"The life of the Holy Family was a life of true happiness. In order to have happiness in our Christian families we must practice the virtue of self-sacrifice.” — Father Emil Kapaun
When the story of human history comes to a close, death and violence don't get the final word. The love of God does.
A Rosary and vigil for Servant of God Father Emil Kapaun will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7pm Central Time, and a funeral Mass and procession will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 10:30am, Central.
Father Kapaun’s remains were returned to the United States as part of the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement, but they were not identified until March.
The 2021 walk was unique because the Wichita diocese is preparing to welcome the bodily remains of Fr. Kapaun.
Father Kapaun was a chaplain during the Second World War and became known for his service in the Korean War with the U.S. Army's Eighth Cavalry regiment.
COMMENTARY: The cause for canonization for the Servant of God, who died in a Korean prison camp 70 years ago, continues.
The remains of the Servant of God military chaplain were identified in Hawaii earlier this month. In his home diocese of Wichita and across the country, the discovery is celebrated.
With the news of the remains of Father Emil Kapaun now identified, this new book gives a glimpse into the life of this priest on the road to sainthood.
