According to analysts, the continuing push to remove this phrasing from the Catechism of the Catholic Church is rooted in a broader campaign to legitimize homosexual acts.

Pope Francis’ Homosexuality Comments Heavily Edited in Documentary, No Vatican Comment on Civil Unions
While filmmaker Evgeny Afineevsky told journalists that Pope Francis made comments calling for the passage of civil union laws directly to him, the comments actually appear to come from a 2019 interview of Pope Francis conducted by Mexican journalist Valentina Alazraki.
The proposed text states, “Even same-sex couples and other couples who cannot give birth to a new life have the potential for a fertile life.”
For 2,000 years, the Church has not wavered in her teaching on the immorality of homosexual acts.
