role as the holy virgin mary, because of her inappropriate appearance

Just when I thought deconstructionism couldn’t be deconstructed down even further to depths a good mile or so below Hell’s creaky floorboards, along comes this Pamela “cinematic classique” portrayal of the “nativity.” The quote hooks are deliberate as well as my lower-casing the n. And since “irony” is supposed to be all part of the whole deconstructionist foolishness, the people who put this gobbler together must’ve deemed themselves terribly lacking in iron to the point they felt the need to bathe in the stuff.
Indeed they did. Here we have a porn princess portraying the Mother of God. Bad enough? Of course. Next we have the blonde Mary problem. Looks like they didn’t crack open many history text books about 20th century history to discover what happened to the two nations, er cultures that were most guilty of pushing the blonde Mary myth.
The Brits/Anglicans lost their empire because they actually believed this notion that God is an English gentleman, thus only a WASP mother would do. And of course, look at what all that bad stale beer of the blonde herrenvolk did for the Germans.
The best treatment for the clods who put this trash out is to ridicule the daylights out of it for a brief bit so it gets its due measure of public scorn but no more, then drop it where it belongs, in a giant greenish vat of chemicals designed to corrode anything. Just call your local DPW to see if they’ll let you drop anything related to this Anderson/faux “nativity” flic in their vats, first. After all, this film might be a lot more toxic than first imagined and who wants that kind of ripplin’ effect spread outwards in waves upon waves of further misery. Imagine what the effects would do to the brain matter of your fellow townsfolk in your local communities. How much deconstructionism can we actually handle before we begin to resemble, the UK, Holland, some parts of Northern Germany and ... well, there’s always ... France?

The Great Masters had no Middle East clothes or Semitic skin and features either. A professor once told us that since most Protestants do not properly honour Mary their Jesus is a very effiminate creature.

I wrote to the organisation and got a crazy reply that they could not do anything since I had not since I had not seen it yet.  “Censorship” she said.  I asked if they would villify Mohammed on Eid next year- then find an unbombed spot next day to discuss the film. I called her response “merde” French for you can guess

LOL HermitTalker! Your story demonstrates the damned if you do or don’t situation many people with a legit gripe against this kind of “alternative culture” trash. Even if we rely on the most authoritative news paper/electronic media outlets’ reports about these “experiences,” the very act of complaining and asking the producers of this swill to pull in the worst excesses or drop the offending nonsense altogether ... without the so-called “benefit” of having seen it, we risk the name-calling, tut-tut’n and rolled eye-brows of the hoity-toities who’ve circled their Volvos around the theaters showing it or art museums giving it space, and of course, the “censorship” put down.
“Oh no, we don’t want to look like the dour Puritans of 17th Century Salem, (MA)” so far too many of us retreat.
On the other hand, being sensible people with higher tastes and an equally strong desire to NEVER be caught alive or dead watching it in a “theater,” or at the much ballyhooed exhibition of fellow exhibitionists, we play it safe and pocket the money saved to be put to a better use: taking our kids out to a ball game…where then and there we can watch millionaire manchildren behave like little tots as they do their respective “victory dances” in an endzone somewhere.
On the upside of inadvertently exposing your kids to such live behavior, at least you can say right in front of ‘em, “IF YOU EVER ...”
That sentence will get you tossed out on your fanny from the temples of political correctness, not to mention getting an “invitation” from your local “human rights commission” for demonstrating the unmitigated gall to question in public the questionable taste and inner motivations of the purveyors of this questionable “art.”

Thank you. The play I recommended they write for EID the beginning of the Islamic New Year is baed on historic fact. MOHAMMED had intercourse with his child bride before her first menses which is against Islamic Law. I suggested that,  and asked them to meet in a quiet corner next day after those PEACEFUL RELIGION PEOPLE bombed their building to discuss whether they should have aired it! As a fiery Irish born Catholic I like to challenge idiots with sarcastic humoour.
