The Congolese bishop has announced a diocese-wide novena on Feb. 3-11 with 'a pious intention to recommend the soul of Father Richard Masivi to the mercy of God.'
Priests were killed around the world in 2020 and 2021.
Speaking to pilgrims in the Vatican’s San Damaso Courtyard, the pope noted that Fr. Malgesini was killed “by a person in need whom he himself helped, a person with a mental illness.”
A diocesan statement said “in the face of this tragedy, the Church of Como is clinging to prayer for its priest Fr. Roberto and for the person who struck him to death.”
