I’ve been saying recently that Pope Benedict XVI is heading into enemy territory in “Post-Christian” England. Sadly, I may be more right than I imagined.
A member of British Parliament says he fears violence at an open air mass with Pope Benedict XVI after an Islamic publication called Muslims to attend the Mass to convert Catholics and “tell the Pope in no uncertain terms what Muslims think of his evil slanders against the last Prophet of God and his message.”
I think it’s the “in no uncertain terms” that’s making some a little nervous. Oh, the same publication also called the Pope “evil.”
The Islamic Standard writes:
“A change of venue gives Birmingham Muslims a chance to tell the Pope just what they think of him after his insults against the Prophet Muhammad… As well as this chance to challenge these evil words of this evil Pope, over 80,000 Catholics from all over the UK are also expected to attend the open air ceremony….We hope Muslims can be there to meet him as well and to also call people away from the shirk of worshipping the dead like the Catholics do, calling out to them for help and intercession…The Birmingham event however brings the pope and who worship him into direct contact with the the large Muslim population of Birmingham and offers them the perfect chance to learn about Islam and for the Muslims to forbid the Munkar of worshipping dead men and following the dictates of the sodomite child molesting Church of Rome…
We at the Islamic Standard hope the Muslims of Birmingham take this duel opportunity to give Da’wah to these 80,000 travelling disbelievers, whilst at the same time telling the Pope in no uncertain terms what Muslims think of his evil slanders against the last Prophet of God and his message.
MP Khalid Mahmood fears that this call may be an incitement to violence. He’‘s quoted in British newspapers saying: “These supposed Muslims are doing all they can to incite violence. Sadly, if Muslims do turn up and preach at Catholics it could easily turn to violence…The police should look at the comments on this site because they can only serve to increase tensions and perhaps even cause riots on the day.”
This news is especially worrisome in that, according to YNET news,: eight residents of the northern city of Nazareth were arrested on weapons charges and discussing murdering Jews, soldiers, and the Pope.
Let’s hope and pray that all turns out well for Pope Benedict XVI in England.
Anyone else starting to think that “Post-Christian Europe” might actually mean “Anti-Christan Europe?”

Why are you so fearful? Yes, the UK is not the most Catholic place in the world- But neither was Rome! Rome- Orgies, Pagan worship, Child sex trade, prostitution, vomitoriums, persecution of Catholics, crucifixion, incest, Nero- remember? Now it is filled with churches and within its walls is our HOME! Vatican City and the Pope reside there. Regarding these ‘Muslims’; please don’t so easily believe the hate that the papers spread for profit and gain. Not all Muslims are terrorists. Many hate terrorism and the like. I know many Muslims who were horrified at 911 and the other terrorist attacks. The Koran says “…Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians—whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor shall they grieve” (2:62, 5:69, and many other verses). We agree that all people of all religions should see the person as important to God and loved by God. If God loves them, how then can we hate them?
Why should I fear a gaggle of ignorant, moronic fools (regardless of religion) who want to throw a tantrum about the Pope because they cant see ‘the log’ in their own eye? These ‘extremists’ are everywhere- in every religion, including ours. Jesus invites us to overcome such differences; what counts is the individual and when my neighbour needs me, I must forget his colour, gender, age, race or whatever human label has been given to him and love him like God would. Like Christ would.
They will know we are Christians by our love. It is from love that we draw our strength, not fear, hate, worry, etc.
On another note, the Swiss Guard will be accompanying him. They are well versed in these matters, I’m sure, and are very able and willing to protect and die for the Pope. They are good men and will do everything in their power to keep him safe. I had the pleasure of attending WYD08 in Sydney. I remember the ‘Sydney Atheist group’ protesting against the faith, screaming obscenities at us, accusing us of crimes, calling us brainwashed and spreading lies about our faith. I was filled with such a rage that I wanted to tear them apart. But I stopped and watched, waiting. The thousands on thousands of Catholics started chanting together “Benedicto” and “Viva Papa!”. I watched as their determination shattered like glass, as they tried to cry out against us. Soon, contrary to before, all I could hear was our song of thanks for the visit of the pope and not their ignorant slander. The picked up their things and left and my heart was happy again. I encourage the UK’s Catholics who attend, to draw their strength from their faith and the knowledge that while there may be only a few in the UK, there are millions of brothers and sisters who keep you in their prayers at this special time.
I will pray for the success and happiness of all those that attend and for the safety of the pope. We are truly fortunate that the Holy Spirit chose for us a Pope who is not afraid of his foes and is willing to go to ‘Enemy territory’. (Is not the entire world enemy territory for Catholics and the Pope?). I hope the Angels and Saints will look down and protect all those there at this special time.
I’m not half as worried about the muslims in England as I am about the English themselves. They’ve hated Catholics for centuries. That’s why I’ve been praying for this papal trip for months already. I know there are great Catholics in England (like Joanna Bogle!) & they really have my sympathy. But one thing that our Holy Father is not is a coward. God help him.

Maybe we Catholics should show up enmasse at Friday prayer services at the local mosque to tell Muslims what we think of the false “Prophet”. Meanwhile, it seems the Pope anticipates his own martyrdom. Recall his first consistory of Cardinals when he commented on the blood red color of the Cardinals’ robes, representing the pledge to she the last drop of blood for the Faith. Also recall the dream of Don Bosco—two councils, one Pope who falls wounded, a subsequent Pope who is killed.
I worry for the Pope. England is a highly secular state, and “tolerant” of Muslims. Both have expressed open hostility to our Pontiff. We should all pray that all will go well. It is highly possible that there’s a Mehmet Ali Agca plotting violence against BXVI.

If you follow the generally accepted beliefs that “Keder” and “Hazor” are present-day Saudi Arabia, Jeremiah 49:28-33 says that Saudi Arabia will be destroyed. The passage describes the total devastation of Saudi Arabia by war until the inhabitants are scattered and dispersed all over the world. Someone referred to a novena earlier and had a site for medjugorje. Im sorry but I as a Traditional Catholic cannot understand why so many “Catholics” are obsessed with Medjugorje. You have been forbidden to go there on pilgramige. Yet you don’t listen. How bout you look at a true apparition such as Fatima. The most important vision of our times. “Medjeugorje” vision states that all religions are equal under God and that it doesn’t matter what religion you are. How can that be a true appartition. Only the devil would say something like that. Plus you only have to look at the lives of the people who are supposedly having the apparitions to know it is false. I know someone who travelled there and they said the visionaries would go and smoke cigarettes after they had an apparition. Reminds me of the situation before David met Goliath. The latter was shouting all sorts of ridiculous hatred at God’s people and telling them ‘you will be our slaves’. However, God had a plan up his sleeve and it involved an anointed man of God. A short while later Goliath lay well and truly dead and the enemy was defeated. David went on to many victories.
Benedict XVI does not have David’s youth, but he does have a mighty anointing. He has millions of people praying for him. He has God on his side, Angels surrounding him, Saints praying for him.

@Carolyn I am not against freedom if religion. I feel the Pope is in great danger because of the enemies of the Church…particular the Muslims. Christains are called infidels, Christains residing or practicing faith under Muslim dominated regions are persecuted, killed, ethnically cleansed, raped, etc…we are not talking about centuries past events we talking recently. Muslims and enemies of Christainity do no believe in freedom of religion. When you approach a Muslim about these concerns…he does not ever condemn these atrocious actions rather he points out stanza of the Quran or he explains what the Muslims believes or he discusses ranges of interpretation: these are forms of mockery where one nevers acknowledges the transgression…thereby supporting and condoning it…it is a dangerous game of duplicity…and if all else fails he mocks christain pricinciple and civilized laws of not respecting freedom of religion if I or anyone else complain about the tyrant principles of islam that would support these abominations such as 9/11 and likes around the world…sadly, no one comments here has expressed an improbability…or that papal harm is far-fetching fairytale. Muslims embrace Jesus as God, Messiah, True Priest and True Prophet they will always be a source of scourged to life and humanity.

The queen and prince appear to have forgotten the old adage that mice and rats can eat you out of your house and home…and where ever they are present in numbers the plaque and death is certain to come…the Faith of England is critically low and the ousting of royalty is but a vote of Parliment…the greater punishment and embarassement would be it grave Papal harm would occur on its soil by everstanding enemy of England and Christendom except for Providential Intervention. Thank you for your contribution. Hopefully you will have an opportunity to also respond to the Islamic Standard. It seems that any time a name like Standard is used it refers to something different. The most obvious example was the communists in the Soviet Union who called themselves majority even though they were a minority in numbers. Is it a fair bet that the Islamic Standard leans more toward extremists than is standard in the faith?

On Sept. 25, 2009, there was an Islamic prayer rally held on the US Capitol grounds (“Islam on Capitol Hill”). There were supposed to be 50,000 Muslims from all over America, as well as Canada and Britain, showing up for Friday afternoon prayers. It was to demonstrate to America and the world the strength of Islam in America and the strong faith of its believers.
Less than 3,000 came.
I certainly hope 80,000 Catholics and other Christians show up to see the Pope. I certainly hope they are not scared off by the threats of Islamic violence (sorry—“Islamic strong defence of Islam”). I have thought, for some time, that the Pope is entering into a nasty situation when he goes to Britain. There are many who would harm him and even more who would ridicule him and the whole Catholic Church. The police there will have their time cut out suppressing those who wish him ill. The hate filled rant which you have quoted is merely one example of what the Pope is going into.

Your pope should not fear the Muslims of Birmingham. Of course, there will always be idiots wherever he goes. But nearly all Muslims here respect him because he stands up for what he believes is right by the one God. Of course there are differences between Muslim and Catholic and he has made that clear. Should it surprise us? But it is only when we know where we differ that we can begin to understand where we stand together. And there are many issues in the great city of Birmingham where Muslims and Catholics stand united. It is not Islam that threatens the Christians of England but the Godlessness of the secular agenda. It is not Muslims who attack the Catholic Church daily in British newspapers. It is not Muslims who try and dirty your Pope’s name.
We remember how the Catholic Church has stood up for the Muslim brothers and sisters in the Middle East. The Pope will be welcome in our city. He is our guest and we will not be shamed.

England, Scotland, and Wales to the Catholic Church with special focus on the Pope’s visit to beatify Newman this September. Like our Christian forebears who bravely entered the ancient arenas to face the lions, our holy father, Benedict XVI, enters into the modern “Lion’s” den to show, once again, that Christ’s true church will carry forth the Gospel message regardless of the dangers and call attention to those saints (ex. Cardinal Newman) whose lives are true, timeless, examples of Christian living for all people. The screams of indignation from those Muslims, pseudo-“c"hristians,and atheists that have arisen are perhaps what a darkened kitchen full of roaches might sound like when a person turns on a light and they all scatter in fear! The Light of the world seems to have that effect upon the darkened hearts of those who love their darkness. The good thing is that this Light will lead them to everlasting life in Heaven with the Savior who came for all mankind/personkind (for those of a PC bent); not too bad a deal for sinful people! Where is your faith? Christ will certainly protect His Vicar as he brings grace and blessings upon England. There is always talk of such things whenever and wherever the Holy Father appears among in these secular times. Perhaps such talkers want to make a name for themselves by feeding upon the Pope’s fame. Repeating such things only create divisions - something which Pope Benedict XVI himself does everything to avoid. He is in truth a true reconciler of peoples whatever their politics or beliefs. Theses are scare tactics, and I am surprised that a Catholic blogger would give them any space when there is so much more that need addressing. The Holy Father is as well protected as the Queen or the President of US; perhaps better. No nation on earth wants anything to happen to him while on their soil. If you still are nervous about it, pray to St. Michael the Archangel and St. Joseph, his namesake, who is also the Protector of the Church. Let’s not be battered by every wind as St. Paul would say, and lose of faith.
I think it is unfair to represent Anglicans as bigoted, anti-Catholic, etc. Now the MEDIA in the UK (I live in Ireland) is without a doubt violently anti-Catholic and contemptuous of the Holy Father. I have in mind the the BBC, the Times, and the Guardian in particular. The media is creating a very unpleasant atmosphere for the Holy Father’s visit. That there may be Muslims of ill-will wanting to make hay out of it is no surprise. Personally I do believe that there is an unspoken and almost palpable threat somwehere in the wings. If anyone out there has read the Holy Father’s comments on ‘martyrdom’ made at Fatima on 13 May or read Antonio Socci’s book “The Fourth Secret of Fatima” then there is every reason to be anxious for the Holy Father. What is really going on here??? We need to see the real deal. The veil is now being lifted and we can now see the wizard. Islam is only the tool, the vehicle, the manifestation of “Enmity” between the serpent and the Woman (see Genesis). We need to realize that this is a frontal attack by the enemy… the Devil. Those Catholics who travel to Bimingham for the beatification of Cardinal Newman by Pope Benedict will have many graces poured down upon them from Heaven. To be present at the beatification of a Saint to whom we can address our prayers for the sanctification of the faithful participants and also those who mock Pope Benedict - even as Jesus himself was mocked and scorned, are in good company. They are truly following in the footsteps of Christ himself. Nevertheless, we should pray the Novena for the Holy Father - for his safety and protection during his visit to England. As Christians were are to support our faith. This does not mean that we only support out of harms way. We should constantly tell others about the love of Christ and the blessing of our Holy Father. This is what the Pope is prepared to do on his trip. If the Muslims show up try to convert them. It is our duty
Someone please tell me, why this is not considered as hate speech, inciting violence, and dealt with accordingly? Remember the man arrested by the police for talking against homosexuality, how he was arrested on hate speech charges by the authorities for voicing his opinion on the matter? When will we recognize that the extremist Muslim world is allowed to have its own way because we are, in effect, reacting in fear to their terrorist ways? Are we a society that applies the law according to what the reaction to its implementation will be? If so, is this same society asking Catholics, and in essence all groups, to become terrorists in order to gain some sense of respect? At least the same ‘respect’ (treatment) Muslim extremists get?

I am Catholic and English and I understand the article refers to danger from Muslim based on statements by them, not danger from Anglicans. I do not think the Pope would agree with your comments. Here in England many Anglican priests are becoming Catholic Priests. You are right about the Fatima prophecy though, I however think that it is the next Pope this may happen too, the 111th Pope, Peter of Rome.
Let us believers wherever we are start offering up our fastings ( even the 3day regimes, like in Book of Esther ) , Divine Mercy Chaplets and Novenas, esp. to bring the nonbelievers , to immerse them in His mercy ..
Let us hope and plead that our Father , in the mighty Name of our Lord Jesus and through prayers of Mother Mariam ,all holy saints and angels, would take back all ground claimed by the enemy in hearts and lands of the papal visit , protect us all by The Precious Blood and have His mighty angels to war on and drive off all enemy infested and possessed persons and their possessions and the powers of evil to the foot of The Cross , to be dealt with by our Lord Jesus ,of life and Victory over the enemy so that His Holy Spirit would take dominion in all these lands and hearts !

Yes, the Pope is going into enemy territory in England. Those Anglicans are anything but Christian. They are just like the Episcopalians in the USA. It isn’t for nothing that paganism is growing in England and formerly “Lutheran” nations such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway etc. The Protestant “faith”, worthless from the beginning, is now so corrupted that only 2-3% of people go to Lutheran services in these countries, and less than 1% attend Anglican services in England. Catholic in England should feel happy that a pathetic 20% go to Mass on Sundays….but still far more than the Anglicans. Before Vatican II and the Novus Ordo , 80% of British Catholics went to Mass. Shows than something went wrong 40+ years ago.
Fortunatly for us, we have a saintly and good Pope in Benedict XVI, someone who will courageously uphold Catholic principles and foster particularly Catholic traditions( not just generically “Christian”....even in the face of enemies both inside and outside the Church. Such could not be said of his most recent predecessors. They were accomodators and ecumenists.. Benedict XVI isn’t. Which is good for the Church, but bad in the eyes of his enemies.
Which is why the Pope is headed into enemy territory in England.
Let us pray that he stay safe, and God protect him both physically, and strengthen him to continue on his noble path so different than recent Popes.
