Think About This, Dr. Dawkins

The British Humanist Association wants to place ads on the side of London’s buses, questioning the existence of God.

The Daily Blog wouldn’t bother noting this except for the fact that anti-religion propagandist Richard Dawkins is using the occasion to repeat his tiresome claims that people of faith are all dummies.

Dawkins, the British evolutionary biologist who authored the 2006 book “The God Delusion,” told the BBC, “This campaign to put alternative slogans on London buses will make people think — and thinking is anathema to religion.”

Really, Dr. Dawkins?

Actually, as Father Raymond J. de Souza noted in a November 2006 National Post column, the prominent atheist should take a look in the mirror before he accuses others of being closed-minded.

“Dr. Dawkins is a rather religious man himself, except that his religion is materialist fundamentalism,” said Father de Souza. “Like all fundamentalists, he begins with his conclusion — only matter exists — and then rejects all arguments that might question it. So if you ask him what love is, or the idea of liberty, or why people cry at funerals, he would say that it can all be explained by the right combination of electrical impulses and cells in the brain.”

Commented Father de Souza, “It is a bleak view of the human person, which may explain why the church of the material fundamentalism has only preachers and no congregation.”
