The Islamic State group’s Afghanistan affiliate claimed responsibility for the attack in Russia — which killed at least 130 people — a claim that U.S. intelligence officials have confirmed.
The Israeli Embassy to the U.S. said on Wednesday that more than 1,200 were killed and more than 3,000 injured as a result of the attack. The scale of the casualties and victims, which include women, children and the elderly, makes this one of the largest terrorist attacks since 9/11.
The beatification causes of the 48 Catholics who died inside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Salvation in 2010 advanced from the diocesan phase to the Vatican in October 2019.
