Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk said he often hears from military leaders about miracles that have taken place during the war, such as missiles missing a car that was later found to have a rosary inside.
Major Archbishop Shevchuk said: ‘His visit to Ukraine during the war could be a powerful gesture for peace. We are waiting for him with sincerity.’
In latest video message, Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk told Christians that ‘propaganda is a suggestion of evil,’ adding, ‘Let us be Christian and human, even in the circumstances of war.’
In a video message recorded on March 7 in the besieged Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk thanked the neighboring country on Monday for offering aid to refugees.
‘The Church will come to the people,’ Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk said in video message. ‘The Church is with its people!’
The Pope called Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, who is based in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, in the late afternoon on Feb. 25.
Amid a build-up of Russian troops on the border of Ukraine, Pope Francis called last Sunday for a day of prayer for peace on Jan. 26.
