In a message for the Church’s Feb. 8 World Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking, the Pope warns that conflict and inequality fuel exploitation.
The legislation would reauthorize the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, which provides funding and education needed to combat human trafficking.
Due in part to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, there have been increased reports to anti-trafficking hotlines, and there has been an increase in traffic to child pornography websites.
