Leo spoke with journalists on his flight from Turkey to Lebanon.
‘I always talk about the dignity of women,’ he said on his flight back to Rome. ‘An abortion is a homicide,’ he said, adding, ‘The doctors who carry this out are hitmen.’ He also spoke of the ‘responsibility to help the abused and to take care of them … and to punish the abusers.’
The Holy Father emphasized that the Catechism teaches that people with same-sex attraction should not be marginalized.
‘He was always by my side, supporting me,’ the Pope said of the late pope emeritus during a Feb. 5 in-flight press conference aboard the papal plane returning from South Sudan.

Speaking aboard the papal plane, the 85-year-old Pontiff said that his problems walking have shown some improvement.
