COMMENTARY: The Catholic faith does not believe everyone who dies goes to heaven. It does believe that the dead may need our help and that our prayers and sacrifices can indeed help them.
The season offers the faithful a chance to find simple ways to counsel the doubtful, instruct the ignorant, admonish sinners, comfort the sorrowful, forgive offenses, bear wrongs patiently and pray for the living and the dead.
Are we afraid of alienating people so much that we won’t stick up for what’s right and help set people free?
COMMENTARY: Right now, we need more of the last four spiritual works of mercy.
The Holy Father visited St. Alessio-Margherita di Savoia Regional Center for the blind in Rome March 31.
Following the example of Jesus, we must bear patiently with others, Holy Father said at last jubilee audience.
