The Latin patriarch of Jerusalem is set to visit the Motor City Dec. 4-7.
Delegations met in Egypt on Monday to discuss the plan.
Cardinal Pizzaballa added that 'we are also experiencing a climate of deep hatred, increasingly entrenched within both populations, Israeli and Palestinian, that seems to have no end.'
While expressing particular solidarity with Christian communities in Gaza, the cardinal emphasized that the Church’s 'mission' in Gaza is open to all people.
Addressing the challenges in the Holy Land, Cardinal Pizzaballa highlighted the obstacles Christian families face in reaching their churches due to military checkpoints and repeated closures.
Cardinal Pizzaballa said, ‘The traumatic impact of the war on the population is enormous.’
The clergy traveled to bring a message of solidarity and support.
‘We are going through the most difficult moments in our history,’ Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa said at the May 1 Mass.
