COMMENTARY: At Monday’s hearing of the Religious Liberty Commission, the president and faith leaders underscored that America’s founding promise of religious freedom is under renewed attack in schools and universities.
Illinois and Indiana shepherds will join San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone on the Advisory Board of Religious Leaders for the commission. Cardinal Timothy Dolan and Bishop Robert Barron are serving on the commission itself.
Archbishop Cordileone, who has served as the San Francisco archbishop since 2012, is the third member of the Catholic hierarchy to be given a role in the presidential commission’s work.
