Georgia Senate Vote
Voters are now going to the polls in today’s U.S. Senate runoff election in Georgia.
With a Democratic victory by challenger Jim Martin over incumbent Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss possibly resulting in a filibuster-proof Senate majority for the Dems, the runoff election has major national implications.
The Daily Blog reported on those implications here.
Associated Press reports that early turnout figures appear favorable for Chambliss, who is strongly pro-life and has been endorsed by National Right to Life. In contrast, Martin is pro-abortion and voted in the Georgia state legislature against a ban on partial-birth abortions.
