4 Features of the Vatican’s New Documents on Apparitions
COMMENTARY: The new norms make no mention of Medjugorje, but it would be fair speculation to think that they were designed to make reaching a conclusion about Medjugorje easier.

ANALYSIS: At the core of the new document is a new way of classifying supernatural events.
The youth festival, in its 34th edition, is being held July 26–30 at the site of alleged Marian apparitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In front of St. James Church, the Polish cardinal met pilgrims from Ukraine, with whom he prayed and whom he blessed.
The purported apparitions originally began June 24, 1981, when six children in Medjugorje began to experience phenomena which they have claimed to be apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Pope Francis’ message was sent on the second day of the 32nd Medjugorje Youth Festival taking place in Bosnia and Herzegovina Aug. 1-8.
The Holy Father takes a dim view of the alleged Marian apparitions, and has extended the pastoral mandate of his envoy archbishop-emeritus Henryk Hoser.
At April 5 press conference, Archbishop Henryk Hoser stressed that the final determination of the apparition’s authenticity remains to be seen.
Cardinal Francis Arinze, whose new book about Marian veneration will be released this month, tells the Register ‘it’s not so simple’ for Rome to rule on the matter.
Archbishop Henryk Hoser’s mission will be to gain deeper knowledge of the pastoral situation there and the needs of pilgrims.
