Singing Nun Wins 'Voice of Italy' Contest; Recites 'Our Father'

Last night, Italy's "Singing Nun," Sister Cristina Scuccia, won the 'Voice of Italy' contest, reports The New York Times, which includes the YouTube video of her rousing rendition of 'What a Feeling!' from the film Flashdance. What the YouTube video does not include is Sister Cristina's recitation of the 'Our Father' when she accepted the award. The Times' report suggests that the "Voice of Italy" judges did their best to ignore the unexpected  outburst expressiong  faith in God. What did the judges expect? Her habit should have given them a hint of what was on her mind.

People Explain ‘Why I Go to Mass’

‘Why go to Mass on Sundays? It is not enough to answer that it is a precept of the Church. … We Christians need to participate in Sunday Mass because only with the grace of Jesus, with his living presence in us and among us, can we put into practice his commandment, and thus be his credible witnesses.’ —Pope Francis
