Hilaire Belloc and T.S. Eliot on Twelfth Night and Epiphany

An epiphany is God revealed to us.
Epiphanytide is the perfect time for us to absorb the message of Christ’s coming and to bring his light to others.
The Solemnity of the Epiphany celebrates the arrival of the Magi — also known as the Three Wise Men or Three Kings — who came with gifts to worship the Child Jesus shortly after his birth.
Candlemas is still observed with public, Christmas-esque celebrations throughout the world, including in Peru, Puerto Rico, France, and Belgium.
"The light shines in the darkness, a darkness which was not able to overcome it." –John 1:5
“‘Arise, shine; for your light has come.’ Today, the Solemnity of Epiphany … in pointing to the light the prophet is pointing to Christ. As it shone for the shepherds seeking the newborn Messiah, so this light shines today on the path of the Magi.’ —Pope Benedict XVI
SCRIPTURES & ART: Today’s Gospel is illustrated in a 19th-century tapestry, “The Adoration of the Magi,”by English artist Edward Burne-Jones.
The message of Epiphany is that God “wants all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”
