This Is Pope Francis’ Prayer Intention for the Month of February
Praying for the terminally ill.
Praying for the terminally ill.
The Pope encouraged individuals to change ‘our mentality a little’ and open ‘ourselves to the abilities and talents of these people who are differently abled, both in society as well as in the life of the Church.’
Pope Francis references St. John Paul II, who said: ‘If you live with young people you become young yourself.’
The Pope’s prayer video, released monthly, includes images of the Mass, especially the moment of the elevation of the Eucharist during transubstantiation — or the moment the bread becomes Christ’s body.
Pope Francis concluded his message with a prayer: ‘Let us pray that the international community commit itself concretely to abolish torture, guaranteeing support to victims and their families.’
Pope Francis’ prayer video is promoted by the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, which raises awareness of monthly papal prayer intentions.
In some of the video clips, the faces of iconic people associated with peace — Pope John XXIII, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mahatma Gandhi — are superimposed on the scenes.
The Holy Father concluded the video message with a prayer for volunteer not-for-profit organizations.
The pope is asking Catholics to pray “that those responsible for finance will collaborate with governments to regulate financial markets and protect citizens from its dangers.”
Holy Father will have one monthly intention, plus an intention he will add himself each month to garner support for particular causes.
