Francis also writes of new World Day of the Poor in new apostolic letter, Misericordia et Misera.
For those who embraced the Pope’s invitation to seek the Father’s mercy, the jubilee year was filled with blessings.
Following the example of Jesus, we must bear patiently with others, Holy Father said at last jubilee audience.
‘I want to emphasize and reiterate my closeness to all victims of the inhuman conflict in Syria. With a sense of urgency, I renew my appeal,’ the Pope said on Oct. 12. The Holy Father’s audience also focused on mercy: In a world ‘stricken with the virus of indifference,’ the works of mercy ‘are the best antidote.’
Through the Sept. 16 visit, ‘the Holy Father wanted to give a strong sign of the importance of life, from its first moment to its natural end,’ the Vatican said in a statement.
God never accepts possibility that someone could remain estranged from His love, as long as He finds in that person some sign of contrition for the evil he has committed.
COMMENTARY: A particularly effective Lenten exercise during the Year of Mercy is to put into practice Pope Francis’ teaching on how God’s grace makes it possible to forgive ourselves, our families and our enemies.
