
Pope Francis Accepts Retiring Providence Bishop Thomas Tobin’s Resignation

As coadjutor, Bishop Henning will assist Bishop Thomas Tobin in the administration of the Rhode Island diocese and should succeed him as bishop upon his retirement, expected once Bishop Tobin turns 75 next April.
While encouraging Catholics within the diocese to follow state guidelines, Bishop Tobin added that “no individual should be turned away from Mass or singled out if they choose to not wear a mask.”
“Annie’s Law” changed the statute of limitations for filing suits related to child sexual abuse from seven years to 35 years after the abuse victim’s 18th birthday.
