Bishop Burbidge said that ‘the most important work’ in this new phase of the pro-life movement ‘is the work not only of changing laws but of changing hearts with steadfast faith in the grace and power of God.’
In October, Bishop Burbidge denounced U.S. President Joe Biden’s stated intention to codify a national right to abortion should Democrats win control of Congress.
The president also pledged to veto a Republican-backed proposal to bar abortion under federal law at 15 weeks into pregnancy except in cases of rape, incest, or threat to the mother’s life.
Bishop Burbidge noted the “special occasion for the people of God to honor the character of the law, the sacred character.”

After the reopening plan was announced last week, Bishop Burbidge said parishes in the diocese could resume public Masses depending “on proper social distancing and the ability of parish clergy and staff to safely accommodate parishioners.”
