From a window overlooking St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis delivered his weekly Angelus reflection on Christ’s discourse to his disciples about the end of the world and his second coming
"The Angelus will be recited from the 10th floor of the A. Gemelli University Hospital," Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said, adding that the 84-year-old pontiff was continuing to improve following last Sunday's operation.
The Holy Father also announced he will travel to Slovakia in September as part of Vatican-confirmed scheduled trip.
“As the apostle Paul says, the faith that truly unites us to Jesus is ‘faith working through love.’”
Speaking from a window overlooking St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis said: “If we do not strive to forgive and to love, we will not be forgiven and loved either.”
An estimated 6,700 people were arrested in violent protests as demonstrators clashed with police forces, who used tear gas and rubber bullets.
The pope began his address by reflecting on the “demanding request” of Jesus to his followers to place love for Him before family ties.
The pope suggested three steps anyone can take right now, in their homes, to stop dwelling on the past and find God in the present.
The Pope’s comments came alongside a conference held on Sunday at the Vatican aimed at giving a voice to women working on the fringes of society.
In his Sunday Angelus address on the feast of the Holy Family, the Holy Father prayed for all families facing challenges.
