40 Days for DEATH!

Members of the Clergy for Choice group

Lifesite News is reporting that a Planned Parenthood located in Humboldt County, California has begun a prayer campaign mocking the well-known 40 Days for Life campaign, which seeks to save children's lives from abortion.

The Planned Parenthood effort--named "40 Days of Prayer: Supporting Women Everywhere"--involves the efforts of local clergy who belong to "Clergy for Choice," which is "an official subcommittee of Six Rivers Planned Parenthood."

One element in the campaign is a flyer offering prayer intentions for the 40 day campaign. These intentions were authored by another organization named FaithAloud, whose website (faithaloud.org) bills it as "The Religious and Ethical Voice for Reproductive Justice" and says it works toward "Overcoming the Religious Stigma of Abortion and Sexuality." (Sexuality carries a stigma? Who knew?)

Among the intentions for the individual days are these:

Day 4: Today we give thanks for the doctors who
provide quality abortion care, and pray that they may
be kept safe.

Day 7: Today we pray for the 45 million American
women who have had safe, legal abortions. May they
stand tall and refuse shame.

Day 8: Today we pray for elected officials, that they
may always support a woman’s right to make her own
medical decisions.

Day 14: Today we pray for Christians everywhere
to embrace the loving model of Jesus in the way he
refused to shame women.

Day 18: Today we pray for all the staff at abortion
clinics around the nation. May they be daily
confirmed in the sacred care that they offer women.

Day 27: Today we give thanks for abortion providers
around the nation whose concern for women is the
driving force in their lives.

Day 34: Today we give thanks for abortion escorts
who guide women safely through the hostile gauntlets
of protesters.

Day 36: Today we pray for the families we’ve chosen.
May they know the blessing of choice.

Day 40: Today we give thanks and celebrate that
abortion is still safe and legal.

If that isn't enough Orwellian doublethink for you, consider the following statement from Clergy for Choice's web page:

We are religious leaders who value all human life.  We accept that religions differ about when life begins. We are here to help.

We believe that human life is holy. That's why we believe in your right to choose to be a parent or not.

It can be helpful to talk with friends you trust, with licensed counselors, and with whatever religious person you choose.  Humboldt County Clergy are available to talk with you about the spiritual aspects of choice.  Find out more by calling Six Rivers Planned Parenthood at (707) 442-2961.

Huh? "We believe that human life is holy. That's why we believe in your right to choose to be a parent or not"?

Back when I was a grad student in philosophy, I'd often analyze arguments for various positions by putting them in logical form and then analyzing the premises and the steps in the argument. It could sometimes take a bit of work to flesh out an author's arguments, but I must admit that I'm at a bit of a loss where to even start with this one. How do you get from

Premise: Human life is holy.

to

Conclusion: You have a right to abortion.

Obviously, you could patch the two with a step like:

Premise: If human life is holy then you have a right to abortion.

But why should anybody accept that as a premise? It would seem much easier to argue:

Premise: Human life is holy.
Premise: If something is holy then it should not be destroyed.
Conclusion: Therefore, human life should not be destroyed.
Premise: Abortion destroys human life.
Conclusion: Therefore, abortion should not be.

I've phrased this argument rather informally, and I'd frame it much more technically and precisely if I were writing a philosophy paper, but the general drift of the argument--how you get from here to there in a plausible fashion--is apparent. Indeed, pro-lifers have been using different ways of expressing this basic argument for forty years, and they've won a lot of people to their view using it.

But "Human life is holy, therefore you have a right to abort it" is just bizarre.

It's Orwellian doublethink along the lines of "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and similar slogans of the Ministry of Truth.

I can imagine ways that Clergy for Choice and their Planned Parenthood associates might try to bridge the gap in a more plausible manner, e.g., talking about a particular kind of holiness possessed by all human beings that, if you are a pregnant woman, entails a right to abortion, but that's peering too far into their minds. They need to at least gesture at what their reasoning is, and they don't.

Of course, the premise that Clergy for Choice starts with is a transparent attempt to co-opt the premise that pro-lifers have used so successfully for so many years, but the followthrough on this effort to commandeer the premise falls completely flat.

But then, trying to co-opt successful pro-life strategies seems to be a basic part of this Clergy for Choice methodology.

"Human life is holy, so you have a right to destroy it" is a Satanic parody of the true value of human life and its implications, just as its 40 days for death campaign is a Satanic parody of 40 Days for Life.

What do you think?

AGREED. It is disgusting, satanic blasphemy.

They have so internalized the lie that unborn does not equal human, that they can say with a straight face “Human life (ie born humans) is sacred. They don’t even realize how crazy they sound.

Spot on. Marc Barnes over at BadCatholic had a great treatment of this as well. My personal favorite was his whole Jesus not shaming women thing. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/badcatholic/2012/04/planned-parenthoods-40-days-of-prayer.html

I wish this was some sort of parody. It wouldn’t be funny, but at least it wouldn’t be real!

“Day 14: Today we pray for Christians everywhere
to embrace the loving model of Jesus in the way he
refused to shame women.”

Umm…the loving model of Jesus brought dead people back to life, not the opposite!

And we don’t shame the women, we pray for them, and the babies and the men.

As a recent convert to the Catholic faith, and one who is actively seeking to gain knowledge and truth concerning the faith, I am surprised that not enough people who call themselves Christians are educating themselves on the heinous acts that are going on. I am disgusted by Planned Parenthood, but even more so disappointed by those who support them AND talk as though they are firm believers in Christ. There is so much satanic speech out there hidden under the guise of goodness, like wolves in sheeps’ clothing, and we need to stand firm in our faith and our convictions to fight against this ignorance and arrogance that is so rampant in our country. We need to pray more and more for these people; they truly need God.

Jimmy, I am so fascinated with logical fallacies, and I love your analysis here. Thanks for breaking it down so everyone can see that this group’s argument is just plain wrong.

Also, I agree with the poster who commented that language nowadays has the appearance of love and charity, but it is truly evil. The “prayer intentions” posed by this group might look appealing to some, but they are just so false and backward.

We should pray for these people and for all who are influenced by this nonsense.

A question for everyone:
When did I begin?

A question for Christians:
When did the Incarnation begin?

Do I currently have a right not to be killed?
If so, when did that start?

As much as I love my mother, I do not believe that she now has, nor has she ever had the right to choose to terminate me.

In charity, trying to understand where they are coming from. I imagine that they started from ‘hard cases’ as an exception to the rule and then slid down the slope to allowing each adult to decide if their case was an exception. And then to the absolutist pro-choice position. All the while trying to hang on to their original values.

Perhaps along the way confusing judging the person and judging an action.

The absolutist pro-choice position has its inverse hard cases eg abortion for sex-selection against girls (probably the main reason in China and India) eg abortion up to the moments before and even during birth for any reason at all.

Jimmy, nice article about a nasty topic. Wow! See how the Devil twists peoples’ minds!
I think the missing logical premise that bridges the gap is that they don’t believe the child
Is a human life until it’s born, so abortion doesn’t destroy life in their twisted minds.
I’ve even heard some pro-aborts say it’s not human unless a baby is “wanted!” yikes!
How does THAT work! Is it instantaneously human once it’s wanted? What if they change
Their mind after a few days does it change back? What if only one person wants it and three
Don’t? Does majority rule? Logic is nowhere to be found in the pro-abort’s psyche, I’m afraid.

They don’t know when life begins? Perhaps the Bible will help. Elizabeth’s cry to Mary, “For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy.” Was there ever a point when the child in her womb was not John the Baptist?

What do I think? I think the prochoice crowd is using a Charles Manson-style reasoning: Thou shall love thy neighbor by killing thy neighbor. We all know the moral outcome his philosophy had on his followers.

I think the prochoice crowd is using a Charles Manson-style reasoning: Thou shall love thy neighbor by killing thy neighbor. We all know the moral outcome his philosophy had on his followers.

Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist and racist with the stated goal of culling the dark skinned population. And that’s just the information on articles supportive of her. But as evil as she was, even she didn’t believe in killing babies.  This is the new face of genocide.

Exactly who are they praying to during this “Forty Days of Prayer”? And what religions/denominations do they represent? The whole thing is ludicrous and makes no sense whatsoever.

This reminds me of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. “...they called on Baal from morning to noon, saying, “Answer us Baal!” But there was no sound and no one answering.”

There are those who maintain that any infringement on their living as they chose is an infringement on their lives.

If you ask what they do about other infringements, their responses are incoherent if not actually aggressive.

Logic is nowhere to be found in the pro-abort’s psyche, I’m afraid

Of course it’s not.  That’s why logic rarely convinces them.  At its base, the pro-choice position is an emotional one, not a logical one.  As valuable and correct as the pro-life arguments are, they simply fail to convince many pro-aborts because we are in a sense arguing past each other.  One is arguing based on logic, the other on emotion.

One does not expect to find logic or reason or Light from people who operate in the Dark. Neither has the Christian or Jewish world bebefitted from those who deny the Bible or twist doctrine or moral teaching out of its context.

Unbelievable arrogance and pride is the problem here.  These people know in their heart and souls that abortion is murder, but instead of recognizing and embracing the truth, they mock it. It is such blatant blasphemy that it takes your breath away. How sad that they think anyone would believe those hideous prayers are heard by our life-giving God with anything but sorrow. May they all someday be sanctified in the truth.

Satan seeks to succor his allies on earth by mocking the Church, its rites and its charitable works, all the while continuing the horrifying business of slaughtering babies. The tens of millions of martyrs slain by abortion, however, are our Lord’s insurmountable testimony to the futility of the pro-death mentality and the impotence of its diabolical mockery of Christian witnesses against the evil of abortion. The efforts of the Church are succeeding, as abortion clinics go out of business and the word spreads of how evil abortion truly is. The mockery of Planned Parenthood and their allies in the “clergy” is merely a spark of desperation. All we need to do is keep up the pressure in our vigils, prayers and witnessing.

“Life is Holy, therefore you have a Right to kill your Baby”?  Does this demonstrate how diabolical the Marxist Democrat Party is?? The Marxist Democrat Party is the author and engineer of the Culture of Death.

Sally, lest you wonder what denominations pray the ‘40 Days for Death’, you might be right in guessing the Episcopal Church.  See the link below for the radical pro-abortion lesbian ‘priest’ who was named the head of the Episcopal Divinity School in MA in 2009.  Among other outrageous actions and words, she once wrote an essay about the ‘blessings of an abortion’.  It is worse out there in Protestant land than you can even imagine.  Prayer is indicated for these lost souls in weird, cross-dressing clerical garb.

“Day 36: Today we pray for the families we’ve chosen. May they know the blessing of choice.”

So those children they allowed to live should be grateful huh? Kind of scary.

Yet, if on any level, they start actually praying to God, he will work powerfully in their lives and show them the truth. This is the feast of the resurrection when God defeats darkness.

I live 2 blocks from this PPfacility! They haven’t had a single sidewalk person out yet.
Their new facility replaces one that cannot hold a renter and is said to be “possessed.”
We live in a 260000 city dominated by Humboldt State University which is enormously atheist and prochoice. They ruin our area as well economically and then leave.
We are lucky here to have one priest to each parish. I’m sitting at the kitchen table sending this while caring for my very elderly parent.

I recommend that interested parties avoid these people as one can never tell where lighting will or will not strike.

The demonic is well at play.  It reminds me of the diabolical of turning the crucifix upside down.  They are turning 40 days of life into 40 days of death indeed.

Humboldt County, CA itself is full of dissidents, neo-pagans and those seeking to escape from society. Anyone can call themselves “clergy”. Ordination is available from the Humanist Society online for the price of last I knew, $20.00 and it costs little more than that in the State of Calif. to legally establish a church. No serious theological or divinity degree is necessary. Your local bar can be a “church” in this state. False prophets abound! I used to believe that if someone called themselves a minister or a pastor they were people called by God. That is not the case in this state. It’s more a matter of caveat emptor.

Nice post. This is disappointing. I reblogged here: http://www.battleforthecoreoftheworld.com/2012/04/congratulations-planned-parenthood.html.
I have a terrible feeling that this movement will become the flagship of the “pro-choice” movement and though it will be much much much smaller than the prolife activists, they will probably get equal coverage in the media. This shouldn’t disappoint us so much that they are praying for abortion (I doubt many actually will) as much as now the movement has a face for the camera…

It won’t happen. Prayer is the main thing that separates us from them.

This so sad. How do catholics and clergy lose their way.  Jesus is the Truth and the Truth is that God authors life, sustains life and determines its end.

One thing that bothers me is that Catholics have an obligation to engage in ecumenical dialogue including joint prayer services with these people and the so-called churches they are members of.

The irony of the prayer for “Day 40” is just obscene. The medically proven link between abortion and cancer later in life completely destroys the validity of their statement and their false belief in “safe” abortions.
I also found it disturbing that they attempt to paint 40 days for life prayer gatherings as attended by people with “hostility”. I suppose that seeing small groups of people praying the rosary is just too shocking for them…
I am only 34 years old, but I really feel like the tone in this country has become so volatile in the last 2 years it is difficult to find peace outside of the Adoration Chapel sometimes…I want to believe in my Country again…

1. Mr. Parker, we have no obligation to join in prayer services with anyone praying for evil.

2. “Day 36: Today we pray for the families we’ve chosen.
May they know the blessing of choice.”

Translation: Today we pray that our children will know how lucky they are that we chose to let them live.

3. Isaiah 5:20

These clergy does not know a b c d of their vow. Are they obedient to Church ? Even if they have doubt about a teaching, this is not the way to deal with it. Have they cared to think that everybody can interprete a thing in any way. That is why some argue legalization of incest or freedom for pre marital sex. All these originate in the West because God is not given a place in the heart. I pray that these clergy may be blessed with wisdom and obedience.

This reminds me of when I was a child and made a rather transparent imitation of my favorite cartoon.  I nailed the physical slapstick, but lacked the philosophical perspective that made it more than that.  It didn’t have the magic.  I am not too worried that many people will be fooled by the utter lack of authenticity in this, either (at least I hope not).

The Catholic Church does not say that you shouldn’t engage in dialogue and joint prayer services with denominations that are pro abortion.  Rome had the Joint Decree on Justification with the World Federation of Lutherans which is pro abortion and pro homosexual.  JP2 prayed with their leaders.

Neil, I didn’t say that the Church says we shouldn’t engage in dialogue or joint prayer services with pro-aborts. I said we are under no obligation to pray with those who are praying for abortion. That means that:

1. We are *permitted* and even encouraged to dialogue and pray with those who hold opposing viewpoints. But we are not required to.

2. We are not only not required but *forbidden* from praying *with* pro-aborts when they are praying for evil.

Hope that clarifies what I was saying.

@ Janelle Flores:  I am disgusted by Planned Parenthood, but even more so disappointed by those who support them AND talk as though they are firm believers in Christ. There is so much satanic speech out there hidden under the guise of goodness, like wolves in sheeps’ clothing. . .

You have every reason to be disgusted.  A few words for you that answers your question:  “privileging of private conscience.”  Without, of course, any understanding that when one “follows one’s conscience,” that conscience must be properly formed.

There’s also the matter of making Jesus in your own image by using Scripture to back up anything under the sun (when the true hermeneutic for Scripture is Jesus, and not your “private conscience” or private interpretation, since Scripture doesn’t interpret itself;  it’s an old trick—the Devil can quote Scripture, too, and did so when he tempted Jesus in the desert).  So what results is harmless, gentle, banal and bland Jesus who would never hurt a fly, always approves of everything you do (even that which is evil, because you “felt” that you had “good intentions”), and who would—God forbid—never “judge.”  Because, hey:  “What Would Jesus Do?”  That perniciously sentimental little phrase, repeated ad nauseum these days, is almost invariably used to silence opponents while grabbing the moral high road.

As you rightly put it:  disgusting.

There is a difference between praying with a group for Christian unity and praying with pro-choice-of death-in the womb people AND endorsing the entire agenda of even the denominations which support moral evil. We are living in a complex world of Faith and social evil. The Popes get on with it and we also. PEACE

What do I think?  I think these “clergy” are little anti-christs, workin’ for the big anti-christ.  I’m also bettin’ that abortion isn’t the only deeply ingrained sin of which they are proud.

If they could define what they mean by life being “holy”, then it might make some sort of odd sense. “Holy” might mean autonomous, or unhampered by any law or commandment. For them, choice is a blessing, because it is what allows them to let some live, and others die. So they’re like God then, who of course is Holy.

lethargic and eric: ERIC: Holy is neither autonomous or unhampered by any law or commandment. GOD told Moses He is holy and spelled out ten major ways for HIS followers to be holy, “murder”- the proper word, not “kill” was prohibited. LETHARGIC; I have added the mis-guided pro-death clergy to my prayers. Tug of war between Heaven and Hell’s forces, even if they are sincere, they are still wrong.

I read today that the Run for Komen cancer walk has a lot fewer this year. Sad that they shot themselves in the feet, pun intended, by funding Pl P’hood and probably lost a lot of the generous people who are pro-life and care for the hurting.

“We believe that human life is holy. Therefore we think you should be able to kill innocent human beings.” If that is not the depth of insanity, I don’t know what is.

We have to keep in mind that these folks are blinded by the evil one. There is no other explanation for such inversion of reason. Please God, give them the grace to have a change of heart.

This reminds me of a quote from St Maximilian Kolbe - “Modern times are dominated by satan and will be even more so in the future.”

PS,  Jimmy’s phrase “satanic parody” is right, I think. Things like this are mockery from the evil one. I don’t hesitate one moment to say that their “prayer” campaign was inspired by the deceiver.

You really didn’t have to break it down, it is obviously, in your face - Bizarro!

first I shook my head then I actually sort of laughed, how ridiculous and absurd; but there are people who actually believe this.  Never, Never say there is no devil!!!There is no end to his creativeness…and his lies.

You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem….no room for innocent bystanders here….

This is satanic - who are they praying to…Molech?

The thing is these so-called clergy are not respecting people’s choices to be parents…they are respecting people’s choice to murder and not be charged with murder. They don’t value the child’s life the same as they do an adult’s life. By their philosophy one should be able to “choose” to murder a family member, because they have the right to “choose” to be a brother, sister, child, etc…Such is the great flaw of the pro-choice argument - the denial that a defenseless growing fetus is a human life - with the same rights as those who are outside of the womb. Shame on these people and shame on this country for Roe v. Wade.

One more thing - it’s funny to see people up in arms about the “War on Women,” but do they care that they are waging a deadly “War on Children?.” On one end, women are “inconvenienced,” on the other, children are murdered.

I’ve had some experience with 40-Days for Life.  This organization does good work, however,  it really only wants to gives the appearance of opposition.  When they are asked to deal with the “root cause” of abortion which is as stated by Alan Guttmacher of the Guttmacher Institute, “sex education secures abortion”, heads of 40-Days for Life refuse to expose the evil of the corruption of our youth in parochial schools and CCD programs.  It was formerly a crime to scandalize youth in this manner, yet these so-called defenders of life find it too difficult to oppose what Randy Engel has so well documented in her book, “Sex Education, the Final Plague”.  We are now raising the new barbarians she states.  Such weakness of heart and desiring to stay with in their comfort zone, this organization appears to approve what has been Supremely condemned which leads to suspicion of secret complicity for pro-choice.  What else can we conclude if they will not speak out against programs that prepare young girls for their later need of abortion?

Minty,

We are not all given the same ministry. I often think of my friend who is a school teacher and loves it, whereas when I’m given a classroom full of children I have the urge to throttle them. I do computer/detailed work, which would drive her nuts. We both have ministries God has given us, yet neither of us could do the work of the other.

40 Days for Life has a very specific focus—which is what makes it so effective and easy to implement. Their mission is 40 days of prayer, fasting, vigil and community outreach for an end to abortion. There are many, MANY issues that lead to abortion—I would include pornography, the sex saturated culture/movies, contraception, and a hedonistic culture as also part of the problem as well as sex education. To take on every single issue would be too much for this simple model or for any one person.

However, I’ve noticed, through my own participation in 40 Days for Life, that those who participate often feel called to do more. Through the prayer and fasting God touches their hearts and calls them to a specific ministry. Through the community outreach more people learn about the horrors of abortion and start seeking ways to end it before the door to the clinic. I’ve seen chastity education ministries start up, people getting involved in the contraception debate, and parents getting involved with their children’s education.

If you feel called to focus on sex education, then by all means answer God’s call, but don’t complain that people with other ministries aren’t getting involved. He gave YOU this mission, begin. Others who have also been given this mission will join you.

Sex education in parochial classrooms is saturated with pornography and the hedonistic lifestyles are presented to the eyes and minds of innocent unsuspecting youth.  Youth are taught in parochial classrooms that they have the right to ‘choose’ their own gratifications without adult consultation.  These programs exist because of denial, the fear of losing jobs and prestige, its discomforting to talk about, and more.  The majority of the teachers in the parochial schools accept the practice of contraception and not what Holy Mother Church teaches.  I’ve heard your defense arguments before and that is, that it is not the mission of the claimed pro-life organization.  Please acknowledge that I’m speaking of sexualized materials that interfere with proper growth and development.  These curriculae violate the historical wisdom of Holy Mother Church and is a serious problem within.    Furthermore, 40-Days for Life operates within the acceptable boundaries of opposition designated by Planned Parenthood.  They operate as false opposites as the Democrat and the Republican Parties.  If 40-Days for Life is serious about saving babies in the womb, it is imperative they stop being reactionary and deal directly with what is opposing young minds from living the virtues in order to oppose the vices for the sake of society and our nation.  IMO, 40-Days for Life has not the courage.  It’s too big of an issue and it’s uncomfortable.  As they currently operate, none will remember them as the Martrys and Saints who shed their blood to defend truth and life.

You are speaking of sexualized materials that interfere with proper growth and development. However, just because something is good to do doesn’t mean everyone has to do it. It’s good to pray outside of an abortion center, to work in a crisis pregnancy clinic, to advocate for appropriate sex education, to do political advocacy, to work in a soup kitchen, visit those in prison, evangelize via media, and pray for hours in adoration. Yet no one person can do all of these things plus all the many, many more things that are good and would build up a culture of life.

We each have a ministry that God calls us to focus on. If Bob has been given the grace and talent to be a good teacher, he needs to focus on teaching ministries. If Jane is exceptionally blessed at making the poor feel loved, then she should be in ministries that focus on that. If Christina is more prone to working with computers and her interacting with people leads to them feeling unloved, then it makes sense for her to not be in a direct ministry but in the background making sure everything runs smoothly.

I don’t think those who brave getting yelled at, spit upon and possibly seen and slandered by coworkers and friends are candidates for cowardice. If anything, the time involved in 40 Days for Life gives people the courage to address issues they would probably otherwise ignore out of fear. It gives them a sense of urgency (it’s easy to think our culture is just fine and dandy until you see the women entering these places). Finally, people come together and share ideas through which they learn of other ministries they can get involved in.

Rather than fighting against this ministry for not doing this work, start a ministry that does. In our community a group of people got together to start a chastity ministry (they outreach to middle and high school students).

Lady Cygnus , 40-Days for Life are reps are ‘fragmented thinkers”.  40-Days for Life refuse to ‘ask the right questions’.  They do not connect the dots to the moral foundations of youth being destroyed by an unholy tyranny.  Youth must be guided properly while still very impressionable.  These pornographic-sexualized lesson plans of sex education spoil the minds and prevent the will to become all that God meant for each one to be.  40-Days for Life meekly accepts the corruption of youth, does not grasp that the abortion issue needs to be dealt with before youth enter the age of engaging in reckless escapades.  How rare it is to change the minds of mothers and fathers as they walk into PPH to destroy their baby.  It’s a little late to change minds of those who have adopted lifestyles acquired in their most formidable years.  40-Days for Life’s silence is a tragedy.  Who has put a muzzle on them?  Forty days, 40 months or 40 years from now, 40-Days for Life will not have made a hill of beans difference because the moral foundations of our most valuable resource, our youth will have been destroyed all the more.  As the tyranny of moral relativism and barbarism increases, natural/divine rights become all the more blurred and unrecognized.  Protecting the Catholic faith has grown cold.  We have all been awarded the task to speak out when an audacious evil has been exposed and not run to hide in some convenient corner expecting that another will do the grunge work and labor to stop it.  When awareness has been made of the atrocities committed against our youth and still 40-Days for Life makes no adjustments to combat it, than one can safely conclude they are not interested in the facts and the evidences that point to the reason the services of PPH continue to exist.

Minty,

Your ignorance, mean-spiritedness, and animosity toward those who do so much good makes you a satan who is actually the cause of all the evil things you claim the greatest of God’s warriors have no interest in curing. You claim to know what 40 Days for Life members have in the way of courage. You claim to know that, because (you ASSUME) they are not doing any of the things you think would be best, they are therefore not interested in the facts and the evidence that point to the reason that PPH continues to exist. You claim that 40 Days for Life will not make any difference for the future simply because (you assume) the things you wish would be done are not being done. In reality, though, you are assuming things about the MANY members of 40 Days for Life that you have absolutely no basis for assuming. You judge the power of their prayer by things you want to see happen in our world but yet (you assume) do not. You assume they make no substantial difference because you rely on the power of men and not on that of God.

You cannot judge the hearts of these people. You have not a clue what they do or don’t do. If you believe their actions and their prayers and their efforts are for naught, then you should stop talking about the Catholic faith and Holy Mother Church because you have absolutely not real faith at all. Your posts express no love at all. Just complete ignorance and hatred for those who are truly doing God’s most important work. Shame on you.

James, this issue is not about me. Let’s return to the reason why fathers and mothers choose abortion.  Youth are a captivated audience used for fodder to destroy the faith.  Consider the fact that 53% of lay religious (paid) teachers believe a Catholic can have an abortion and continue to teach our youth?  Where is the logic to attack me for speaking out?!!!  40-Days for Life appears determined not to defend our youth from the scandalous materials foistered upon them.  To whom are they accountable?

Let’s say we were talking about a group that works with the poor. Say they provide food and shelter. Now we know that broken homes are more likely to be in poverty and society’s view of sex is more likely to cause broken homes. So, someone could argue that those not trying to stop sex ed are determined to continue the cycle of poverty. Would they be right in calling the Little Sisters of the Poor cowards and trying to corrupt our youth

No, they have a different focus and mission. They do good work, even if it is not the same good work others do. It would be slander to say otherwise. I don’t know how else to explain and I hope the Lord gants you peace in your heart over this issue.

Minty,

Christina hit the nail on the head. My point is that you have no idea whether various members of 40 Days for Life are or aren’t assisting in fighting the evils you speak of. So how can you say such absurd things as “40-Days for Life appears determined not to defend our youth from the scandalous materials foistered upon them”?? How can you say such things? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about! And as Christina, and others, have pointed out, if they are not doing those things, then maybe that’s not what God has called *them* to do!

Either way, you are way out of line in your attacks on one of the greatest movements of our lifetime.

No one so far has asked for substantiation that youths’ souls are at great risk in parochial schools and CCD programs.  That’s interesting.    The national director is David Bereit:  This is contact information:

I totally agree with your final comment:
“Human life is holy, so you have a right to destroy it” is a Satanic parody of the true value of human life and its implications, just as its 40 days for death campaign is a Satanic parody of 40 Days for Life

The basic FACT of LIFE is that without Conception and Nurturing time in the womb - All HUMAN LIFE would cease to exist on this planet.

And that is satan’s goal of course - the end of human life on this planet.

Satan’s battle is especially against children; whether it be abortion, or child abuse and neglect. It is to wound and destroy the abundant overflow of vibrant life that God offers to each person, from the moment of conception to natural death.

God is the great I AM (Living Being) – and it is God who calls each one of us into being. From the moment God calls us into existence in the womb of our mother, we are loved by God and precious in God’s eyes; and no human being has the right to make themselves out as a god to end that human life.

Why is satan given a platform in school curriculae that prepares youth for the need of abortion?  And why are those pro-life groups with the mike and the platform silent?

Well done, Jimmy!

This, again, is just sad. How deluded can you get, seriously…I mean, what does God think when people pray for such intentions??

May He have mercy on them. And may we love them radically

Perhaps if the Church spent more time and money in promoting and supporting catechesis in the parishes it would not have to look to a civil government to enforce what it has failed to teach.

The comment about failing in catechesis is neither fair nor relevant. The Catholic population is approx. one in four in the USA- that leaves 3/4. Of those how many are not in favour of all human life, or life in the womb at least who need the formation and awareness, and how many of those ideitified as Catholic. The propaganda of the extreme Left, the backing of the Democratic Party and the extreme aggressiveness of this POTUS is a force that needs conversionm correction and coercion with facts and logic- Planned Parenthood is a huge money machine that has to cash to influencec politicians and is astute at spreading lies and part truth aided by an unsuspecting pro-abort mentality in the media. The TV ads, discussions, homilies on the Consistent Ethic of Life- not harping on abortion every four years of the federal election cycle are important. The ads. for life are reasonable. Screaming at abortion clinics and shooting or burning the medical staff and their buildings is neither moral nor smart polictics because it gives the totally respectful and moral people a bad name for the anti-life crowd who are smart to exaggerate and blame them all. Cnnning as snakes and simple as doves is how the LORD OF LIFE advised His followers

Good morning: I should never be surprised at what I read in these times, yet, I am. We must agree there are those, even those who wear the collar of minister, who do not bow down to God, the Creator of the Universe and themselves….Then I ask, who is their God? Is it the god of the earth, this world? Then that is Satan. Just because someone says they are ministers doesn’t mean that they are the ministers of the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob and ..Jesus Christ. In these days, it is the signs of the times as spoken by Jesus Christ in the Book of Matthew. Jesus forwarned His true believers to beware of those who twist the truth for whatever motive.  Let us all stop here and look at the Big Picture in this report.  These, who call themselves clergy, of the cloth, say they pray…well, I ask seriously, whom or what are they praying to….for you can’t expect God, the Creator of the Universe and of each human being, to grant something that is evil in His eyes.  Man cannot not ask God to go against what He asks in the Holy Scriptures, not to do,  such as thou shall not kill.  Being reminded, the Holy Scriptures from Genesis to the New Testement, says that we are made in the image of God….The spoken Word says, “Be Holy as I am Holy.”  What is Holy? It is the state of purity in mind, heart, body, and spirit with the infilling and indwelling of the Spirit of God.  God’s Spirit does not make man do something that is against God.  It is mans spirit intertwined with demonic influence to act upon those things that God desires His children not to do. But, back to basics…who or what god are they praying to to have the condoning of killing unborn babies, for whatever reason, to be blessed by a higher power which many assume the name is God, God through Jesus Christ to be specific.  Holy? Please tell me what is Holy in putting your babies on the altar of sacrafice to the influence of demonic forces for twisted, selfish motives.  You lay down, you accept the consequences of your choices….that is the growing up of man/woman within himself/herself to learn to choose righteousness over unrighteousness behavior.  How can anything, such as killing babies at any stage of existence, be called Holy, righteous, or encouraged unless the human vessel is possessed by something that is not of God. Proverbs 16:17 states, “The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his ways guards his life.” and vs 18 states, “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Matthew 24 Jesus states, “Watch out that no one deceives you.  For many will come in my name, claiming, “I am the Christ and will deceive you.”  Those of the collar, figureative and actual, come in the name of Jesus Christ with all the attributes of Scriptual presentation, yet some are wolves ready to chew up the very elect. As true believers of Jesus Christ, when we receive Jesus into our hearts and our lives, we believe Jesus is within us, His seed, and we learn to grow up to be like our Big Brother, adopted into the family of God thru the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. Thus those who take a step higher into the rhealm of ministry have a responsiblity to sheppherd and teach the people the valid teachings of Jesus Christ in Word and Deed.  Matthew 24 vs 10 states, “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.  Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” We follow by our will, our choice, the law of God or the law of the land. Nevertheless, all of creation will stand in front of God to be judged for every word and deed we have done in the flesh.  Many, who called themselves ministers of Gods Word, Jesus will say to them, “go away from me, you man of iniquiry(sin). I know you not.” Are you ready? Are you wise? Live and learn my children, for our days are numbered as the number of hairs on our head…

Rosebud; That is a very long carbon print for an audience, who apparently does not exist on this site, clergy who are pro-abortion?

“Praying” to abort babies???????? To whom are they going to “pray”?????

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant pastor or seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith. Eventually, he was compelled in conscience to enter the Catholic Church, which he did in 1992. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is a Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to This Rock magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."
