Millions gathered in the streets of Paris to proclaim their solidarity in resisting terrorism and to trumpet to the world their belief that Islam and the West can live in harmony.
Politicians and fools (Dept. of Redundancy Dept.?) rush to every microphone to proclaim that such extremism is not true Islam, it is just an aberration. Well, if it is an aberration, it is a pervasive 1,400 year old aberration.
Yes, this kind of stuff has been happening long before Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, cartoonists, or even fossil fuels. It is a feature, not a bug.
So while everyone marches loudly proclaiming their belief that we can live together, evil men scheme to inflict more damage while millions of fellow believers cheer them on. And they will continue to do this until they can put every last one of us under the sword of conversion.
So what is the answer? Simply put, we need to try and convert every last one of them to Christ and His Church. Yes, the only answer to peace is Christ. We need copious amounts of 'solemn nonsense.' Yup, we need to go into all these lands and fearlessly preach the good news of Christ. We need to convert every willing heart, not through the sword or coercion like Islam, but with the Truth and Love.
Alas and alack. The West and the Church have no stomach for such an undertaking at the moment. We don't believe in such things anymore. Heck, we don't even allow ourselves to discuss such things. The West has lost the faith and so we are as powerless as we are clueless as how to deal with this onslaught. We believe in the converting magic of bureaucratized democracy or market capitalism to heal the world, but not in the power of Christ. No, we never trust the power of Christ. We have unilaterally disarmed in the midst of a war we are losing in hopes that our foolishness will turn the tide.
So we will continue our marches and they will continue their schemes right up until it seems that the Church is defeated. That is what we asking for and that is what we deserve. When we find Christ again, we can help them find Christ too. Until then, I fully expect more of the same.
