5 Things Every Catholic Should Know About How Search Engines Work

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 7:49 AM Comments (56)

On Monday I issued a rallying cry for Catholics, as well as all pro-lifers, to get serious about search engine optimization. These days the human search for truth is often literally a search typed out on the internet, so it’s of the utmost importance that Catholics understand how to make sure our websites are visible to search engines. Some folks asked for specific tips for how to go about this. Though entire books have been written on the subject, and there’s a multimillion dollar industry for people who specialize in this area, search engine optimization is really quite simple. Whether you are in charge of the official internet presence of a large organization, or simply have a small personal blog, you can play a big part in fighting the search engine war if you understand these five simple principles:

1. There are tools that will tell you which search terms are most popular: As we’ll discuss in #2, you’ll want to hone in on somewhere between one and three search phrases for which you want your site to rank high. To help you determine which keywords would make most sense for you to target, you can use Google’s handy keyword tool to find out how popular various search terms are. And keep in mind that the most popular isn’t necessarily the best: It would be much harder to rank on page one for the super popular term church than for the less popular term church in Denver. So, for example, if you run a parish website in Denver, it may make more sense to optimize on the latter, less popular phrase that’s more in line with your mission.

2. The typical website can only rank high for a few key terms: It is unlikely that your website would be able to rank on page one of the major search engines for lots of different terms, so the best strategy is to choose just one or two to focus on. For example, if you run a pro-life crisis pregnancy center in Cincinnati, you may decide that the most important phrase that you’d want your site to rank high for is abortion in Cincinnati, so that women searching on this term will know that there is a positive alternative to abortion available to them. As we’ll see in the tips below, knowing your goal term(s) is critical for making your site search engine optimized.

3. Search engines look at the words in incoming links to your site: One of the ways to improve your rank for a key phrase is to get others to link to you by using words from that phrase in their link. This is also good to know for anyone who publishes anything online, whether or not you care about your own site’s search engine rank. You can help search engines like Google find sites with truthful, quality information by creating keyword-rich links. For example, let’s say I write a post referencing an article that debunks the myth that Catholics worship Mary, and I link to it by saying, “Check out this article that debunks the myth that Catholics worship Mary.” Here are two ways I could place the link, one good, one bad:

  • Good:  “Check out this article that debunks the myth that Catholics worship Mary.”
  • Bad: “Check out this article that debunks the myth that Catholics worship Mary.”

Notice that in the first one, the link includes the words Catholics worship Mary, which will help people searching on that subject find that page.

4. Search engines look at how frequently words are used on sites: To use the example from #2, if your crisis pregnancy center sets the goal of ranking high for the term abortion in Cincinnati, you’ll want to find ways to incorporate that term into the content of your site (without gaming the system, of course—you’ll get penalized by search engines if you create pages with no real content solely for the purpose of improving your ranking). So you may want to write a blog post called “Considering abortion in Cincinnati?”, create a static page with the title, “We offer alternatives to abortion in Cincinnati,” etc.

5. Search engines value words in some parts of websites more than those in other parts: The people who write search engine algorithms figure that websites will put the most important terms in places such as the domain name, page titles, section headers, bolded phrases, etc. If you have some basic knowledge of the technical side of websites, you can review the tips here to get a more detailed explanation of the most important places to put keywords. If you don’t know the difference between a meta tag and an H1 tag, don’t worry about it: Just make an effort to make your page titles and section headers contain the keywords that are important to you.

Whether you’d like to improve the rank of your own site, or just help other sites you like be more visible to search engines, knowing these five things will help you make a difference. If you’d like to learn more, you can check out Google’s webmaster tools, and read some of their informational posts about how search engines work. Also, if you’d like to learn from the best, just search on search engine optimization and see what high-ranking sites have to say. By definition, any site that’s on page one for the term search engine optimization must know a lot about search engine optimization!

This might sound boring to the non-nerds out there, but I assure you that this knowledge is critical for the modern Catholic. In order to use the internet to evangelize the culture, half the battle is simply to speak the truth on our websites; but the other half is to make sure that people can find them.

If its truth you seek convert.  There is no greater truth on earth than the word.  Something The Catholic Church heavily censors to its captive audience.  Simple truths.  Call no man father before you Father who is in heaven.  Do not say repetitious prays (rosary beads) Do not worship graven images (the crucifixion) In fact He went so far as to say do not call me great there are none great but God.  I was kind I didn’t even get into illegal activities.  I also didn’t mention that a man who self proclaims to be the vicar of Christ is safe hiding within his castle surrounded by secrets worshiping things made of man’s hands.  No Google is the least of your worries.  The fact that they didn’t tell you the truth is within that is your bigger concern as Judgment Day quickly comes.  Doesn’t matter?  Well the Spirit within tells me it does.  Now we just debate time and no longer truth hypocrite.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

What a timely, helpful post, Jen. Fantastic!

Wow, I had no idea about #3; I’ve been doing it wrong! Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for your concern Steven, but not to worry—‘the Rock on whom I will build my Church’ is a safe bet, in fact, one of the safest around. :)

If you are an uber-nerd you could always try to find a way to crack the Google Search algorithm.

Um, Steven. Scripture also says not to call a man “teacher” or “master.” If you’re going to criticize the Catholic Church, it would be helpful if you have a working knowledge of the underpinnings of what Scripture *actually* says. According to your misguided understanding, you would also not call your own biological father “Father.”

I could also point out the flaws of your other points, but I’d love to invite you to a private discussion at comments@catholicsistas.com to debunk the rest of your misconceptions. I look forward to hearing from you. :)

Great info Jen. But once again you have managed to ruffle the feathers of the insecure. I thin that the first (and second) commenter (troll?) would benefit greatly from better access to information on what and how we Catholics actually worship. Not to mention actually reading the bible instead of using sound bite that he found on the internet. Yeah, a little assumption on my part there at the last, but he clearly didn’t read the passage that he refers to as prohibiting “repetitious” prayers.
When I decided to study the Catholic Church, I found that most criticisms of said Catholic Church were based in ignorance, both willful and incidental.
God bless you Jen and you also Steven Macchia.

For them that can not read.  Kings James as I am not in need of help from the Catholic Church to interpret God’s own words.  This to clear up any questions of accuracy.

Matt.23

[9] And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Matt.19

[24] And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Isa.2

[8] Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
[20] In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

Matt.6

[7] But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

We have much to learn about God The Spirit and the word Vincent.

Steven Macchia,

If you’re going to attack Catholicism, could you please address what Catholics actually believe instead of what you think we believe? Thanks.

I can read just fine, and I don’t see anything in that verse that conflicts with Catholic teaching. Perhaps your interpretation is incorrect.

JoAnna I love you but what you see and what Jesus spoke are two entirely different things.  I promise what I say is true.

Steven Macchia,

How do you know that what YOU see and what Jesus spoke aren’t two entirely different things?

By what authority do you deem your interpretation of Scripture infallible?

I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men?

I’ll answer your question from Matthew 21:25 with another question, Steven.

Did Jesus write a book or establish a Church?

Again I say we have much to learn about God, The Spirit and the Books.

The Holy Spirit is GOD and yes The book was written by men as the were moved by the Holy Spirt meaning God wrote the book.  So inconclusion yes Jesus being the Son of God His very expressed image, yes He wrote the book and will close it too.

I agree the Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. But you and I read the same Bible but come to different conclusions about what it says.

Why is your specific interpretation of the Bible correct, but mine is not?

All understanding is by the Spirit first.  Second the head of man is Christ the head of woman is man and third the teachings of the church skip the Old Testament which is prophesy for things to come.  Abraham’s promise is still ineffect.  Something long lost.

We do since we are what we believe which is why when the Spirit came upon me I knew from the word to walk away from the false teachers.  You can tell them because every single word in the Bible is with great purpose and they do not change over time.  No excuses.  The Church adopted to this world.  We are to overcome this world.  No exceptions.  I say this in love seeing children diagnosed with mental disorders from a world that is extremely cruel with false teachers.  For those true to their hearts they see.

Your rock is the rock of offense for truth a sharp two edged sword.  Hot like a furnace.  Hence the mercy seat.  They don’t teach that do they.  But you will know it.  To hear when you no longer want to hear this is Salvation.

There are many authorities on the word here.  I would flee if i was you.  You should have believed on Lucifer and his minions as much as you believe on Jesus.  To and fro friends

May the Lord be between you and I always.

Steven, it would really help our dialogue if you could just answer my questions.

Why is it that your interpretation of Scripture is correct, but mine is not? I ask the Holy Spirit for guidance when reading Scripture. Is He leading me into error? How do you know you have not been led into error?

I know because you have not fled the churches as clearly instructed therfore you missed something.

If you believe the church you are being led into error.  Do you need more proof than Santa and the Easter Bunny?  Seriously if you would like to do a Bible Study togather I would be more than happy to do so but we must include the Old Testament which priest within your Church told me was worthless.  I quote.  We are near the end of time.  Then will the church repent of it’s ways.  If you do not see truth in my words then the truth is not in you.  To rebuke sin means empty churches.  Watch soon you will know.  You will all be shocked when the Anti Christ appears as the are many Anti Christs already.  Some in temples some in churches but I trust you all believe there is one truth.  Let the SPirit be that truth and may the Reconciliation Minister come soon.  Amen.  Remember….

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Steven, Jesus says in the Bible to listen to the Church. (Matthew 18:17)

I disagree with your interpretation of Scripture. How do you know your interpretation is correct?

Not so…It says if you have an issue with a brother or sister or neighbor tell him to his face for love sake and for his soul.  If he doesn’t hear you then take it to the church.  Then the church should take it up with him or her and if he doesn’t hear the church then let them be as the heathen.  But the church does not operate this way.  I know.  I tried with very serious issues regarding the devil and they fled.  I speak of the church.  This verse is decribing the nature of judgment when we get serious which will be when we see and know the end is near.  Then will the churches get serious about sin.  Starting with there own or haven’t you read?  Or do you believe the leader like the centurion is not accountable for what his men do?

Steven, how do you know your interpretation of those verses are correct?

The reward for sin is Spiritual death.  Then are you open to the devil.  Period end of story.  This is why Peter The Rock will not allow satan to prevail.

But Peter has not come yet.  But He too is coming as all the saints are coming.  This is where the Spirit and wisdom and understanding comes from.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

May this cup pass from me.  The cup holds the spirit friends.  And truth is non negiotable nor is tolerance in any way love.

How do I know?  Read it!

Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
[16] But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
[17] And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

That doesn’t answer my question, Steven. Which church is that verse referring to? There are thousands of Christian denominations, all of whom claim to interpret Scripture correctly. How do you know which one to listen to? How do you know your interpretation (or your church’s interpretation) of those verses is correct?

Excellent question.  Listen to the one (church) that wants to reconcile the book as one truth across all denominations of Christianity and Judaism.  That is the worthy church and they truly love Jesus and His words.  That one….. believe that one.

Good Luck

He said there would only be a remnant.  He also said we deserve what Sodom and Gomorrah got except the the days get shorter for the elects sake.  Well the day did get shorter now we all watch for the shoe to drop.  Truth obviously isn’t enough for Gentiles or Jews.

God is oneness without fear.  Where was the pontiff when this Minister was condemed to death for Christianity.  In his castle.  Please I can do this all day and will for Christ because He loved me first.

I settle for the one church that claims it wants to work on doing that with all sincerity instead of keeping scholars to themselves to understand when the heir might come and then to keep it hidden.  Money is failing and it is well documented in the texts.  We are near the end.  Stars decend on Jerusalem and we call it UFO’s.  Where are the wise men?

Where are the watchers?

Truth matters that should be enough once you hear it.

Excellent question. Listen to the one (church) that wants to reconcile the
book as one truth across all denominations of Christianity and Judaism. That
is the worthy church and they truly love Jesus and His words. That one…..
believe that one.

So, believe in the Catholic Church? Great! I agree 100%. My question is, why don’t you?

Where does Christ return?  Rome?  In the clouds right.  And you wonder why the Jews mock.  The Jews got promises.  Gentiles AKA sinners got parables and all wait with transporters in hand.  Led to the slaughter I am telling you and none hear so far swayed by teachers who know nothing.  Ever hear of the Sanhedrin.  Let me post this.  It is the conditions or reason’ the Mashiach comes.  Mashiach interpreted Messiah interpreted Christ.  It is from a Jews percpective who scour the books waitng for land.

This is perfect truth from a Jews percpective.  I say they are closer than the Gentiles.  More easily swayed since the found the mercy seat with Jesus’ blood on it buried under where He was hung on the cross.  How do I know?  Heir to Aaron the priest who was raised in the temple institute told me so before he was kicked out after he had a Revelation of Jesus Christ is Messiah.  Read.  It’s all true and they don’t believe but they will quicker than you.

The Messianic Idea in Judaism

Belief in the eventual coming of the mashiach is a basic and fundamental part of traditional Judaism. It is part of Rambam’s 13 Principles of Faith, the minimum requirements of Jewish belief. In the Shemoneh Esrei prayer, recited three times daily, we pray for all of the elements of the coming of the mashiach: ingathering of the exiles; restoration of the religious courts of justice; an end of wickedness, sin and heresy; reward to the righteous; rebuilding of Jerusalem; restoration of the line of King David; and restoration of Temple service.

Modern scholars suggest that the messianic concept was introduced later in the history of Judaism, during the age of the prophets. They note that the messianic concept is not explicitly mentioned anywhere in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible).

However, traditional Judaism maintains that the messianic idea has always been a part of Judaism. The mashiach is not mentioned explicitly in the Torah, because the Torah was written in terms that all people could understand, and the abstract concept of a distant, spiritual, future reward was beyond the comprehension of some people. However, the Torah contains several references to “the End of Days” (acharit ha-yamim), which is the time of the mashiach; thus, the concept of mashiach was known in the most ancient times.

The term “mashiach” literally means “the anointed one,” and refers to the ancient practice of anointing kings with oil when they took the throne. The mashiach is the one who will be anointed as king in the End of Days.

The word “mashiach” does not mean “savior.” The notion of an innocent, divine or semi-divine being who will sacrifice himself to save us from the consequences of our own sins is a purely Christian concept that has no basis in Jewish thought. Unfortunately, this Christian concept has become so deeply ingrained in the English word “messiah” that this English word can no longer be used to refer to the Jewish concept. The word “mashiach” will be used throughout this page.

Some gentiles have told me that the term “mashiach” is related to the Hebrew term “moshiah” (savior) because they sound similar, but the similarity is not as strong as it appears to one unfamiliar with Hebrew. The Hebrew word “mashiach” comes from the root Mem-Shin-Chet, which means to paint, smear, or annoint. The word “moshiah” comes from the root Yod-Shin-Ayin, which means to help or save. The only letter these roots have in common is Shin, the most common letter in the Hebrew language. The “m” sound at the beginning of the word moshiah (savior) is a common prefix used to turn a verb into a noun. For example, the verb tzavah (to command) becomes mitzvah (commandment). Saying that “mashiach” is related to “moshiah” is a bit like saying that ring is related to surfing because they both end in “ing.”

The Mashiach

The mashiach will be a great political leader descended from King David (Jeremiah 23:5). The mashiach is often referred to as “mashiach ben David” (mashiach, son of David). He will be well-versed in Jewish law, and observant of its commandments (Isaiah 11:2-5). He will be a charismatic leader, inspiring others to follow his example. He will be a great military leader, who will win battles for Israel. He will be a great judge, who makes righteous decisions (Jeremiah 33:15). But above all, he will be a human being, not a god, demi-god or other supernatural being.

It has been said that in every generation, a person is born with the potential to be the mashiach. If the time is right for the messianic age within that person’s lifetime, then that person will be the mashiach. But if that person dies before he completes the mission of the mashiach, then that person is not the mashiach.

When Will the Mashiach Come?

There are a wide variety of opinions on the subject of when the mashiach will come. Some of Judaism’s greatest minds have cursed those who try to predict the time of the mashiach’s coming, because errors in such predictions could cause people to lose faith in the messianic idea or in Judaism itself. This actually happened in the 17th century, when Shabbatai Tzvi claimed to be the mashiach. When Tzvi converted to Islam under threat of death, many Jews converted with him. Nevertheless, this prohibition has not stopped anyone from speculating about the time when the mashiach will come.

Although some scholars believed that G-d has set aside a specific date for the coming of the mashiach, most authority suggests that the conduct of mankind will determine the time of the mashiach’s coming. In general, it is believed that the mashiach will come in a time when he is most needed (because the world is so sinful), or in a time when he is most deserved (because the world is so good). For example, each of the following has been suggested as the time when the mashiach will come:

if Israel repented a single day;
if Israel observed a single Shabbat properly;
if Israel observed two Shabbats in a row properly;
in a generation that is totally innocent or totally guilty;
in a generation that loses hope;
in a generation where children are totally disrespectful towards their parents and elders;
What Will the Mashiach Do?

Before the time of the mashiach, there shall be war and suffering (Ezekiel 38:16)

The mashiach will bring about the political and spiritual redemption of the Jewish people by bringing us back to Israel and restoring Jerusalem (Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 23:8; 30:3; Hosea 3:4-5). He will establish a government in Israel that will be the center of all world government, both for Jews and gentiles (Isaiah 2:2-4; 11:10; 42:1). He will rebuild the Temple and re-establish its worship (Jeremiah 33:18). He will restore the religious court system of Israel and establish Jewish law as the law of the land (Jeremiah 33:15).

Olam Ha-Ba: The Messianic Age

The world after the messiah comes is often referred to in Jewish literature as Olam Ha-Ba (oh-LAHM hah-BAH), the World to Come. This term can cause some confusion, because it is also used to refer to a spiritual afterlife. In English, we commonly use the term “messianic age” to refer specifically to the time of the messiah.

Olam Ha-Ba will be characterized by the peaceful co-existence of all people (Isaiah 2:4). Hatred, intolerance and war will cease to exist. Some authorities suggest that the laws of nature will change, so that predatory beasts will no longer seek prey and agriculture will bring forth supernatural abundance (Isaiah 11:6-11:9). Others, however, say that these statements are merely an allegory for peace and prosperity.

All of the Jewish people will return from their exile among the nations to their home in Israel (Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 23:8; 30:3; Hosea 3:4-5). The law of the Jubilee will be reinstated.

In the Olam Ha-Ba, the whole world will recognize the Jewish G-d as the only true G-d, and the Jewish religion as the only true religion (Isaiah 2:3; 11:10; Micah 4:2-3; Zechariah 14:9). There will be no murder, robbery, competition or jealousy. There will be no sin (Zephaniah 3:13). Sacrifices will continue to be brought in the Temple, but these will be limited to thanksgiving offerings, because there will be no further need for expiatory offerings.

Some gentiles have tried to put an ugly spin on this theology, claiming that Jews plan to force people to convert to our religion, perhaps based on their own religion’s history of doing exactly the same thing. That is not at all how Jews understand the messianic age. We believe that in that future time, everyone will simply know what the truth is, in the same way that we know that 2+2=4, and there will no longer be any reason to argue about it. It is much like a situation I witnessed at work once: two computer programmers were arguing loudly and at length about whether it was possible for a user to input data at a certain point in a program. Finally someone pressed a key and they all saw that nothing happened. Now they knew the truth, end of argument. When mashiach comes, theological truths will be equally obvious to mankind, and there will be no reason to argue about it.

What About Jesus?

Jews do not believe that Jesus was the mashiach. Assuming that he existed, and assuming that the Christian scriptures are accurate in describing him (both matters that are debatable), he simply did not fulfill the mission of the mashiach as it is described in the biblical passages cited above. Jesus did not do any of the things that the scriptures said the messiah would do.

On the contrary, another Jew born about a century later came far closer to fulfilling the messianic ideal than Jesus did. His name was Shimeon ben Kosiba, known as Bar Kokhba (son of a star), and he was a charismatic, brilliant, but brutal warlord. Rabbi Akiba, one of the greatest scholars in Jewish history, believed that Bar Kokhba was the mashiach. Bar Kokhba fought a war against the Roman Empire, catching the Tenth Legion by surprise and retaking Jerusalem. He resumed sacrifices at the site of the Temple and made plans to rebuild the Temple. He established a provisional government and began to issue coins in its name. This is what the Jewish people were looking for in a mashiach; Jesus clearly does not fit into this mold. Ultimately, however, the Roman Empire crushed his revolt and killed Bar Kokhba. After his death, all acknowledged that he was not the mashiach.

Throughout Jewish history, there have been many people who have claimed to be the mashiach, or whose followers have claimed that they were the mashiach: Shimeon Bar Kokhba, Shabbatai Tzvi, Jesus, and many others too numerous to name. Leo Rosten reports some very entertaining accounts under the entry for meshiekh in The New Joys of Yiddish. But all of these people died without fulfilling the mission of the mashiach; therefore, none of them were the mashiach. The mashiach and the Olam Ha-Ba lie in the future, not in the past.

Believe in the Catholic Church?  Thats what you got out of this?  Believe in yourself first.  Only you can save you.  This is perfect truth none can rebuke.

That’s not what the Bible says. I thought only Christ could save me? (Ephesians 2:8)

The Catholic Church teaches that Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. I think you’re a closet Catholic, Steven, and you don’t even know it! Why don’t you investigate what the Church actually teaches instead of what you believe it teaches? You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find. :) I recommend www.Catholic.com.

Steven, why are you posting something for those who cannot read?

I continue to post because I believe you are sincere in wanting truth.  This may not be the most appropriate place.  May I suggest a group on Facebook?  I love all of you and want truth to reign.  Jesus by Spirt is GOD.  May that spirit dwell in you.

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John.15

Jesus said….........
[26] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Jesus said…...........
John.16

[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John said…...
1John.4

[6] We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
In conclusion the Spirit of God is truth.  And then there is the spirit of deception.  To tell the difference between the two is to discern Spirits.  To do this we must seek the light which is truth.

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Make your election sure.  We are to do the works not trust them to others.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Not in churches.

And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

The Jews matter and truths must be reconciles and can be reconciled even today by men who are humble and meek.  The words are all there men’s patience is not.

So what did Jesus do?  Why did He come?  They have a point.  By perfect law they have a point.  But God is the Law God made sacrifice so that light might enter the word once agian and that few might actually hear it comparing it to a perfect man’s walk knowing none in these days would be perfect.  Hoping there would be a desire for perfection.  Again not in the churches least of all from him that claim to be vicar of Christ.  I would run away.  I did run away.  Yes I was raised Catholic before being raised of Christ.

How does this tie to the end times?  How will the Jews see?  How will all those prophesies be fulfilled?  Son of David?  This speaks of Spirit, word and blood.  Yeah blood.

All can witness truth but first we must now our fathers worship other gods.  Written and perfect truth.  All will see.

I suggest reading Jeremiah as we are living it today.  Here is more prophesy you should hear on this very day.

Habakkuk Chapter 1.  Something else you never heard in church like God’s words expire.  No more likely you have been deceived.  And in perfect truth you have been deceived

“I will not die, but I will live to tell what the Lord has done.”

Psalm 118:17 NLT

Those who defend try to change my mind, but it is my heart the Lord Jesus Christ changed.

There is a key that changes all meaning in scrolls.  I dare not tell it since them in churches know nothing of the scrolls nor the Old Testament with the exception of what the teachers decided for you that you should know.  Like the Psalms.  Peace peace peace and there is no peace..

For these words alone would the church have me rejected so how could they allow truth ever?  They can’t and they are not smarter or more blessed than you child of God.

A quick review of God’s Will.

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

We are strangers in the land.  Truth is the way.  If you need help with truth it is in the word and the spirit.  NOT THE CHURCHES.  Proof is in the asking.  And I appreciate your asking.

God loves us and wants to see none lost.

Steven, if you start a group on Facebook, I’ll be willing to join it for further discussion. Or, if you like, you can start a thread at this forum and other Catholics (including myself) can join in the discussion: http://forums.catholic.com/

However, some advice: none of what you’re posting really makes sense. You keep citing Scripture and providing your interpretation (or your church’s?) of those verses, but If we’re going to dialogue we first have to determine why I should trust your private interpretation of those Scriptures in the first place. You’ve yet to clearly answer that very simple question.

Thanks for the great tips.  Suddenly, every Catholic with a computer wants to blog.  And, I couldn’t be more thrilled.  I survived years of rack after rack of “women’s” magazines.  Ugh.  There is so much more to life than that.  And, now, I have so many Catholic blogs and so little time.  ::sigh:: So, thanks for being part of the glut of Catholic blogging.  And, it’s great to see you are still able to capture such a diverse audience as evidenced by such diverse comments. ;)

The only reason to hear is because it matches what is in your own heart which trumps anything you have been taught if you are at peace and not defending this world.

Steven - I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you were using a search engine and were searching for:

“A place I can let Catholics know how wrong they are about what I think they believe, but really don’t understand anything about myself, yet I will tell them so anyway because if there is one thing I know for sure - even if I don’t understand anything about the Catholic Church - it’s that Catholics are definitely wrong”.

And that we’ve just done such a poor job with SEO that this is where you ended up. I’m very sorry about that.

Jennifer - great post! I would also add that one of the biggest problems with Catholic websites right now is that they are not built with systems that are SEO friendly in the first place. This is a fairly simple thing and can make all the difference. If your site doesn’t use certain coding standards, then - regardless of what it looks like to a human - it will be completely unreadable by a search engine “crawler” and your content will go unindexed. This can be easily fixed by building your site using a decent CMS (like wordpress or drupal or some other standard system that does all of this well by default). That alone would make a significant difference as a lot of the best Catholic content out there isn’t even being indexed/crawled properly in the first place.

Matthew thank you for the benefit of the doubt I KNOW Christ will not afford your church the same benefit.  This is written for the seeing and hearing.  Nor do I want to understand anything more about the Catholic Church prefering to understand Christ which is not understood in your church.  Of this I am sure you will repent.  The pope first.

Elias

Again I say your belief is not required except for your Salvation as each man will account for their ways.  Ways the church endorses as it collects your money and afflicts children.  Again I say as the centurion the leaders are accountable do as this and they do it or do that and they do it. Accountable with nowhere to hide.  Now I have said it.  We will know truth of the Prophet if it happens.  So we wait but not long I promise.

Curious Steven - were you born of a virgin, or did you have a human father?  If you did have a human father, what do you call him?

Brother Obedience to the word is not optional.  My words are true twisting them will not save you.  I promise my purpose for posting is you.  What you do with truth is completely up to you.  I care but can do no more than speak truth.  Jesus in heaven handles the rest.

Yes I was born a virgin a gift given that I completely screwed up unawares of the preciousness of the Laws for us.

Dad?

So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. We are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We who believe are carefully knit together, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also joined together as part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.
Ephesians 2:19-22 NLT

Jen, this was such a simple & straightforward post - very helpful! Thank you for all you do.

P.S. Friends in the comment box: You can scatter the seed, but you can’t make the plant come to fruition.

I think Jennifer gave us some brilliant ideas to broadcast Catholic blogs so we will be accessed by more searches.! We’ve got to get on line and shout our beliefs! After all, liberal new atheist bloggers are telling lies to get us to doubt ourselves and we are obliged to save souls—we need to say anything to get Catholics to come back.
Heck, Susan Sarandon called the Pope a Nazi and all she got was a slap on the wrist—no fines or even an apology. We need to fight back, and the web is mightier than the sword!

I just saw Jill’s post about vaccination on other articles—that is what I mean about saying anything to get attention! Wakefield and McCarthy got worldwide attention and still have many followers. Truth doesn’t matter when you want to attract believers. Let’s broadcast all the good about our Faith and bring the grace to more ignorant people!

Steve,

The problem you have is that you worship the Bible, which is contrary to the first commandment. You must worship the WORD of God, which is Jesus. The bible is the “inspired” word of God. (Note the difference in lower case “W” versus upper case “w”).

Hey, everybody! The Catholic Church in Ireland has the right idea—they developed an i-phone app to recruit priests!
.
The new ‘Vocations’ app was designed by Father Paddy Rushe and developed by the company Magic Time Apps, based in Dublin. It is available to download for free from the Apple iPhone App Store, said the church.
.
Some of the features of the app, according to the church, are: Connection to Twitter and Facebook; Social networking at the service of vocations; Contact details and statistics on the 26 dioceses of Ireland; Frequently asked questions to assist a person to discern his vocation; News feed running from the national vocations website; Novel and cursory ‘tests’ to enable the user to reflect on vocation potential.
.
“Future updates will include a “prayer counter” to allow people pledge a period of prayer for vocations and a picture gallery which will include some images from the life of a seminarian,” the church statement said…
.
The app is part of a campaign promoted on the church website – http://www.vocations.ie – and follows ‘Priesthood Sunday,’ which was on September 25. The website called it “an opportunity to highlight and promote particularly the vocation to the priesthood.”
.
Better than billboards!

My last post might be spam? I think an iPhone app is a great why to recruit priests!

Jennifer,
I loved your blog! I am a homeschooling mom of three and a freelance graphic designer and love all things involving marketing and advertising. For a long time I was told to keep my love of the Catholic Church and affiliation to it off my website. Just recently after 3 years of having a website, I dedicated it to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary with an illustration I had created for a client that fit perfectly. I also added Catholic Graphic Designer to my keywords and 2 days later received a call and subsequently a great lay apostolate as a client. Many protestant churches have such beautiful websites and great graphics. We can too! THe next step is getting found. The above info is spot on. Thanks! You said it in a way that I couldn’t. Maybe I should make an illustration of your key points. Hmmm. An idea may have just been born. God bless!
