During his time in Korea, Father Kapaun regularly celebrated Mass, at times on the battlefield using the hood of a jeep as a makeshift altar.

A Rosary and vigil for Servant of God Father Emil Kapaun will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7pm Central Time, and a funeral Mass and procession will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 10:30am, Central.
Father Kapaun’s remains were returned to the United States as part of the 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement, but they were not identified until March.
The 2021 walk was unique because the Wichita diocese is preparing to welcome the bodily remains of Fr. Kapaun.
