Catholics in New Media: CNMC Kickoff

Saturday, August 07, 2010 2:42 AM Comments (25)

I’m here in Boston, MA for the 2010 Catholic New Media Conference. Tonight we had a totally awesome meet-n-greet at the Omni Parker Hotel to kick off the conference. I got to catch up with a lot of friends from last year’s conference and to meet a lot of new faces as well.

Naturally, I grabbed my dry erase board from off of our refrigerator at home - the one that usually contains the running grocery list - and forced people to write stuff on it while I snapped pictures of them.  See if you can pick out who any of these people are:

When I get time I will try and come back through and tag and notate each picture. In the meantime, leave some comments if you recognize anyone in the pictures!  I’m looking forward to the full day of CNMC conference activities tomorrow!

These are great… recognize most everybody!  I’ll be sure Deacon Tom sees them tomorrow!

Matthew -

What a brilliant and fun idea.  This is the epitome of what Catholic New Media can and should be about - the people, community, and joy in our faith.  Kudos, dude (and nice to finally meet you last night).

This looks like fun. I recognise Rob from spiritjuice studios and Ian from aquinas n more. A few others as well. Say hi for me and figure out a way to get us on the bill for 2011 (is it gonna clash with WYD?)

I loved looking at all of the photos and comments on your dry erase board.  Some of the comments were hilarious.  You could tell everyone was having a fun and meaningful time.

what a great idea, Matthew! looks like a ton of fun and even saw a friend from the March TOB course in your pics!

Hilarious, creative, so fun! Brings a sense of community to read what everyone wrote…I love it…wish I was there. Never heard of your organization, how sad for me! I’m in marketing in Minneapolis and trying to help clients grow in various ways including new media. Hope this gets me on a newsletter email or something. BTW, what kind of smart phone should I buy? Still debating!!! Did you take these shots w/an iphone??

Hey! Those are great pictures.

Excellent pics! Very cool!

that was so much fun to read

This is a great post - so creative! Really captures the fun atmosphere of the conference :)

Great way for those of us who couldn’t attend to “meet” everyone! Thanks!

Wow!  Such fun looking at the photos. Just goes to show the individual flavor of God in each person.  Makes me feel happy and loved.  God’s blessings on the conference.  Pat

THIS IS SO GREAT! LOVE THIS POST!

You rock! That was fun!

It was great meeting so many great folks dedicated to spreading the Gospel. Thanks Matt.

Great idea to do this Matthew, and happy to have been part of it. It’s a great ice breaker too - lol. Great to see you again and divine providence to run into you in Cambridge and have you ride with us to the airport. Blessings :)

Thanks, Matthew - Great seeing everyone again! | @ShannonSwenson

Matt, great post! It was so good to see you again this year. It was certainly a joy-filled celebration. Maybe we should organize a mid-year gathering for those of us who are Catholic New Media geeks. Not as involved. More like a relaxing “tweet-up.” Think about it and share some ideas. Again, a real treat to see you again. God bless!

You just made me increasingly more angry at myself for not attending! I should have been there! Glad it was a great conference. Hope to read more about it soon.

Dear Matthew, This was such a cool part of the meet and greet! Thank you for doing this. I just might have to borrow this idea. And I’m so glad that you are my friend….in real life too!

Wonderful. Thank you. I hope something like this will start in Ireland. Anyone wanna come to Eire?
I’m @anirishcatholic on Twitter.

I wish Greg Willits had been there.

So sweet of my girls to wish me a Happy Birthday; sorry I couldn’t join them again this year.

Good work—what a fun evening!

I love this idea. I would love to see it in more ways. How much fun can you have with Cathlics and a dry erase board.
