One has to be filled with joy when you see some of the inspiring public demonstrations of faith taking place in Chicago, largely due to youth and leaders at St. John Cantius parish.
On Friday, August 12, a giant 75-foot floating rosary rose skyward above Chicago’s Michigan Avenue Bridge.
The rosary was the craft of 20 imaginative elementary-school-aged girls and their counselors participating in a summer camp at a Chicago Catholic parish. The girls prayed the Rosary in front of a Washington Avenue abortion business. They then carried the rosary, cross-first, through downtown Chicago’s peak traffic to the honks and cheers of onlookers.
A six-foot-gold cross hanging from the rosary sparkled in the sunlight as it ascended between the Tribune tower and the Wrigley building. The rosary of helium-filled yellow balloons bearing the word LIFE then floated down Michigan Avenue over the Hancock Tower.
“It was the prettiest rosary I have ever seen. I liked how it would float up and sit and then float up and sit. It looked pretty against the buildings and the sky,” said one participant.
The LIFE balloon Rosary was the latest in a series of public demonstrations, prayer vigils, and flash mobs utilizing the yellow balloons across the U.S.

Kind of hard to pray with, though! But seriously, what a fun idea those kids came up with.

get the priests and bishops out there too! do a public exorcism of the city, like what was done to Paris in the middle ages. The benefits are also enormous. congrats!
Would love to see a video of it.
There IS a lot of good out there. What a beautiful idea and sight to see. I’ll bet our lady was giggling with joy! Nice work young ladies and thank you!
Evangelization at its finest! This is a great idea and would love to borrow it for my Youth Group!
just remember - don’t let the balloons come down in the water…kills whales and turtles, seriously, be green about this.
Mortimer,
lol…not many whales in Lake Michigan! But your point is taken.
Keep the good deeds!
Glad to see some religion in this troubled country. We need more prayers, less terrible TV shows, movies and music..
What a Great idea to promote the Rosary. I’m sure Blessed Mother and all of Heaven loved the sight. Must get millions of people to pray the Rosary.
uma boa idéia…vamos espalhar pelo mundo!!
:)
Thanks ! How does one start a chain Rosary, any suggestions ?
Must keep in mind Blessed Mothers promise “One day through the Rosary and Scapular I will save the world”.
Awesome. My mission is to bring Christ to the world through devotion to Mother Mary. Love my Jesus who died for our sins.He is the only one who can save us.Praying the rosary everyday keeps us away from all evil and danger.Praise the Lord.
What an humble act of prayer by these little children. May God bless us all. Let us pray the Holy Rosary everyday and contemplate on the mystries of our faith through Mary our Mother. Amen.
A truly inspiring feat of peace and beauty proclaiming the joy of hope to anyone whose heart is pure enough to see. Why shed blood, when a simple act can bring such true pleasure and humility to all. Religion is what you make of it, if it is perceived and championed by evil it is evil, if it is by noble acts of non violence it is good and pure. These little women make me humbly proud to be a Catholic and prove the Holy Spirit is alive and expressive. We pray for the rest to understand the real meaning of religions… love all of Creation, repent and do not endorse murder of innocents for any purpose!!!
Nothing could be more up-lifting and inspiring than to see this powerful display of our Catholic faith. It is time we boldly witnessed our faith as our Lord keeps asking us to do so. Thank you young girls, youth and leaders for your example of holy boldness.
Yes! Finally - Catholics are speaking up!
This is so wonderful! it is so great to see young children are still following their faith. Today so many young people have forgotten our Lord and are afraid to display any signs of believing in Mary , Jesus and God. God bless these children of faith. May the Lord forever guide them .
This should make us realise the importance of the Rosary - atleast one decade to start with!
I have’t seen such thing in my life. Its the great mystery of the ROSARY. May the Almighty Bless each one of us and draw us closer to spread his devotion far and wide across the continent and globle and fulfil all their cherish dreams.
It is indeed gratifying to know that these young children are leading the way to a more meaningful life - in my opinion their action will do a tremendous amount of good to bring fallen away christians back into the faith. Mother Mary we place all our trust in you.
What a lovely thought by these young children. May Mother Mary, our loving Mother bless us all to spread her devotion worldwide. Let us honour Her by praying the Rosary everyday. This simple act of these children has gone a long way to proclaim our Faith. Thank you little children.
Prayer with creativity is that which the children will always remember. when we instill such values of praying a rosary together helps them to be united in love, fellowship and communion. in today’s world when family is breaking, communion is dividing into groups which do not respect the values of others this creative venture from the yong children is worth the publicity it has gained.
congrats and God bless

When God wants the World to Know what is not Right , He works in mysterious ways through Our Lady and through us all .
This is a sign . Lets make sure we understand it and heed to it.
God loves us all and created us all .Let Nature takes its course !
Through Mary to Jesus .

WOW! May God bless those wonderful children and their teachers! That is so cool!!! God keep blessing America!Living Life in the Love of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit!
A great ‘heartwarmer’in these times. Keep it up, our prayers are with you allkind35
God really works in mysterious ways. He let the children show the talents in creating the wonderful image (that’s the floating rosary) for everyone to see. Let us pray and offer our daily rosary for world peace.
Superb Idea! GOD BLESS! these youth. Would like to borrow this idea to fight growing evil in this tourist infested state. Please contact at vencydsilva@hotmail.com with contacts, details, videos and any info to encourage MARIAN devotees to STEP UP the ROSARY BRIGADE begining in this capital city.
Thanks, Angela, for sending your parents in their eighties the info about the incredible floating rosary. What a contrast to the Blessed Virgin Mary’s request to the poor Fatima children and Bernadette to pray the rosary every day. Their visions seemed incredible to others during their simple lives on earth. If that’s what it takes to inspire families to pray the rosary for peace today, “Let it be; let it be; let it be!” as Paul McCarney sang. Fr. Parick Peyton said, “The family that prays together stays together.”
This is a wonderful idea!!! I am sending this article to all my Catholic friends and acquaintances. What a wonderful and “uplifting” idea! I’m sending it also to my church. Maybe this idea can be done at sometime by the Catholics down here in Decatur, IL. I hope this will catch on in other places. One more way to fight this abortion problem.
This is awesome and faith-inspiring. It is a response to the question Jesus asked in Luke 18:8 “When the Son of Man comes, will he find any faith on earth?” Now, I can say, the son of man would find faith in Chicago and all those who where further inspired by the act of faith. I am sure too, he would find faith in great catholics like these. This I am sure, will one day checkmate the abortion pandemic.
This is so great. In fact I am going to try this in my parish in Nigeria with my fellow youth.
INDEED MARY IS PROUD OF HER TRUE AND FAITHFUL CHILDREN!WE ALL NEED TO EMULATE D ZEALOUSNESS AND PIOUSNESS OF THESE PERSONS.
I am Glad I saw this e-mail - The Rosary is a pure gift from Mama Mary to us all - The baloons is a good gesture and a reminder that we need to pray the Rosary. Thank you young ladies you have shown the world that faith and belief still exists.
IT’S SIMPLY THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. IT’S FAITH THAT BRINGS COMMUNITIES FROM DIFFERENT WALKS OF LIFE TOGETHER AND LASTLY THERE IS GOING TO BE ONE RELIGION AND THAT IS CHRISTIANITY AND CHRISTIANITY ALONE.
