Christianity Re-Proposed, Not Re-Purposed
BOOK PICK: ‘As I Have Loved You: Rediscovering Our Salvation in Christ’
BOOK PICK: ‘As I Have Loved You: Rediscovering Our Salvation in Christ’
It is for all the fallen of the world that Jesus Christ hungers and thirsts, eager to deliver us all from a state of unending desolation.
At any moment the clouds could open wide, unleashing the judgment of the Lord upon us. Be vigilant.
If you were the only person in the whole world in the whole of human history whom God needed to redeem, he would have sent his only-begotten Son.
COMMENTARY: Jesus, the happiest person who ever lived, has promised to share his happiness forever with those who unite their sufferings to his cross
The Scriptures make it clear: Baptism is necessary for salvation for all those to whom the Gospel has been proclaimed and who have had the possibility of asking for this sacrament.
“Baptism is birth into the new life in Christ. In accordance with the Lord's will, it is necessary for salvation, as is the Church herself, which we enter by Baptism.” (CCC 1277)
John Calvin was wrong. As found in the Bible and taught by the Church, Christ died for all men.
“Since Christ died for all men, and since the ultimate vocation of man is in fact one, and divine, we ought to believe that the Holy Spirit in a manner known only to God offers to every man the possibility of being associated with this paschal mystery.” (Gaudium et Spes, 22)
