Love the hat Jimmy.  Where did you grow up in Texas?  I’m from Arlington.  Always love to see Texans who become Catholic here in the Southern Baptist Bible Belt.  I grew up Southern Baptist but wanted to be Catholic since age 7.  My parents (dad died in ‘05) are Mormon.  Didn’t make it into the Church until ‘07 but am home now and loving it!!!  I’ve tried talking to my Mom but she is not interested.  She has survivied cancer but is weaker and spends her time helping my niece who lives with her.  I don’t think she attends her church anymore on Sunday’s but she does have people who visit her.  I pray for her, of course, but do not know what else to do.  She won’t read anything (not because she is against Catholics she just doesn’t have time to read anything anymore or I think the will).  Any suggetions?

I was born in Corpus Christi, but I grew up in Arkansas. If your mother doesn’t read much any more, perhaps she might listen to or watch something that you gave her. There are many CDs and DVDs at Catholic.com and Ignatius.com. Why don’t you take a look at those sites and see what you think she might respond well to? Hope this helps!

Thanks Jimmy. I’ll take a look.

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant pastor or seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith. Eventually, he was compelled in conscience to enter the Catholic Church, which he did in 1992. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to This Rock magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."
