The Resurrection of the Lord and the Mass of Easter Day
‘This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.’ (Psalm 118)
‘This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.’ (Psalm 118)
The Paschal Vigil is the Great Liturgy in which the whole Paschal Triduum culminates.
‘Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every other name.’ (Philippians 2:8-9)
The Holy Thursday Mass both rejoices in the institution of the Holy Eucharist and mourns Jesus’ imminent Passion.
This day is formally called ‘Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion.’ There’s a reason for that.
The Eucharistic liturgy is not a string of prayers haphazardly following one upon another — there is a coherence to the structure of the Mass.
